The world is addicted to fossil fuels, but it is quickly using up its resources and destroying the environment. Based on current estimates, oil and natural gas will peak by 2040. In addition, “over the past 50 years, the average global temperature has increased at the fastest rate in recorded history” (MacMillan Para 1). The United States needs to figure out a way to fulfill their massive demand for power while ensuring the safety of the planet. There are many possible ways to attack the problem at hand. The first proposal is to mandate the installment of solar rooftop units throughout the country. Another proposal is to install solar parks throughout the country. A final proposal is to simply incentivize the use and development of solar energy while phasing out fossil fuels. By implementing one of these three proposals, the United States government could help solve a problem that looms over the entire population.
The major problem solar energy will look to fix is global warming. Global warming is the gradual increase of the average global temperature. This rise in heat is caused by the greenhouse effect, which “is the warming that happens when certain gases in Earth's atmosphere trap heat. These gases let in light but keep heat from escaping, like the glass walls of a greenhouse” (What is Global Warming Para 4). This process is natural and keeps Earth at an inhabitable temperature. Recently, however, the burning of fossil fuels has enhanced this effect, which is
If the country stopped relying on fossil fuels and switch to solar energy it would be beneficial for multiple reasons; it would save society billions or trillions of dollars. Even long before society’s very existence is threatened by global warming, global warming is projected to cost society trillions of dollars if pollution continues. Fighting global warming with solar power will likely save society billions or even trillions of dollars. Solar power also provides free energy. No one can buy the sun or turn sunlight into a monopoly or go and buy the sun. Combined with the simplicity of solar panels, this also provides a solar power advantage of energy security, something the United States military has pointed out for years. A major reason why is that a lot of money is being put into the development and installation of solar panel systems. Solar power can also create jobs. As a huge source of energy, solar power is a job-creating powerhouse. Money invested in solar power creates three times more jobs than money invested in natural gas and other nonrenewable resources, not to mention
Global warming. It’s a highly controversial and well-known topic brought to the attention of many for the past few years. Global warming is an issue that is currently destroying our entire planet. But because humans are selfish, global warming is something we should avoid addressing. In fact, we should consider supporting this so-called “issue”, as its benefits for mankind outweigh the damages on the entire planet. Global warming is here to help mankind in many different ways. A non-stop beneficial lifestyle comes from the increased temperatures of the world, outrageously rising water levels and an atmosphere filled with carbon dioxide.
Global climate change, something that most people in the world are not taking as seriously as they should. Many people believe that climate change is a phenomenon; a conspiracy theory to engage people into spending more money. When the world became industrialized, we lost our way on protecting our Earth, our only planet. Industrialization is why our environment is in critical condition. Advocating and government officials are necessary for a decrease of Greenhouse Gas emissions into our atmosphere. For our environment to thrive, changes need to happen and they can begin with yourself.
I have noticed that climate change has been a big issue this year. I think it's very important to talk about Global warming and be aware of the causes of it. We all should want to take care of this earth, because we are the ones living here. We should make people more aware of the greenhouse effect and how it can affect us.
What would our world, the place we call home be like if we were to just keep living our lives as if global warming was not an issue? Would our coastlines or beaches be underwater? What about the farmland that we depend on for food? The purpose of this paper is persuade you, the reader that we as individuals can help save the planet from the negative effects of global warming and provide a better future for our children.
“Most of the observed warming that we have seen (verb) in the last 50 years is likely to be due to human activity, due to greenhouse gases,” claims Dr. David Karoly (noun), an expert in climate change. Some people believe that global (adjective) warming is just a naturally occurring thing on (preposition) Earth. However, humans are causing global warming because they (pronoun) are putting too much carbon dioxide in the air, the temperatures are increasing more rapidly than normal, and (conjunctions) the ice caps are melting at an alarming rate. Humans are the main cause of global warming.
Global warming has been a very controversial topic in the 21st century that is very well divided into two groups. There are those who believe it’s just a myth, and then there are those who absolutely believe global warming is occurring. There is completely no doubt that why someone should deny that fact that the Earth is undergoing global warming right now. Global warming is the term used to describe the Earth’s increase in temperature of the Earth’s atmosphere and its oceans which influences the increase of climate. Since the start of the industrial revolution, climate has increased since the overload of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere increasing average temperatures. Many people deny that the Earth is currently undergoing global warming, but don’t take a chance to look at the evidence. This event is something one should take into consideration because it could not only just affect the
Global Warming will continue to be a monstrous problem to be dealt with, when thinking of the future what needs to be considered is how long can the Earth keep sustaining life with little to no change. Change cannot happen overnight but, with nations working together to fix a common goal it is possible to put in motion a considerable change that will benefit the generations to come. Global warming cannot keep being put off, the risks are to great to ignore anymore, it is everyone’s problem therefore, it takes everyone to make the situation okay. Scientists need to keep raising awareness to get people to jump into action, the quicker the better. Politicians like Al Gore need to be more involved in the truth and facts surrounding climate change
The Topic I am interested in pursuing for the persuasive essay is about The Global Warming. I am interesting in this Topic because I learned from my past experience working for The State Parks in Florida as a Park Ranger; by helping everyone to understand that we need to take care our environment by contribute to help “Mother Earth”; in addition, Global Warming is a slow increment in the general temperature of the world’s air for the most part credited to the “Greenhouse” impact brought about by expanding levels of carbon dioxide, chlorofluorocarbon, and different contaminations chemicals; what’s more, I concur that this is going on at this moment and the normal worldwide temperature has expanded at the quickest rate in writing history. There has been much discussion recently about Global Warming, so you can see it on media, news, etc… By the way, and do you know what the causes behind this huge matter are? The word “Global Warming” divides in two: “Global” means something above borders or international and “Warming” means an alarm that something bad will happen; therefore, society needs to wake up and realize this matter that it is happening now in days, because the increment of the Carbon Dioxide (CO2) is more and more. Like I said before, I pick up this Topic because I want to change peoples ' minds so they can do something about our environment; in addition, I really want to get a job that I can help with the environment of the company and explain the circumstances and
Global warming is a widely discussed topic amongst people worldwide, yet most of the human population fails to acknowledge it. The fact that “all but one of the 16 hottest years in NASA’s 134-year record have occurred since 2000” (MacMillan, par. 1), alone should provide enough reason to consider trying to make a change. With the global temperature increasing at an alarming rate, without changing the way the population hurts the environment, heat will trap like a greenhouse and the world will continue to get hotter. Human beings are the number one cause of global warming so further education is needed to learn how it affects the world and what changes need to be made about it.
What scientists predicted in the past is now occurring. Droughts, heat waves, change in precipitation, sea-level rises, ice melting, and currently most alarming; hurricanes. So why don’t we seem to care? We’re stuck between an on-going dispute between the effects that we cause on global climate and the policies that should be implemented to avoid these undesirable effects.
Everything is hot and dry. You haven’t had clean water in weeks or proper food in months. The sky is perpetually grey. You can’t remember a time when it was blue, or even just when the clouds were white. The air is suffocatingly toxic as if the very earth was dying. You’re a mile from the beach, but it’s far from pretty. It’s full of plastic and is too toxic and acidic to swim in; only bottom feeders can survive. Agriculture has fallen due to the UV radiation being too strong for most plants to survive. Humans have fallen back to being a hunter-gatherer species, as meat is too expensive to produce domestically with the lack of plants. You’ll die within a year. This is our planet in one hundred years. Many people talk about global warming and the planet dying, but have you really taken action to help slow the death of the planet? Though the problem and causes of global warming are complex, the answer is simple. Ecosystems are dying, but you can help slow the death of the earth by going vegan, vegetarian, or even just semi-vegetarian and letting your peers know about the effect the meat industry has on the world and how we can stop it.
Global warming could result in catastrophe and death if we don’t start making a change to finally put an end to climate change. The consequences of global warming can already be seen today and this is only the beginning. We aren’t just hurting ourselves we are hurting our environment and all the animals in it. The levels of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere are higher than they have been in centuries and it will only keep increasing. Nasa Tells us in their article Global Climate Change: Evidence, “it is extremely likely (greater than 95 percent probability) to be the result of human activity since the mid-20th century.” We are damaging the earth and hurting our future generations. America as a country needs to focus on moving towards greener energy and away from fossil fuels but right now it doesn’t seem to be happening. We need to put an end to the corruption and greed in our country that allows such large support for fossil fuels and begin moving towards greener energy. Global warming is a dangerous manmade phenomenon that could have devastating effects if we don’t come together and to something to stop it.
Global warming is a very well known and highly controversial topic across the world. Countless people are currently debating over whether or not it is occuring as well as what is causing it and the effects on the environment. Because such a large number of people are concerned for the Earth and the environment, a massive drive for the use of renewable resources rather than nonrenewable resources exists in the world. However, why do these people, including scientists and environmentalists, feel so strongly about bringing a change? Due to the damaging effects of using fossil fuels and nonrenewable resources on Earth, there is a motive to switch to renewable resources, such as solar energy or wind energy, in order to save the planet.
For decades now, global warming has been a recurring issue. The term “global warming” first appeared in geochemist Wallace Broecker’s 1975 Science magazine article, “Climatic Change: Are We on the Brink of a Pronounced Global Warming?” and since then dozens of more studies have evaluated the effects of the global warming. But what is global warming? Well global warming is the effect of greenhouse gases on the earth’s surface temperature. Greenhouse gases are gases like carbon dioxide, methane, and nitrous oxide that become trapped in the earth’s atmosphere. These gases raise the earth’s temperature. Human activity on earth, such as the burning of fossil fuels, add more gas to the atmosphere and excessively warm the planet. The US, being only one country, cannot stop global warming alone, but it can and should do its part to reduce emissions. However, we cannot just immediately stop all emissions. The main obstacle between us and a green energy economy is economics. Most of the energy sources we use either emit a large amount of CO2 and/or Methane or they are not economically feasible to switch to. Solar energy, however, maybe be the one energy source that can both eliminate emissions and provide energy to the country at a cheap price.
