Fast food is becoming part of our lives in the modern society. Due to convenience and rushing for time, many of us are now depending on fast food for our meal. Also, fast food is at almost anywhere, shopping center, highway, even an airport, to make it so easily accessible that We all find it very convenient. Added to their delivery services and fast services, it is not only convenient but also fast to save time when We are in the rush. We all eat fast food because it is convenient and tasty, and we are also attracted to lots of promotion and free gifts, but we do not know that every bite we take, we are risking our lives. Many of us know that fast food is not good for our health, but we do not know how bad it is. The rates of obesity and food related diseases in America continue to rise. Such as, children becoming overweight due to a constant fast food diet or get diabetes due to a diet consisting of too much sugar. In school, meals are provided for students but the food that is served is less than healthy. Most of the food served is processed and frozen food. While schools do provide meals for students, the food is unhealthy for them; therefore, we must change the food that the school serves.

I get it eating healthy can be a problem for some people even though you may just be that person that chooses not to eat healthy it can still be a struggle. With the increasing academic and extracurricular expectations placed on high-school students, we pack our schedules tightly with rigorous courses, extracurricular activities, and voluntary work. We believe that our future and success are dependent on the work we do as students, and we sacrifice our health towards that goal. Instead of feeding on the nutrition of healthy meals, we turn to fast-food that is convenient and with rising options minutes away from school. However, the rising rates of obesity in our youth urge active action to be taken to change this norm of our teens consuming fast-food. So the real question is " should restaurants be allowed to sell genetically modified "chicken" under the name chicken? Imagine driving home late after a long day at work, too exhausted to cook. But McDonald's is open 24 hours, so you get a late night bite in. But is it healthy? The city council don’t think so and has voted to ban fast food in Aberdeen, Washington. That means instead of being lazy and getting a meal that's unhealthy you can take your time and make a meal that is healthier at home.
All across the world, people are eating themselves alive by feeding their bodies disgusting fast foods. According to youngwomenshealth.org, processed fast foods are filled with artificial sweeteners, added fats, and other harmful chemicals (Center). These synthetic additives can cause serious health issues such as high blood pressure, heart disease, and obesity. Many individuals would rather eat something that could potentially be toxic to their health instead of eating something that is nutritious. People have to stop consuming fast foods because of the artificial ingredients that are added, the negative effects on a persons health, and the availability to healthier food options.

And with fast- food restaurants everywhere, from airports to college campuses, Americans are wasting more on these foods than in electronics, higher education, and new cars all together. Due to fast- food consumption, people who consume these foods are more likely to have medical problems. In addition, consumers of fast- food are unaware that most of the food they eat contain mysterious preservatives. Furthermore, most of the consumers are also unaware of the lack of food safety and the low food quality. All this factors make us ask whether or not fast-food should be banned?.
The dominating fast-food industry is the most prominent in America where there seems to be a restaurant on every block. The industry preys on Americans with their easily available and cheap food that leads to the prevalence of obesity and other health issues. People choose to give the industry their money in an effort to save money compared to buying healthier choices that cost more than the fast food. Society has moved to the mentally where we forgive and are more accepting of unhealthy eating and its consequences. Only when society, including the government, tackles uncaring attitude of the consequences of unhealthy eating can we progress to a society who makes more health conscious. The food industry and government can finds ways to make the healthier options more affordable to people who are on budgets and change the way people discuss and approach the issue of unhealthy eating and the health consequences.
