The beginning of Pink Floyd was something Britain had never seen, and really shined light on this band. Of course, they did not invent psychedelic rock by any means but did begin their own twist within this genre. There was several bands in the US that had played this genre before Pink Floyd in the late 1960’s. Their first official non-live album was Piper at the Gates of Dawn, which Britain considers this album a prime example of psychedelic rock. On August 4, 1967 this album was released. The album showed avant music, such as whimsical rock all the way to melancholic rock. Pink Floyd was not loyal to one specific genre, but ventured out beyond

Pink Floyd is a band that has changed the music of their era. Pink Floyd formed their band in the mid 1960s. At this point the band was considered an acid rock band Playing small shows, halls, and house parties. Underground celebrities in England Pink Floyd shows were riddled with drug use. Fans would consume LSD before the show to experience the psychedelic experience. The band did not play short pop like songs like people were used to, instead they had a different idea. They would go on to play long improvised songs that would seem to have no end. This concept was a heavy influence from the lead guitar player, singer, and songwriter, Syd Barrett.
The contrast between the light cream background and the maroon blouse have successfully drawn in viewers attention. The contrasting colours have made the overall artwork standout. The viewers eyes are snatched towards the vibrant red then it is directed to Kramer’s peaceful expression. Her expression is identified as the focal point of the painting. It encapsulates the meaning of stillness expressing the relaxation and tranquilness. Greensmith had chosen to use a variety of different colour tones to help sculpt and emphasis Kramer’s features. The use of darker shades towards her left side creates a shadow, indicating her angled sitting position.

Despite the image being popular, unless involved in feminist news or having interest in the march that took place in January plenty may not know about this piece of art, and yet it continues to gain popularity in the form of t-shirts, prints, and many other products. The artist made sure it would be widely available even after the march so fans of the work as well as the feminist movement can use it as they
Its first seen as an ad for a Magritte exhibit, and later at the museum, then in Crown’s library/home office. On the right I see a common man stirring a cauldron filled with iron and water. He is trying to melt the iron from broken pots and pans so that they can be made into weapons. He is alone, and he is in a forest. On the top right side of the page the words, “work with the” are written. On the left side of the poster there is a large table with food piled high on top of it. Surrounding it are hundreds of people waiting to get their specific serving because of the Communist laws. On the top left side of the page are the words, “gain from the.” At the bottom of the page is the word “community.” This poster combines two important scenes from the book. The scene on the left of the poster is when all the people, like Fugui and his family, go into town
The moving stories hidden within the lyrics of his music, and songs of his albums are a great part of the Waters experience. In the play-like album The Wall (1979) it slowly explains the life of an overprotected boy named Pink. It goes through his life of how his father died in World War II, and his eventual wall casting him from society and normal life. The album shows personal isolation, neglect, and use of drugs throughout the ninety minutes it takes to listen to it. The most popular album made by Pink Floyd, Dark Side of the Moon (1973), which sold over seventy-million copies has a story, but not one within the album. The story to pay attention to is a movie, The Wizard of Oz (1939). If you
I decided to choose my subject by walking around the museum and seeing which one “called” to me. I chose Glisten (1972) by Sam Gilliam because the bright colors grabbed me as soon as I saw it and a feeling of happiness washed over me. Sam Gilliam (b. 1933) is a very well known African-American painter, innovative for his use of three-dimensional canvases (University of Kentucky), who is a part of the American Abstract Artists group, as well as many other movements, such as the Washington Color Field movement (Malyon). Glisten is a 27 x 73 15/16 x 3” acrylic on canvas 3-dimensional artwork (University of Kentucky).
