Commuting to school can sometimes be a good thing or a bad thing. Some days, you will love it and other days you will hate it.
Personally, I have mix feelings about commuting. Some days, I do want to live on campus because I believe it will make my life easier. I'm not entirely fond of traveling back and forth from home to school all the time. It is tiring and annoying.
I live in Upper Darby, Pennsylvania, which is 45 minutes away from Temple University. I wake up every morning to catch the Septa bus, so it can take me to the train station. I have to get up early, so I can arrive to class on time.
To get to Temple University, I have to take two trains to get there which is the Market-Frankford Line and the Broad Street Line. I travel to the suburbs to the city every week and sometimes the weekend as well. Then, I have to travel back home, when I'm done with school or hanging out with friends on campus. I travel back and forth every day, which is a struggle.
The transportation system doesn't help all the time and sometimes makes commuting even more difficult. Septa is every commuter nightmare sometimes because sometimes the buses and trains are running late and students will come late to their class, all out of breath because they ran to get to class on time. Currently, I'm running to my 10 a.m. class all the time now because the trains are running late or it stops in the middle of nowhere for no reason.
Sometimes Septa workers will go on strike, but that
The busses are mostly useful to those students because it saves them 10 minutes, but only runs about every 20 minutes, meaning that if a student happens to just miss the bus, then they usually have to walk.
Trains are everywhere in our society, we have jokes, toys, movies, and children’s television shows, but did you know rail transport started in 6th century Greece? The city of San Antonio, Texas is a fast-growing metropolitan city that has a very tremendous amount of people. It has been estimated that the city will grow by another million people in the next ten to twenty years. San Antonio’s traffic is becoming a huge issue and is quickly approaching to be one of the most congested areas in the states. The public transport in San Antonio consists of a very complex bus system, taxicabs, Trolley’s downtown, and the growing market of ridesharing drivers. San Antonio has had many talks and negotiations throughout the last two decades on getting a Light Rail system constructed to help with public transportation. This proposal is for specific businesses, the city of San Antonio and Bexar County to come to a funding agreement.
College is one of the biggest stepping stones of life. For some, the transition can be rough. Many important decisions have to be made, one of those being housing arrangements. The decision to dorm or commute can change one’s perspective at college immensely. They are very different; dorming is not for everybody; commuting is not for everybody. Commuting and dorming differ in independence, money, transportation, and experiences.
Having a later start time for schools would result in an increase in safety in students. One risk that occur when schools start earlier, is the risk of students driving to school while still sleepy. This can result in life threatening car crashes if a student falls asleep behind the wheel. Studies provided by The Encyclopedia of School Health show that the average crash rate of teen drivers went down drastically with school districts that started later. Specifically, the research showed that “the average crash rate for teenage drivers dropped 16.5% in 2 years” (“School Start Times”). Another danger that is brought up with the safety of tired students, is their awareness when crossing streets and busy areas. While those who are tired can still look and check multiple
The long and arduous commute leaves a significantly large room for error in commuting. One disruption in this cycle creates the possibility of missing a class or even an entire day. New Brunswick however, is considerably closer to my residence. The shorter commute ensures that I will reach my classes on time, and result in a more efficient opportunity for my education based on my location and lifestyle.
First of all, the author states that “early start times aren't going away quickly, and probably won't, because of the costs.” Secondly, as stated in the text, "School boards often hear objections about disruptions at the other end of the school day: Kids getting home really late from sports practice or chess club, or not being able to work after-school jobs." Lastly, according to the text, the expensive issue is the transportation. The author also states that “Meaning, the district runs each bus multiple times every
Now, in modern times kids nowadays stay inside the house and eating when your grandparents were young they would go outside and play. We kids these days are distracted by electronics which your grandparents did not have to worry about because they did not have any. If people live out of town, they still need to get up at the same time to get to school. Some
By making transportation easier for them, it would. However, Wayne State must decide on the method of transportation they could use in order to help their Canadian students. The proposed solutions in this document was developed from information obtained via research, such as, but not limited to, student surveying.
As a result of moving schools hour's more student's would not have to worry about being late and not rush, this would reduce the amount of car accidents that teenagers are in.One example of students trying to rush is in source 1 "Should the School Day start Later"by Micheal Gonchar it talk's about a teenager named Jilly Santos who struggled to get to
won't have a ride to school. Also if teens started later that means changing their whole schedules. If school gets out later, students who are involved in other activities will be busy until much later than they are currently. This would also leave children arriving home later and eating dinner later, which poses its own health risks. Students wouldn’t be late if school hadn’t started so early. Nearly 10% of the U.S high schools now are starting before 7:30a.m,40% start before 8:00a.m and only about 15% start after 8:30a.m. Over 20% start class 7:45 a.m or earlier. Students who are picked up shortly after 5:30a.m in some districts and teens must wake up at 5 or 6 to make it to school. If schools didn’t start that early many people would make it to school on time. Sometime the bus comes earlier than when they're supposed to come so students don’t make it on time cause they wait for the bus to come at it’s regular time. So that students can make it to school on time and not be late they should have later school
Well, that 'll be three to four hours away from where I live since I take public transportation to school. I cannot believe I am a nineteen-year-old girl, who graduated at the top of her class in both high school and college, and I am petrified of driving. My body shivers as the memories kick in.
Let me give a scenario for students, this could be a day when the ear-splitting sound of your alarm woke you up very early and for some reason you decided to go back to bed, but by the time you woke up,you realized it was 7:40 and your bus would be coming in 20 minutes(you are officially late). If you love going to school, you would do the most sensible thing to do in this situation ,run as fast as your can and get yourself on a bus seat. In under 20 minutes you quickly brush, take a shower, gobble down your breakfast, kiss your parents goodbye and head outside. Unfortunately, by the time you get outside the bus is about to leave. So you chase after the bus like a maniac and then you finally get on the bus.
Students have to travel from far distance to come to Ryerson University. For some students it can take up to a few hours just to get to Ryerson and then have to travel the same amount of hours to get back home. Doing this takes up a lot of time during your day. Most of the students take public transport to get to Ryerson. Also, if you miss the bus or train, it can take up more of your time. There are also constant delays on the transit system. In addition, some student may even take up to multiple buses and trains. This can add up to be lots of money over time because you have to pay to there and pay to get back home. Moreover, some students even have classes as early as 8:00am, so they have to wake up an extra few hours before and make sure
Throwing garbage on a daily basis is a part of the human nature. Every year, one average person generates double amounts of waste than they buy and recycles about 20% of the total waste which leads the other 80% of the waste in a landfill or in the ocean, making the earth an unlivable place. All these wastes have a negative impact on the ecosystem and climate change through releasing excess greenhouse gas, thickening the atmosphere. Therefore, it’s necessary to take action on this contemporary issue while keeping the human needs in mind such as saving money or containing better quality products. According our research, to meet all these human needs while solving the issue of the climate change, upcycling is the only solution. Upcycling is a process of turning waste materials or futile products to a better quality which can be helpful to humans, increase the environmental values and at the same time, decrease the level of the greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. However, to some people, upcycling is seen as a weak concept, but it is a very effective technique which can beat the method of recycling to stop the climate change.
