Today’s teens will be on there phones and be the ones to cause the major accidents. If they get a flat tire they will not know how to change it or they will not have the right tools to change it. And if their car breaks down they will sit there and not bother to look under the hood of their car because they are either scared or do not know how to even understand what is wrong with the car. That is why 100 local high school students got together to compete in a competition to see if they can fix up cars and to get taught how to fix cars to figure out what is wrong with it if they ever break down on the freeway or road. It also introduces them to environmental issues and what most cars are doing to the environment and how people can fix these problems. It helps them understand how or what it affects in the world from wildlife to plants. How we can make cars more environmentally friendly and not hurt/harm animal life and human life. Teenagers today will be so focused on texting their friends while they are driving and then they end up getting into a major car accident and it could end badly for both people involved in the accident and the teen who is driving reckless has a bigger chance of getting in an accident because they could hit someone at a high speed and it could be a really bad accident and leave people really injured or even them not making it out of the crash. Also the people driving the suvs and texting and driving are putting more people in danger rather than
Although there are many commercials, ads, documentaries, seminars, etc. on the reasons why people should never drink and drive, you would be surprised how many people still get behind the wheel after having had more than just a drink or two. We might not realize it but every day, about 28 people in the United States die in car crashes that involve a drunk driver. This equals to one death every 51 minutes! It’s so sad because these statistics could be way better if people had a well thought out plan prior to going out drinking. There has been research found relating to Drinking and Driving Behaviors since this topic is now becoming more of an issue in this generation than it was in the past. For instance, Schell, Chan, and Morral (2006), found that some people who have a DUI record tend to have pretty high expectations of themselves even after having some drinks in their system (e.g., “I feel more relaxed when drinking"), so with that being said those people with higher confidence were the ones more likely to be engaged in drinking and driving activity. While intoxicated, we often don’t consider any negative consequences that can happen to us but as you’ll see on the news, on social media, in the newspapers, etc. driving while under the influence can be very dangerous and even fatal.
Studies show, by law a player must sign off by a medical professional before the player can return to the field. Studies also show, concussions and or head head injuries are linked to permanent brain damage. The question frequently asked is "should injured athletes be required to sit out for periods of time to allow time for the brain to heal completely?" As an athlete, I think athletes should wait. Only because if a player gets one concussion and goes back to their sports and gets hit in the head, that could lead to permanent damage for not giving the brain time to heal from the previous injury.
My best friend will likely be the death of me, but I still love her. I have known her for three years and would trust her with anything, or so I thought. Everything changed the moment she got her license. Suddenly the need for coffee was completely eliminated, and all I had to do was ride to school with her. Through many close encounters and two accidents so far, I have learned the definition of a terrible driver. Every ride with her is an adventure involving skipped stop signs, speeding, and near collisions. She is the reason why many adults believe that teenagers should not their license because of poor driving.
Every state, other than New Hampshire, requires drivers to carry their state’s minimum requirements to legally drive a vehicle. Still, there are those who refuse to follow the letter of the law. In fact, in 2012 the Insurance Research Council found that one in eight drivers on the road don’t have insurance at all, totalling 30 million uninsured motorists nationwide.
Each year, 13,000 people are killed by drunk drivers with a blood alcohol level above .08. Advocates of a new standard for in-car breathalyzers say that most, if not all, of those accidents could have been avoided if the drunk driver hadn't been able to turn his or her car on. If Congress and Mothers Against Drunk Driving get their way, could your next new car could come with a breathalyzer pre-installed?
Have you or someone you know been involved in an accident involving a drunk driver? Chances are, that answer is yes. Two in every three people will be involved in a drunk driving accident by the end of their lifetime (MADD). Drunk driving in the United States has become a major issue. By creating stricter laws, it will deter people from drinking and driving, employ more police officers, and make the roadways safer. In other words, drunk drivers should be imprisoned on their first offense.
While none of us want to be charged with a DUI, we may have certain preconceived notions about the entire process and the charges. These notions may result in us being careless or reckless and not taking the possible consequences of drinking and driving seriously. Here are some things you should know:
In order to reduce the number of car accidents, drunk drivers should be imprisoned on their first offense; many drunk drivers are repeat offenders, and a stricter sentence is required to deter them from repeating the same offense.Drinking is a choice. It does not get any more simple than that. There is nothing wrong with consuming alcohol; however, the issues arises when people drink irresponsibly and attempt to drive.
Driving under the influence (DUI) refers to a situation when a driver operates a motor vehicle while their blood alcohol content (BAC) is over the legal limit. This level is set by the state and is based on the fact that an average person cannot drive safely at or above this level of alcohol content in their body. While BAC legal limits may vary from state to state, they generally range from 0.08% to 0.10%. The BAC limit in Nampa, Idaho is 0.08% for drivers over the age of 21, 0.04% for commercial drivers and 0.02% for drivers under the age of 21.
Drinking and driving is a bad custom practiced across the world. On average in a Canadian province, one in five drivers involved in fatal collisions have been drinking prior to the collision. Driving while under the influence is preventable, unfortunately most people underestimate the seriousness of driving while under the influence. Drinking and driving is against the law, causes negative effects and is preventable.
Drunk driving. Everyone knows how dangerous it can be. The message, “Do not drink and drive,” is everywhere. People have finally started to realize how incredibly perilous driving while drunk can be, and the number of alcohol related accidents is starting to plummet. *** Do not celebrate yet, however. Another dangerous pastime is beginning to influence people behind the wheel. Texting. In fact, people are beginning to believe that texting while driving is even more precarious than driving while intoxicated. ** Really? Texting? Unfortunately, yes. Statistics on accidents and studies on the slowed reaction times of behind the wheel texters seem quite conclusive. In addition, people just do not take this issue seriously enough, which has a great effect on the occurrence of texting.
Every day, law enforcement officers throughout the state of Florida stop drivers on suspicion of drunk driving. Like many who find themselves in this situation, you may be unsure of your rights when it comes to breath tests. It may be important for you to understand whether you have the right to refuse a breath test, and the potential penalties you could face based on the state’s implied consent law. This may help you to protect yourself from unwarranted arrests and unnecessary consequences.
In 1897, George Smith, a taxi driver in London crashed his cab into building under the influence of alcohol; becoming the first person ever arrested under drunk driving charges. In 1910, United States passed the first law against this. In 1953, the Breathalyzer was invented, and the law was updated stating as drunk driving as the action of operating a motorized vehicle with alcohol level above the legal parameters set by law, which, nowadays, ranges from .08 to .10. Nevertheless, it was not until 1980s that the public did not raise awareness of this dangerous problem and the number of death was near the 22000. “In 2014, 9,967 people died in drunk driving crashes – one every 53 minutes- and 290,000 were injured in drunk driving crashes,” (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration). In 2013, Hillsborough County had a total of 57 drunk driving related accidents, an increase of the 60 % comparing to 2009 according
though they drive safely and obey all laws, their still at risk every time they ride. Unfortunately one evening, my great uncle Jim wats riding home from work when he was hit by a drunk driver. He didn’t wake up til hours later, with several broken ribs and a broken collar bone. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, or CDC, “ Every day, 28 people in the United States die in motor vehicle crashes that involve an alcohol impaired driver”. Drunk driving is the act or crime of driving a vehicle while under the affect of drugs, typically alcohol. The legal limit for driving while impaired is a blood alcohol concentration, or BAC, of .08%, or .04% for commercial drivers(Motor Vehicle Safety). Exceeding this limit has severe consequences when persecuted. For first time offenders can be costly in time, fines and living other consequences. There’s a no tolerance policy for underage drinkers and immediate suspension of the drivers license. But even with all these consequences, people still drink and drive with a BAC over the limit (DUI & DWI Laws & Enforcement). Any amount of alcohol affects the human body, whether it is impaired judgement or a slowed response time. People can not be trusted to not drink and drive over the limit, by giving them this freedom many innocent life’s are at risk. While alcohol has the same effects as barbiturates, only barbiturates are a controlled substance (What are Barbiturates?). Alcohol is a psychoactive depressant drug and should be controlled.
Drunk driving has a bigger cost than people are willing to accept. Someone has to pay for it and it shouldn't be innocent people. From the lives of their children being taken, to money, and the loss of their own lives. This topic may not seem very controversial but it is very important, without taking these license you are giving them permission to continue what they are doing of putting other people and themselves at risk. Although it may seem harsh to take someone's license for a year, it is a much needed step to be taken. Taking a drunk drivers license will remove these possible punishments to innocent people and make the guilty serve their time. Without a license these drivers who have driven drunk will be removed off the road which in
