I destroy homes and tear families apart, I take your children and that’s just the start. I’m more valued than diamonds more precious than gold. The sorrows I bring are a sight to behold. If you need me, remember I’m easily found. I live all around you in school and in town. I live with the rich I live with the poor. I live just down the street and next door. I’m made in a lab, but not one you think. It can be made in the kitchen sink, in your child’s closet. If this scares you too DEATH, then it certainly should. I have many names, but there’s one you know best, I’m sure you've heard of me, my names CRYSTAL METH. My power is awesome, try me you'll see. But if you try me twice I’ll steal your soul. When I possess you, you'll steal and …show more content…
You’ll lie to your mother and steal from your dad. When you see there tears, you must feel sad. Just forget your morals and how you were raised, I’ll be your conscience, I’ll teach you my ways. I take kids from their parents, and parents from their kids. I turn people from GOD. I separate friends. I’ll take everything from you, your looks and your pride. I’ll be with you always, right by your side. You’ll give up everything, your family, your home, your money, your friends, and then you'll be ALONE. I’ll take and I’ll take till you have no more. When I finish with you, you'll be LUCKY to live. You try me be warned, this is not a game, if given the chance I’ll drive you INSANE. I’ll ravage your body; I’ll control your mind. I’ll own you completely. Your soul will be MINE. The nightmares I’ll give you when you’re lying in bed, the voices you'll hear from inside you head. The sweats, the shakes and the visions you'll see I want you to know these are gifts from me. By then it’s too late and you'll know in your heart. That you are now mine and we shall not part. You’ll regret that you'd try me (they always do). You come to me, not I to you. You know this could happen, many times you were told, but you challenged my power, you chose to be
Thank you for giving me the chance to keep looking for the love I should have. I really hope you take advantage of your decision as well, to look for the kind of love and care that’s better for you. Thank you for not being selfish and possessive, for not keeping my heart in captivity. Thank you for setting me free knowing it’s not only for my good but for the both of us.
Richard Blanco is a Cuban- American poet who was given the oppurunity to write an inaugaration poem for Barack Obama's second swearing-in. Lorna Dee Cervantes' poem, “Poema para los Californios Muertos” (“Poem for the Dead Californios”), is a commentary on what happened to the original inhabitants of California when California was still Mexico, and an address to the speaker's dead ancestors. Utilizing a unique dynamic, consistently alternating between Spanish and English, Cervantes accurately represents the fear, hatred, and humility experienced by the “Californios” through rhythm, arrangement, tone, and most importantly, through use of language.
has nothing I desire besides you. My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is
I. I will take over your thoughts, control your needs and make you believe you are hopeless, worthless and helpless. I will drain the life right out of you, until you no longer want to get out of bed. Every one of you will experience me in your life time, whether it’s through your mother, uncle, sibling, best friend or even first hand. I have even taken lives, and I don’t discriminate against age, gender, race, religion, or

“Never, Never, Never, Never, letting go/Never giving up, Never saying no/Just go, go, I never stop/I never think/To do, do, do, the right thing/I want to go/I want to fight/I want to rush/I want to run/I want to see you again/Under the setting sun/We will kiss/We will laugh/We will be a part/Of what is said to be/A union of the heart”
And everything I am bursts into bloom. I feel as though you must, you must be mine, Not as a possession but a goal, you’re a unimaginable beauty. The free devotion of another soul. As though I were about to enter heaven Or just within the hour condemned to die, My mind with one fierce thought keeps running over, With you, and only you, the reason why”. it killed me to accept that i was such an ugly person. That i managed to push away everyone that I truly cared about. Did you see? How perfectly I played it? Like it didn't even hurt... like I was tired of the tedious speeches i had to go through everyday; telling you that I didn't want you or that you never mattered to me. And you actually had the guts to believe it all. If you could see my insides screaming at me, if you could, for a second peak at my dying heart, to just get a glimpse you would understand the monstrous act I play every time we see each other. But aggravate all you want, this beast only does this for its own protection. Who are you to think that you can just come here and change my rules? to bend my lifestyles? To make me a poet?
Cold sheets. Black coffee. Blue bruises. The past six years. I want the flowers to die —give me comforting ice. Butterfly knife kisses. Helium-filled head sickness.
You were my everything, you were there for me. And now you left me empty, nothing in my caged heart. The emptiness inside me is the only way to safety. You broke me and left me empty, but know I’m stronger than you will ever be.
“Popo! Popo! Do you really want to go through with this?” Maximiliano says “I know she was your true love, but do you want to fall off into the deep end?”
I thought I should delete some of this to make it shorter and get to the point. Read all of it and see if you can tell when I stop going down a one way road of doubt..... after I get out the hurt and start hitting that raw emotion from below. I love YOU so much Jeremy. I love myself too and for US for being fierce in my detour.. and yes you are a fierce! Also the best man I’ve ever know. I use to think God always shit on me, until I saw you. We have been the fight club except we have both been fighting the same enemy…my Addiction! While I thought you were just being…”difficult” we both knowing you could close up shop and drop in, any moment you wanted too… I know you’ve done more for me than any other person has for another. Yes, you bop me on the head with your club… so I take it and hit myself harder to feel it and confirm with both of us what we need to
Ignoring that you’re finite And really have nowhere to rush Can you see me? Here, out in the bent mesquite Forever standing in the sun I’m the child of your passion When you thought you were The One You still may be.
Some of the poems and essays I have read during this class were relatable to me. Being away from college, I have struggled with not being at home. I have become a different person when I am at school, but when I am home, I feel like I am my normal self again. Some of these authors of the poems and essays that I have read throughout this class has struggled with being somewhere where they don’t belong and that they are someone else when they are not home. Unlike the other poems and essays we have read throughout the course. I enjoyed reading the ones about “home” because I actually understood what they are going through and that I can relate. Some of these poems and essays include “Going Home” by Maurice Kenny, Postcard from Kashmir”, by Agha Shahid Ali, “Returning” by Elias Miguel Munoz and “Hometown” by Luis Cabalquinto. All of these poems deal with duality.
