Throughout my high school career, I have found many quotes that inspire me to continue to succeed, but one specific quote by Aristotle struck me in forms I had never fathomed of; Aristotle had once said, “Excellence is an art won by training and habituation. We do not act rightly because we have virtue or excellence, but we rather have those because we have acted rightly. We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act but a habit.” This quote had influenced my perception of work ethic as I then understood that in order to excel in an endeavor, it was a continual development of character and the simultaneous choice I had of whether to choose excellence or to slack on my work. With such a perception, I believe that the motto of the Independent Study Program offered at Frisco Independent School District, Choose Excellence and Exemplify Character, portray that one must work voluntarily towards the goals while also maturing as students in his or her experiences in the program in order to prepare for the real working world of a desired career. …show more content…
Likewise, I would be honored to be a part of this program because I know it will be a platform for demonstrating my skills in medicine that I could not demonstrate in other classes while attaining specific insight into the explicit medical career, instead of a general overview from other classes in
Ms. Bennett reported that she felt she was managing her schoolwork relatively okay at school. However, she stated that when she was in her forth grade, the school involuntarily placed her in Individualized Education Program (IEP) even though she did not feel the need. Ms. Bennett admitted that she is in fact a slow learner, but that she felt “indifferent” from other students. She reported that the teachers from the IEP did not do anything to teach the objective material but allowing a group of students, including Ms. Bennett to watch a series of movies during class for the entire grades since the beginning of the placement. She described that no one was encouraged to learn in the IEP classroom, and furthermore, their classroom was located in the back of the school behind all the classrooms for the regular curriculum as if the students in the IEP were not important. Ms. Bennett explained that she was able to obtain passing grades regardless of what she did in the classroom.
It is my first time to have this kind of course where everyone can learn and experience interacting with other students of the health care team. I believe this is an important program where a student can have an in-depth understanding of the other professions. It gives them a sense of
I believe that the medical profession is an important and valuable career field and it is very important to the society. I have been fascinated by the workings of life and the complexity of the human body ever since I was young and this has strengthen my philanthropic approach to life, in that I could be trained to help people get better. This, I consider rewarding. I have hoped to develop excellent skills, such as research, communication, teamwork and problem solving. I believe this program will give me the opportunity to further improve these skills and have great chances at professionalism.
Although I had my doubts about applying to this program, I decided to take the opportunity and apply. This has become one of my proudest academic achievements! The reason being that this program has exposed me to different resources that will be useful in my pursuit of a medical career. The most important focus that the program workshops, coordinators and faculty spoke about was the importance of believing in that all the participants could enter medical schools and one day become doctors. The experience I gained from this program will impact the rest of my academic career because I have gained valuable knowledge about how to become a leader in medicine and my community. The program also focused on participants gaining resources and support from staff and faculty from Stanford University and other community
The first time I found out about this program I saw how beneficial it would be for me. The first thing that interest me about the program was the MCAT prep portion of the program. Being able to learn good skills about MCAT test will only help me do better on the exam. The MCAT exam is one of the deciding factors on getting into medical schools but with the help of the MCAT test prep I should do well on exam which would make me a more competitive applicant. I am also interested in the program because of its research component. Being able to do research will be an unbelievable opportunity for me. Being able to learn good lab techniques and being able to understand in depth some of the things that I learned in the classroom. Also, being mentored
I am the ideal candidate for the Mayo Physicians of Tomorrow Program because of my unique perspective on medicine because of my diagnosis, my unusual experiences and subsequent trainings, and my desire for an unfiltered exposure to the medical field. My perspective has ignited the passion that I feel toward medicine and affirmed my conviction that I will be a physician. This program offers an exceptional opportunity for me to further research, understand, and embrace my dream. Additionally, the program has the added potential benefits of endowing me with skills, experiences, and the medical school application aid that will drive me to serve and help others, much like I needed it years ago.
I hope to gain a better perspective of what it takes to be in the medical field. I understand that the program allows us to observe patient care in the emergency department of Grady Hospital. I believe it’s an amazing opportunity to see all the obstacles in managing patient care first hand. There are many patients who are hit with a medical condition or disaster that have low incomes. With my family’s history of low income and the amount of medical conditions they had to face it would be great to have a better understanding of what they went through. Despite growing up and being exposed to the medical issues my family continuously faced I never truly understood what any of the procedures or how the hospitals worked. Being able to talk with
In this program, I hope to gain more insight and experience into the medical field and what will eventually be expected of me. Through this program, I plan on learning about different types of medicine and the different ways doctors approach situations. I also hope to learn about the different reasons the mentors/doctors went into medicine. This program will impact my future plans and goals by allowing me to learn about different subjects and gain experience in the medical field.
I am a kind person who enjoys assisting people and I always strive to make new connections each day. This program will help me improve my social skills which are very important in the field of science. Everyday, I would go into the hospital eager to complete the various tasks assigned to me. I am a person who likes to exceed expectations and does not settle for less. I will be especially beneficial to Baylor Scott & White due to my age, because of shared qualities and mutual interests with teens receiving medical attention in the facility. I can also be helpful with children as I have two little brothers of my own, one in elementary school and the other in middle
In closing, I am expecting for a reputable clinical program, which will offer a broad-ranging Internal Medicine training. My diverse life experiences have helped me understand that I have the mental force, determination, flexibility, and compassion to succeed as a valuable asset to a medical team. I will be dedicated to working sincerely during residency training and I pledge to commit all my energies for this
When I discovered that an application for the ACMC Academy had become available, I decided to take advantage of the opportunity. I have known since the seventh grade that I am interested in the medical field. However, the medical field is very broad, and I was unsure of what direction I wanted to continue into my future. I predicted that being involved in the program would help me navigate through the medical field, and lead me toward a more definite future.
As a pre-teen, I stepped foot in America with my mother and younger brother. Recently, I completed my high school education and desire to pursue further studies while I’m still here. My mom will be completing her degree in an organizational leadership program within the next year. After she’s done, she’s going back to our country, India. In that span of time, I want to change my status from F2 dependent to F1 student, so that I could utilize my time better and gain more knowledge along with a college experience. I need your permission to be on an independent visa after my mother leaves.
I look forward to bringing my diverse skill set and passion for learning to graduate school. I am excited about discovering how my knowledge fits into the larger narrative of medicine and, in doing so, I hope to move from a narrowed theoretical level to a collaborative application-based understanding.
Growing up, having a sporting background has given me knowledge in both the physical and practical aspects of sport and this has made me decide to apply for a course in sport related degree with confidence and excitement.
Too often people are faced with seemingly insurmountable obstacles early on in life. We often don’t realize the extent of the difficulties even when we may be aware of the problem itself. Factors like race, socioeconomic status and whether a person is born with a disability impact one’s ability to successfully navigate the obstacles they face. The interplay of these factors often creates situations where the individual is unlikely to succeed.
