The Sony Playstation 3 (PS3) is the most recent game consoles by Sony Inc. to come out. Becoming the trilogy of the Playstation series, the PS3 packs many of the same or similar characteristics as the Playstation 2 (PS2). But it also has its own characteristics which places it on another level. Being a highly priced console (ranging from $400-$600), there is a lot offered from the PS3 console. It includes high-definition graphics (HDTV compatible), a Blu-ray disc hard drive, wireless controllers, Gigabit Ethernet, and a built-in Bluetooth. It allows a player to turn and tilt in three-dimensional space to steer driving or flying games. Although I have yet to experience this, I bet that it could be very fun and interesting. It is lighter than the previous controllers for Playstation and Playstation2. There is only one controller present when purchasing the console, but for a second controller it cost $50. So if you get bored playing alone there is room for others to play. The console supports up to seven players at a time. And if that’s not enough, join online gamers through the Gigabit Ethernet.
Yeah that’s right! You can play, chat, message, or even shop at the specialty gaming stores online with the Gigabit Ethernet. Similar to the PS2, Sony has made this service available on the PS3. The difference between the two is that there is more to offer on the PS3’s Ethernet service then the PS2’s Ethernet service. It is also considered faster to connection then the PS2. So if you enjoy playing sport games or army games, Ethernet makes it way more fun. Instead of playing the same people or computer over and over again, play millions of others from across the world online. I have join many groups playing Rainbow Six (strategic army game) and NCAA 09 (college football game). I have played with and against people from all over the US.
