There is an old saying that goes, “Sticks and stones make break my bones, but words will never hurt me.” This was said during a period of time where bullying was not as big of an issue as it currently is. Whether someone has been bullied, been a bully, or have seen bullying happen, it has come up in some way at a point in their life. Bullying has affected various generations of people in many ways, causing a lot of different problems throughout the world. Some of these may include mental and physical health issues which can also lead to suicide. Bullying must be stopped in order to improve our lives and the world around us.

When that person grows up and they look back on their actions they will be ashamed of how terrible they were. Yes, it is small, but it still will have a big impact on their life. Normally, when someone bullies another person it is because they have issues of their own. According to Ditch the Label, “Our data shows that those who bully are far more likely than average to have experienced a stressful or traumatic situation in the past five years”. This evidence explains that bullies do not always bully people because of their appearance, but sometimes because that is what they are used to. That is sometimes how they are treated at home, so they think it is justifiable to treat other people the same way. Sometimes, this causes others to take their own lives. Some people may argue that it does not matter what one’s home life is like. It is still not justifiable to treat other people like they are of a lower social standing. While this could be agreed upon, if bullying is to be stopped at school, bullying must stop at home first. Everyone deserves loving parents and a loving family, but not everyone gets that. Bullying is not only a school issue and if bullying is stopped, the suicide rate will ultimately lower. To sum up, bullying is one of the main reasons why people take their own life.
