Virtual reality is such a cool concept in technology. It’s something that a lot of people are at the very least intrigued by. Maybe not something that they think about or look up on a daily basis, but something that they may keep an eye on. I mean Google has sold over 5 million Google cardboards and has shipped over 10 million of them. For those that don’t know what Google cardboard is, it’s a virtual reality platform that Google made ( a cardboard headset) that you put on your head that you use in conjunction with your smart phone that can give you a virtual reality like experience. What you do is download some compatible apps, put your smart into the Google cardboard. Put it on your head and have some fun. I’m very interested in virtual reality and what the future holds for it. Especially being a person who loves to play video games. I haven’t gotten a chance to get my hands on a Playstation VR yet, but at some point I would love to try it out. Playstation VR for those that don’t know is Sony’s virtual reality device that you use with a Playstion 4. Playstaion has over 100 compatible games with the Playstaion VR and that just amazes me because it just released back in October of 2016.
Also there was an anime (a Japanese cartoon) that came out a few years back called “sword art online” that peaked my interest in virtual reality. Sword art online is set in the near future and focuses on various virtual reality MMORPG’s (Massively Multiplayer Online Role playing games).
Sitting and over thinking something can have an odd impact on our decisions and actions. When our worst fears intertwine with the deepest parts of our imagination, we tend to twist reality into what we believe can happen. It can be the simplest of things such as doubts in a relationship, or being nervous about the final exam that you have to take the following week. These thoughts can cause our withdraw from situations and can also cause us to make certain decisions that may or may not be for the best.
In the past, virtual reality technology was thought of by many as a gimmick, and the hope for it to become a mainstream technology was discarded as products did not work as how the public envisioned. However, the proper technology is now available to make virtual reality just that: a reality. The entertainment industry is on the verge of a monumental paradigm shift that will completely transform the way these entertainment mediums are experienced.
My name is Kerry Huxley, I am a recent graduate of Prosper High School. It has come to my attention that there is a debate whether or not we should accept or deny an offer made by Virtuosity regarding there new virtual reality system. I believe we should not accept this offer due to the flaw that technology can provide.
Virtual reality, also known as VR or computer simulated reality, is a new computer technology that mimic an real or imagined environment, VR simulates a user's physical presence and environment.it does this in a way that allows the person to touch and interact with it. VR aims artificially create a sensory experience for the user, which can include touch, Sight, Smell, and Hearing.
The pros of virtual reality outweigh the cons of virtual reality. Virtual reality help a lot of people that are lonely and giving them some help, maybe boosting their confidence or even providing them with information on how to do something like getting a date. According to the source: “ ‘A lot of people are lonely.’ Anderson admits. ‘ They want some sort of entertainment or companionship or a little bit of both.’” (Article 2, Page 8) This shows how, virtual reality can be used to help out the lonely people, the people that don't have confidence. Virtual reality is more of like a voice for the voiceless. Also, another way virtual reality shows how it has many pros, and those pros beat out the cons the following shows this from the text (My Virtual Girlfriend) : “I’ve been in a real relationship for almost a year and , in some ways, playing My Virtual Girlfriend reminded me of what my boyfriend and my early dalliances felt like.” Furthermore, both quotes support the claim of how people are struggling and disabled people, letting people believe, and it gives a pro over a con. It doesn't let people struggle, it gives people options, and you may ask how? Well, virtual reality allows you to believe that you are this, you are good at this that feeds into your mind and you begin to build your confidence to get that entertainment to go out
Virtual reality(VR) is a relatively new frontier in the technology industry. So new in fact, that, at its current stage, what it is and its potentials are unfamiliar to the general public. VR originally started gaining momentum as a new platform to game on, but its potential must be analyzed broadly in more than just one vocation. Because of the immersion VR provides, it has an immense capacity to benefit the educational field. Everyone is unique in the way they learn best; some people learn best by reading, some people learn audibly better, and, some people learn visually.
Virtual reality is an interesting topic. Today, technology develops so rapidly, and it becomes a vital role in society.
Medical Applications of virtual and augmented reality: Virtual reality is an interactive simulation that makes you feel like you are somewhere you are not. It is now starting to be used in the medical field. For patients that are in pain, virtual reality can be used to make it seem like they are in a different happier place. Studies show that it has the same effectiveness level as morphine, possibly even more effective. For therapists who help people with different fears, virtual reality can help conquer the fear. For example, a virtual reality for people suffering arachnophobia allows people to experience what it is like to have spiders surrounding them. Virtual reality can also be used for surgical training. Surgeons can practice surgery without the fear of hurting or injuring an actual patient. This is helpful because if they mess up, they do not have to deal with the consequences that come from surgical mistakes. Virtual reality is a very new and upcoming idea, and in the near future it has the potential to become much more common in a healthcare
Virtual reality, or VR, is an idea that has been around since the 1900’s with some traces of it showing up in the 1800’s. VR itself refers to a three-dimensional environment that can be interacted with in a number of ways, the most common being through VR headsets like the Oculus Rift. Such headsets are designed with lens in front of your eyes to enlarge an LED display, providing a wide range of viewing area and is usually combined with audio to provide an immersive experience. Although this idea has been around for multiple lifespans, it has only recently began to make any major impact on society. VR started catching people’s eye in gaming when the company Oculus released the Oculus DK1 for sale in March, 2013. Although VR has slowly become
Imagine a world, that is anything and everything. Race a dream car. Meet a superstar. Go to Paris, New York, London, or even see the Great Pyramids. A virtual reality - an idea that is coming to life, an idea that will change the world, whether it be good or bad. Ernest Cline, the author of Ready Player One, warned us that virtual reality is going to change the world. Ready Player One is a story about a teen named Wade, in a world where video games are everything. A virtual reality world called the OASIS changed the world into a place where people are antisocial and don’t care about the world anymore. Change with VR can already be seen with the invention of the TV, the phone, the iPhone, and numerous other inventions, It’s already happening - the world is blowing up over Vive, Oculus, Hololens, and more, and VR is going to make things happen: such as solving problems. Is change happening? Are problems going to be solved? Yes, we can already see change.
Oculus VR is a company that is working to develop a virtual reality for video
Once the technology had been developed to a point where it could actually be utilized, VR was often seen as more of a tool than a new method of entertainment. The technology was fine-tuned and then used in flight simulators during the 70s to train pilots before they got into a real plane. The technology then made its way to the entertainment industry during the video-game boom of the 80s. Since its inception, Virtual Reality technology has found a wide range of uses in very unpredictable ways. The military, the space program, medical students and even driving schools use virtual training environments that take place in a version of Virtual Reality.
As can be gathered, much of the discussion regarding this application of VR is unashamedly positive and optimistic with the future of the technology. Thus the proponents can be described as belonging to the Technological Deterministic school of thought. In other words, the technology has been created so therefore we must use it. VR is also largely associated with reaping in economic benefits, and if not now, is seen as a good investment for the future. Thus if there is a dollar sign attached to a specific technology there are inevitably going to be fewer critics, or at least less
(96) Virtual reality (VR) is define as a cybernetic simulation of 3D surroundings which can be interactive through auditory, sensory and visually stimulating equipment, i.e. gloves, headgear or headphones. VR is an incredibly recent development in technology and such has much room to progress with, I believe that VR is the future of animation as the key aim is to transport the viewer into the world we have created, VR being the next logical step as it creates this suspension of belief as well as activating all of the senses we use to perceive the real world.
Seeing is believing, these words are the best combination to understand the meaning of Virtual Reality (VR). VR is one of the best asset and aspect of our future. No other technology has seen such a revolution like VR has. It is practically in use in almost every field such as entertainment, gaming, defense, robotics, medical, healthcare, military, education, fashion, heritage, business, engineering and many more fields. VR sometimes called Virtual Environment has drawn much attention in the last two decade. Extensive media coverage causes the much more rapid increase in the interest of the masses. Very few people, however, really know what VR is and what are its open problems are. In this report a historical overview of virtual reality is presented, basic terminology as an introduction are listed, followed by applications of this technology in science, work, and entertainment areas. Its present developments are thoroughly discussed in this report. Finally, the future of VR is considered in two aspects: technological and social.
