Persuasive Essay On Cyber Bullying

“The real solution is not criminal prosecution, but it should be education and selective participation.” 60% of young people who have been cyberbullied say that it has affected them in their personal life. However, if a child can’t handle the bullying, they should not use the Internet. Cyberbullying is bullying another person on the Internet. Individuals should not be prosecuted for statements on social media.

One topic that has received much needed attention as social media has boomed over the years appears to be cyberbullying. Bullying in schools has always been a problem, but since the early 2000s, it was not considered an extremely serious issue. However, that began to change as social media applications like Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and Snapchat became such a huge part of the teenage life. Bullying slowly began to transform into cyberbullying with the growth of all of these forms of social media. Cyberbullying has garnered much national attention in the media and among schools and parents that it has left many to ask how far school officials should go in addressing and preventing cyberbullying amongst students. Despite the fact that cyberbullying is mostly made off school grounds and digitally, school officials should have the right to intervene because it affects the student emotionally, mentally, and physically.

Bullying is a problem and always has been. Whether it be taking lunch money in the hallway or laughing at the kid in your math class. But nowadays with new advancements in technology, bullying has gotten even worse. Cyberbullying is when a minor is being threatened or harassed by another minor through the internet. If it includes anyone over the age of 18 it is now crossing the lines over into the realm of cyber-harassment or cyberstalking. The anonymity of the internet today can allow anyone to attack anonymously and without getting caught.

Cyberbullying can happen any day at, anytime, and anywhere you are. Cyberbullying has grown so much through the years that now it has become some kind of common issue. Cyber Bullying usually happens between teens because, of arguments, racial harassment, or because of physical features .One of the most unbelievable causes for cyberbullying is that parents may be the cause for their kids to cyberbully someone else. Parents who use aggressive communication toward their children , will cause the kid problems in school, and out of school. Study also shows that many teens are being influenced by their friends to do things they shouldn't do like cyberbullying. Cyberbullies think that bullying others , making them feel bad about themselves, and making them do things they shouldn’t do is ok but what they don't know is that they are the cause for any teens committing suicide,and making choices they will regret after it happens. Even though it's hard to stop cyberbullying around the world because, not everyone has the same opinion as us, we can make change. Children are taking their own lives before they even fully begin. Cyberbullying is different from schoolyard bullying. Teachers can't intervene to the internet. Teens spend the preponderance of their day online just scrolls down seeing objects that may be harming other students, however, students refusal to show their relevance to this important title of cyber bullying. While the internet is an essential mechanism, numerous people compose it a dilemma. The internet is a comparable a reward, once you recognize it you are excited, however having the internet for a while, you tend to comprehend and being tired of doing the same opponent material so you start looking up different objects to accomplish on the internet.

If you asked adults about their childhood they would probably tell you how they would go outside and play hockey in the street with the neighborhood kids or go over to a friends house and hang out in a treehouse. My dad tells me stories about how he got sprayed by a skunk when he was outside with his dog once, or one time he rode his big wheel down a slide and knocked the wind out of himself.

Ever experienced the pain and hurt from who you thought you could call your, “friends?” Maybe you have never been a victim but have seen it, and thought you should stand you for said person. In this case, we are talking about a girl named Martha. Now I don’t know a lot about Martha, because no background information was given, but I do know that Martha is being bullied, and I would stand you for her. Being responsible, and standing up for someone that’s too afraid to do it their self is what God would want. He’d also want you to show Martha what a true friendship is. Being a kind person in general is what we should all strive to be, so with that said let’s get into the essay.

As years go by, our technological advances as a human race bring us closer and closer to a life of leisure and security. However these advances aren’t without any setbacks. Sometimes these advances cause us to review and edit our previous and cherished policies to regulate society while respecting modern way of life. One of these advances was the internet, and more specifically the integration of social media into almost every individual’s daily social interactions with the people around them. Unfortunately, the setback was the appearance of cyber-bullying as a new challenge we have to face as a society.

On June 14, 2017, 12-year-old Mallory Grossman took her life due to cyberbullying. This little girl was told to “kill herself” and constantly threatened on Snapchat. Mallory's parents knew and tried to stop it, but the school didn't help and let it continue. Eventually, Mallory took her life. Mallory was a cheerleader and gymnast and that could have been a reason these girls would be rude, they were jealous. It might make you feel powerful but it is wrong, cyberbullying is very common and this is one of many reasons why kids are committing suicide and something needs has to be done.

Should cyberbullying be in the spotlight and have punishments for the troubles that may cause a person great harm? There have been multiple cases of people ending their lives due to cyberbullying, people such as Amanda Todd, Seth Walsh, and many others. In this generation, many people, typically children and teenagers, seem to think that they need to put everything on social media. They see celebrities and older siblings posting on social media and want to be just like them. However, children and teens getting on social media could make them easy victims for cyberbullying. Should those who cyberbully be punished for inflicting emotionally harm? Or is cyberbullying not as big of an issue as it’s made out to be?

As technology rises, so does the curiosity of young minds. Having a new outlet to express themselves in and out of school, students can do malicious acts towards another student outside of school. This is called cyberbullying and it’s occurring more and more throughout this current generation. Even with this becoming more of an occurrence, some schools still don’t draw enough attention to it and leave it up to parents. Afraid of being their current dilemma isn’t important, students keep what happened to them on the internet to themselves. As a result this can effect with their mental health. Students should have multiple outlets to ask for help and the school should be a main one.

It can cause teens to be depressed and have some low self-esteem. Some kids may be affected by bullying that they might take medicine. It impacts a lot of people and can lead to many long-term or even life-long affects. This topic is captivating because it’s an issue that has become out of control. Cyberbullying is an issue that will not stop if nothing is being done to prevent it. In this paper, I will talk about why people cyberbully, the affects it has on individuals, and how it can be prevented.

Everyday within our society we see people, mostly younger children, get bullied whether it be inside school walls, or online with social media. We fail to take a long look at this problem and try to find a solution to why this may be happening. We also don’t realize that we are in some way encouraging this type of behavior in some way, shape, or form. This can come from friend’s behaviors, family members, and even parenting.
