Personal Worldview Essay

A worldview is not determined simply by a single factor, value, belief or view. It can be described as a collection of beliefs a person has about his or her life and the world around. This worldview can include aspects such as a consistent decision making process, an idea of what is right or wrong, and also who or what authority do I respect and follow. This view can modified constantly by factors including experiences that a person might face, a changing environment, and different values. God has been a very important part of my live since I was a very little girl. When I was only a couple of months old I was baptized. That was my first spiritual encounter with God. I then proceeded to commit my first communion in third grade. I then received my confirmation when I was in eighth grade. Like I said before God has been a very important part in my life for a very long time.

Every human being has a worldview whether they are aware of it or not. Although the notion of a worldview might appear basic in nature, the word itself simply meaning how one views the world around them, worldviews are much more complex and far reaching. A worldviews development occurs over the course of a lifetime, shaped by the complex and unique experiences of an individual and the sum of family traditions, religious beliefs and cultural histories. It is an all-encompassing interpretation of reality that plays a central and defining role in our attitudes and concepts about life. While worldviews are formed based on the answers to fundamental questions about human existence, they simultaneously shape

Many people’s view of the world is formed/shaped by their culture, ethnicity, friends, family and/or religion. Often times, they find their faith through personal encounters with families and friends. For Christians, our worldviews are formed through our faith which is strengthen through us studying the Holy Bible.

Throughout this class we have discussed the different worldviews that an individual may have. This class has taught me that a worldview is how an individual understands the world and their place in it. “A worldview consist of what a person believes to be real and true, what a person values, how a person makes decisions, and what forms a person’s desires, longings, and goals” (Fuller, Lecture One). An individual’s worldview is the motivating force behind their every emotion, decision, and action. A worldview is what helps an individual make sense of life and this world. A worldview will provide answers for many different questions in life. A few of the questions that a worldview helps answer are questions of origin, human dilemma, hope, and destiny.

Finally, the last question what core commitments are consistent to my worldview are and how they impact my life. My response was spreading joy and love to everyone while also showing them the bright side of life. This impacts my life by having a positive outlook each day and putting smiles and motivating people to strive for the best they can. This is a great Christian outlook on life to give to others and show them how to be positive with having God on their side. These questions helped me realize how much of a Christian I am but how I also have some other worldview beliefs as well such as New Age.

My personal worldview explains the way I view and live life through the assumptions and beliefs I hold in response to the world around me. I believe I was created for a specific reason and purpose.

My name is Asia Harvey. I am eighteen years old. I was born and raised in Los Angeles, California. I am a freshman in college majoring in communications. Worldview to me means how everyone in the world interprets reality. I believe everyone has a worldview and it is influenced by our ethics, morals, and family values. It can also be influenced by what we hear, what we read, what we see or who we associate with. Worldview is mostly influenced by religion and science even though, a worldview can and do change. I believe the Christian worldview deals with the belief in the Bible. It leads me to believe that God created the universe in six days and on the last day he rested and that I am God's creation put on earth to fellowship with him and govern

Our actions are often the reflection of our world views. The world views that we stand by are usually shaped by our upbringing and predicaments that we find ourselves in throughout our life time. World views are what we believe is true in every area of life. Science, politics, religion, and theology are some areas in life that we have world views on whether we are aware of it or not. A biblical world view is the perspective you see life from through the complete truth of the Bible.

When one has decided on a worldview, it will govern the life they lead and play into motives, morals, and actions. I have chosen a path in which I believe is not of human ideas but a holy, purposeful way to live. I am an evangelical Christian and I believe the Bible is God’s written Word and I base my entire life and the way I look at the world off of it. There are five categories that are unique to my Biblical worldview that shape the way I live. Metaphysics, Theology, Epistemology, Anthropology, and Ethics determine the different branches in my worldview and the assumptions I make. In my opinionated worldview, God exists and is at the center with everything else revolving around Him.

Today’s society consists of many worldviews. Most people tend to pull beliefs from different religions, but often stick to one main worldview. A worldview to me is the gathering of beliefs that shape what we do on a daily basis and forms our overall view on life. When I look at my beliefs critically, I am able to see my worldview and see how it compares to different worldviews, but also how it compares mainly to the Christian Worldview.

The worldview an individual holds is weighted and manipulated by the experiences, morals/values, customs, and aspects individuals develop during life. Through these factors and more, a person's worldview differentiates from another. This then creates principles, questions, views, and cultures that are/can be shared by communities and society as a whole. In a simpler context of words, a person's worldview is the way they see the world, and how this perspective shapes the way a person lives. When transferring these fundamental aspects to my own life, I am then able to expand the effect in relation to how it guides my ability to work in Global Health. This established awareness then allows me to modify my attitudes, beliefs, and behaviors in order to further my acceptance of others.

Why is it possible to know anything at all? Pastor Alin explains this as “Human beings can know both the world around them and God Himself because God has built into them the capacity to do so and because He takes an active role in communicating with them. (Alin, 2015).

A worldview directly affects people’s lives. How one believes where they came from and what their purpose is can change the way they view simple, everyday occurrences. The Enuma Elish, the Epic of Gilgamesh, and the Bible were all fundamental to developing whole civilizations’ worldviews. The Babylonians, Akkadians, and Hebrews all had contradicting worldviews, but they all had one thing in common. Each society’s worldview was formed based on their beliefs. This can show people today the importance of where one places their faith. To have a solid view on the world means believing in a God who will protect them through the thick and the thin, who will love them, and who created them with a purpose.

At any given point in time, and with any given human being, an individual’s opinion and behavior expose their worldview by demonstrating their perception of what they believe to be true. The worldview of every person has a comprehensive perspective of reality in every aspect of life. It is important to note that a person’s worldview might not actually possess the truth, but it is their truth, and that is what makes it their worldview. Consequently, one’s personal understanding seeps into every matter of one’s life and the lives of others, both in private and public issues. Furthermore, the essence of an established worldview is shaped by external influences such as one’s cultural environment, upbringing, companions, and the media. As a result of differing and incompatible opinions among humans, worldviews are generally categorized into separate groups. Moreover, similar worldviews that share beliefs and morals are able to
