This is difficult at first though essential to understand if you wish to play with expression and feeling. It's very easy to play the keyboard having understood a piano, or a piano-styled keyboard, however, it's hard to grasp the piano style keys if you have only played the keyboard.

Begin the exercise with an easy tune you know well. (Top of the World, Fur Elise, etc.) You will probably be most acquainted with the melody, therefore, try out the top part first or right-hand.
Try to apply (do, re, mi, fa, so, la, ti, do) keys to fit the hums of the melody. (Sounds weird? I know, but assists) If not, try applying the sharp or "black" keys to fit the pitch. As you advance, try more difficult accompaniments as

Learn the finger placement techniques. Efficient finger placement will help your practice so much more. Liken this to multiplication. For example, you were given the mathematical problem 6 plus 6 plus 6 a hundred times, would you 5 * 100 or do 5 + 5 + 5 +...? Obviously the first option. Likewise, if you use a more efficient finger placement, why not practice it? It takes one minute extra to work out what finger placement fits you best. One minute spent at the present could save you days later when you attempt to change your finger placement.
Know how your hand muscles work. Mostly this comes from a common logic. For instance, you can effortlessly figure out something with the index finger. How about the ring finger (thumb translates to 1, index translates to 2, middle translates to 3, ring, translates to 4, pinkie translates to 5) I'm not a professional in human anatomy, nonetheless it's likely that a thumb and the index finger have separate muscles, whereas the third, fourth and fifth fingers have muscles linked to each other. Consequently, don't use agonizingly painful fingering, for instance pressing the center C with the pinkie then for the E key with the thumb and the G with the ring
Holding the bow: Your thumb should be in the curve at the end of the bow, and your pinky should be at the very end of the bow. Lastly, your index finger should be on the black grip on the bow, and the middle and ring finger should rest in the middle of the index and pinky finger. (fingers should be slightly curved)

In order for me to attain my goal, I would need to look into what I want to learn and break it down into smaller steps. The Piano Lesson is a Southern Gothic play in which the living, as well as the dead, have a strong connection to the piano. The piano has a tragic origin that dates back generations. The piano was originally obtained by Robert Sutter who traded slaves for the instrument because he could not afford to purchase it outright. The piano was meant to be a gift for his wife, who coincidentally grew weary of the instrument and began to miss her slaves. In an attempt to quell her depression, Robert Sutter commissioned that the slaves' portraits be engraved in the piano; in addition to the slaves that were traded, the woodcarver also included their families and family histories. Because of the ties to slavery between the piano, the Sutters, and the Charles family, Berniece and Boy Charles came to believe that as long as the Sutters owned the piano, they would continue to own the Charles'. Due to this belief, the Charles' become obsessed with obtaining and owning the piano. During the course of trying to get the piano from the Sutters, the Charles' sacrificed much of themselves and caused many deaths.
The Piano Lesson opens with a man, Boy Willie, knocking on the door of Doaker and his niece, Berniece, home at 5 a.m. He brings his friend Lymon and they drove up north by Lymon’s truck that was filled with a lot of watermelons. Berniece is Boy Willie’s brother and he has not been back in a while. He then starts to say that the sheriff is following him but they did not do anything. They are trying to sell the watermelons to get money. He got the watermelons for free so he will make a good profit. Berniece is trying to figure out how long the boys will be staying. Boy Willie says he is going to head back down south when they sell the watermelons but Lymon is staying up north.

Every musician, myself included, has a powerful love hate relationship with the metronome. There may be no tool in the history of mankind that could be both so helpful, yet so frustrating, at the same time. Nonetheless, it is unquestionably the most important device for improving your technical proficiency. While there are an infinite number of ways to utilize, my favourite method is what I like to call “overshooting.”
