Zaxbys: Better Than Chick fil A
Ana Woodsides
Persuasive Speech
If you are from the south, you have probably heard of the fast food chain Zaxby’s. With more than 660 locations[bandwagon, logos], the company is worth billions, all made possible by two young entrepreneurs, Zach McLeroy and Tony Townley. The two have been best friends since fifth grade, where they decided that there was a need for better chicken. Later, McLeroy sold his drum set- giving up his rockstar career to start the chicken joint- which now boasts a annual revenue of about 1.7 billion. [anecdote, pathos]
Chick fil a, the fast food restaurant commonly compared to Zaxbys, is very biased when it comes to controversial issues such as gay rights.[creating a problem- ethos] For one, they have supported many anti-gay organizations that are proven to be harmful to people. As for ‘treatment’ these organizations use, it has been said “that (the) damage they inflict on individuals can be deep and lasting” (Condon, NBC News). One individual, Samuel Brinton, described the methods used in conversion therapy as “mental torture.” Even with two years of therapy, he is still not “cured” and now needs constant mental support as he often struggles with severe depression. Chick fil A continues to support these conversion organizations even though the American Psychological Association (APA), released a study in 2008 that stated “Homosexuality is not a mental disorder, and thus is not something that needs to or can be
Several marketing strategies are in place that set Chick-fil-A apart from the competitors. One of their key marketing strategies which is their well-known slogan, “Eat Mor Chikin”, they first introduced this June 1995 their first billboard stood in Atlanta with the eat more chicken cows, (Perreault, Cannon, & McCarthy, 2014, p. 591). It is one of the longest-running and one of the most successful advertising campaign in the United States (Perreault, Cannon, & McCarthy, 2014, p. 591). This slogan was created to entice customers to move away from the typical hamburger fast-food restaurant, and attempt something different from a strictly chicken restaurant. Some of the aspects of marketing strategies that are used by Chick-fil-A are not incredibly different than any other fast food restaurant in America. However, what does separate them is their Christian based beliefs. Chick-fil-A’s approach as a faith based and a giving company that strives to support our communities through charity. Some of the impressive opportunities that Chick-fil-A offers are it assists thousands of employees with fostering children, has a scholarship foundation set up called the WinShape Foundation established in 1984 to “shape winners” quoted from the video “Eat Mor Chikin” (Except on Sunday).
Prior to Cracker Barrel’s evaluation and termination of lesbian and gay employees, the company frequently denied them promotional opportunities, applicants being rejected, employees fired and decision makers became bias; nevertheless, both heterosexual and same-sex were employed with the company. The difficulties of implementing discrimination rules against sexual orientation, originates from these main factors: “employers view homosexuality as somehow detrimental to job performance or harmful to the company’s public profile;” more importantly, the company hasn’t established a nondiscriminatory policy against homosexuals; hence, it is “difficult to trace” (Harvey & Allard, 2015, p. 166). Seeing the rapid growth of the company being unfazed by the boycott and other movements in the media, Dan Evins felt empowered to continue rejecting homosexuals; hence, he did. The upward trending of the company’s profit, proves the vast support for Cracker Barrel’s actions.
Hello, my name is Susan Stewart. I am a member of the Wheatland High School Grad Night Committee. The committee is comprised of Volunteers who plan and facilitate the Safe and Sober Grad Night event for Wheatland High School graduates. Committee members are meeting with local community businesses and leaders like yourself, to ask if they would be interested in supporting an event aimed at keeping our local teens safe on such a celebratory night.
In this news article, it describes how a corporation like Chic Fil a is standing up for the businesses morals, values, and beliefs. I chose to include this article as it supports the argument that a business has a huge reputation to uphold and as business owner or representative makes a comment on controversial issue, such as refusing gays, it can lead to mass support or protest. Another reason I chose to include this article is because of the business the news story decided to cover. Chic fil a is a popular fast food restraint and is known for its great customer service and Christian
I am sure that everyone of you have heard about aliens and UFOs. Indeed, we all have heard about the famous case of aliens and UFOs in Roswell, New Mexico. Most people might be interested in the topic of aliens, but I know that the majority of you just think of it as rumours and the existence of them are impossible. Therefore, I am standing here in front all of you to make you change your perspective. I am strongly confident that I have found the evidence of their real existence to convince all of you.
The Chick-fil-A's current boss Dan took a great risk by publicly making such statements. The company ought toshunaway from instigatingsuch offencesfor the sake of the company not to be boycotted in future. Clearly, Dan Cathy mustat all cost, never repeat the similarslip-ups. Now, they shouldrectify the situation and settle down the substantial damages that were caused and these include; loss of businessturnover with the gay community and their supporters and the bad reputation the company now has.
CFA managed to create a controversy which supported gay population of America but at the same time it accumulated support from conservative America. We think the reasoning behind that is, people’s respect and understanding of the first Amendment of US constitution, freedom to express your opinion and exercise right to voice religious beliefs. It states, “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances”. CFA supporters organized Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day, leading to record sales throughout the chain. Latest sales data are just further proof that all that negative coverage didn't hurt demand for chicken sandwiches among Chick-fil-A's core
Persuasive speech outline purpose: To persuade my audience to donate blood through the American Red Cross. Introduction:
The owner of Five Guys, Jerry Murrell, was very successful when it came to his burger business. He didn’t have to do much advertising when he first opened, his shop got business by word of mouth. Murrell operated his business differently than other owners, he used the best ingredients, even if they were more expensive. Since he didn’t have much money to expand, his sons persuaded him to franchise his business, which Murrell was very against, but he did it. After franchising, thousands of businesses have opened all over the United States and now the world. When Murrell opened his first burger joint, he only put $35,000 into it including the rent and machinery. I learned from this that it doesn’t require much money to reach out and start your
It was October 6, 1998 when he was lured from the bar that cold, fateful night. His skull was smashed with a pistol butt as he was lashed to a fence, left for dead in near freezing temperatures. Nearly eighteen hours later he was found by passersby and taken to a hospital where we remained in a coma for several days until slowly slipping away. At his funeral, picketers carried signs saying, "God Hates Fags" and *Fags Deserve to Die."
In 1982, Jim Disbrow and Scott Lowery opened up their first restaurant and called it “Buffalo Wild Wings & Weck” near the campus of The Ohio State University. The two entrepreneurs grew the restaurant to thirty-five restaurants over the next twelve years. Unfortunately, the cost of the growth was potentially bankruptcy-inducing debt. In 1994, Sally Smith became Chief Financial Officer and two years later became Chief Executive Officer. Under Smith’s leadership, Buffalo Wild Wings escaped the throngs of debt and prospered for almost a decade before going public in 2003. In an effort to target a larger audience and build their brand, Buffalo Wild Wings revamped its restaurant in 2012. This meant removing “Grill & Bar” from its name in addition to a refreshed logo and redesigned restaurant (Buffalowildwings.com). Today, Buffalo Wild Wings is the premier sports-bar in America for sports fans, but also a great option for families eating out. This paper will analyze current remote and external environments that shape the business strategies that have led, and should lead to another decade of excellence.

For example, using a leftover coffee can for loose nails or screws, or even washing and reusing a plastic zip-loc bag instead of throwing it in the garbage. Thrift shopping is a way of reusing someone else’s unwanted goods. As I spoke about in an earlier speech about thrifting, I included many locations and ways to thrift, also the benefits to the shopper and the donator. One place in particular was shopping at the local boys and girls club. I personally shop there, keeping my eyes open for a good deal. For example, the pair of jeans that I am wearing today was purchased from this store just a few months ago. I paid only $8.00 for this pair of Lucky Jeans and according to buckle.com, a retailer for lucky jeans the retail price is $99.00 that is a savings to me of $91.00.I am not the type to worry about name brands, but quality usually does cost more. If I can get a quality pair of jeans at a fraction on the price, I am glad to shop at the thrift store. I am thankful to the person that made the donation of the lucky jeans and they can benefit from that donation. According to the IRS webpage, IRS. Gov it explains that an individual can donate items like clothing, household furniture and furnishings, a car or boat, even taxidermy. The donations are appraised, by the donator, and recorded. At the time of filing taxes if the donation equals at least $500 for the year, the donator may take advantage of the

Welcome to the Future Foreign Urban Careers Convention, also known as F. F.U.C.C. or F-FOOK-K. I know you are all anxious to travel to distant lands, embark upon adventures, and begin working on your first million in your chosen career fields! STOP! Before you board that airplane, I am attempting to SAVE YOUR LIFE--at the most keep you from arrest or fines--at the least, embarrassment. I have been asked by the Chairperson of F-FOOK-K to speak to you today because there just may be no one more qualified to address the topic of Foreign Faux Pas than “moi”. FAUX PAS is French. Spelled as if it should be pronounced FOX PASS, but it IS NOT! The X and the S are, SILENT. And that, friends, should be the first faux pas you step around. According to Vocabulary.com Dictionary, Faux pas literally means false step; social blunder. Do not take a false step into a big pile of . . . embarrassing or offensive unlawful, social crap. Why me, you ask? Unfortunately, I have seen the inside of more foreign police stations, consulates and embassies than most heads of state; probably more than most talking heads, radioheads, OR Deadheads, and CERTAINLY more than any heads of class. My first ‘faux’ arrest was at the tender age of 6 while my father was US Ambassador to Singapore; I simply forgot to flush the toilet in a public restroom. Who knew?!? My parents were lucky to only pay a small fine under the table, to get me released from mall security that time. When I
