A controversy issue in the United States is whether or not we should be involved in the controlling international pollution. Pollution is problem world-wide. Many would like to be involved in pollution while others would not. I believe that the United States should not be involved in the controlling of international pollution.
First of all, trying to solve the problem of pollution is a waste of money. The United States might be the only one that cooperates for the money and some other countries would not want to be involved. This might produce tax burden for the people in the United States. In addition, controlling pollution would take a long time. Before the process starts there has to be a plan in ways to control pollution and preventing
Pollution is a major problem for all of us. People need to recognize this situation so we can start making a difference to this problem. In order
Keeping the pollution to a minimal isn’t the easiest thing in the world to do. The major water pollutants are chemical, biological, or physical materials that
Pollution has only become a global problem, or been recognised as a global problem in the last few years. The question at hand, of eliminating all pollution can be worse than 'bad', warrants validity as it would severely decrease the standard of living (and many other technological advances that make our life pleasurable) along with the goods and services provided by the polluters. It is not feasible to eliminate all pollution, nor is pollution purely a problem of industrial societies. The issue for economists is how to reach the optimal level of pollution as there is distortion interfering with the working of what is known as
The USA is a country that doesn't help to stop climate change, instead, they make it worse especially with the new president Donald Trump that don't believe in this, and they are the ones who use more resources on the entire planet. In my honest opinion, I think that the US have to stop being consumers, being ambitious, and buy, and buy things that don't need. Trump have to change his mind according to the climate change, have to think in the future, and not only making more money, and creating things that are destroying our only home. Humans have to think in the future generations, we are destroying all the resources we have, we are extinct all the animals, every day we create more, and more contamination, pollution, Humans have to change their minds to help with this problem.
It is morally wrong for the majority of the world population to suffer based off the decisions and actions of a privileged minority. The countries that are creating so much pollution should not only take actions to reduce emissions, but also to help repair all the damage they have caused to other, less fortunate countries worldwide.
One of the major reasons that the rest of the world is unhappy with the United States is that we produce the most greenhouse gasses on the planet. The reason for this is our large amounts of factories and inadequate transportation.
I thing that the most pressing issue for our enviornment in North Americe, is the pollution of our air and water. I believe this is the biggest issue because it effects everyone, and everyone should care. Some people may not care how many trees we cut down, or the fact that their fruits and veggitables are all geneticly modified and are coverd in pestisides. And if they dont care about our air and water now, they deffinately will when it staarts to make them sick, or they have to wear and face mask covering their mouth and nose in order to breathe outside without getting completed contaminated. Or when they start drinking unfiltered water, and chugging down loads of floride, and start to notice themselvees getting less healthy. I believe that this is an increasing issue as more, and more factories are being built, more cars are
Climate change is one of the most concerning issue in the history foriegn policy. It encompuses not only the United states but the entire world. Which is why it is hard to create procedures and establish alliances concerning global climate change because greenhouse admission are not created by the actions of one nation. Addressing climate change is going to be a massive task. Every nations who emitts green house gasses must become part of some sort of a global agreement. This agreement will require new thinking when it comes to foriegn policy. The United States has recently created a Task force to deal with climate change. The task force recomends creating a treaty between the world's biggest emitters including China
If we cut off environmental regulations then this will also give the U.S. to have cheaper things and create new jobs for the environment and this is good because many Americans aren’t employed. The U.S. will have a better position in most thing and most importantly the health of the economy. The U.S. will also be able to control its environment and economy with no restrictive international environmental agreements. International organizations can work on themselves and make the best in their economy. The U.S. doesn’t have to support any environmental issues that might cause danger to its
The United States, as well as all other developed and developing countries, must chose the welfare of the earth over the huge amounts of money to be made by exploiting the earth 's riches. Our great country should become the leader in paving the way for a brighter and safer future for our next generations. The United States should also continue to develop treaties with other major countries such as China, Russia, and Japan to slow the poisoning of the earth 's air and water supply. We must act and invest now in new technologies which assist in detecting and proving theories such as global warming.
Being a world power and a major source of global warming the United States should be a driving force in creating a solution, but it is not. In fact, the United States has increased carbon dioxide output 4.5 percent from 1997-2001 (Gelbspan 11). One proposed solution to global warming is the Kyoto Treaty. The Kyoto Treaty states that developed countries will need to lower their carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gas emissions to 1990 levels by 2012 (A Stepping Stone 8). The needed reductions for emission levels after 2012 are currently being negotiated (Milne 10). The Kyoto Treaty has been embraced by many countries such as Great Britain and Japan, but not the United States (McKibben, Climate of Denial 34-35). Participation from the United States in the Kyoto Treaty would add legitimacy to the solution. As a world leader, the United States should not stand on the sidelines as most of the international community attempts to create a solution. This creates a viewpoint in the international community that the United States does not care about the environment and how they are harming it. This negative view in the international community will ultimately harm the United States image as a world power. If the United States continues to reject proposals, such as the Kyoto Treaty, from the international community, the international community will likely begin to reject and disregard the
I feel that the United States could be doing a lot more to help prevent the climate changes. Producing oil and coal to better our economy seems to be the main focus rather than making the changes necessary to take some effective action. Europe has more interest
The primary cause of climate change is the burning of fossil fuels. Carbon pollution causes more frequent and severe storms, floods, heat waves, and wild fires. Power plants and major industrial facilities in Georgia Emitted more than eighty-five metric tons of carbon pollution in 2011. Thirteen counties in metro Atlanta are currently in nonattainment because the region does not meet the federal air quality standard. The American Lung Association’s “State of the Air 2015” report gave a failing grade on ozone to Gwinnett County where I currently live in Metro Atlanta. Metro Atlanta’s air pollution problem is due to the population growth, traffic congestion, and the lack of a large scale transit system. In 2000 the American Lung Association’s “State of the Air” ranked Atlanta as the ninth most populated city for the ozone but we have improved since then. The south usually has problems with the ozone due to more sunlight and warmer temperatures. Nationwide nearly forty-four percent of the people live in a place where pollution levels are often too dangerous to breath.
Pollution is causing our entire ocean ecosystem to go downhill. While many people are oblivious to that statement, there are also many good minded people who can see the truth. The amount of trash that is being put into our oceans, even intentionally, is mind blowing. “There are 5.25 trillion pieces of plastic debris in the ocean. Of that mass, 269,000 tons float on the surface, while some four billion plastic microfibers per square kilometer litter the deep sea” (Ocean Trash). All of that trash are products of people being lazy and just dropping it in the street. Many charities and institutions are opening up funding accounts that are trying to help, but the world needs everyone to take part in lessening the pollution problem and make substantial changes around our world. Without everyone helping, the world's oceans could possibly be in peril. As a nation, we will have to take chances and make a change in the way we dispose of trash and other polluting matter. Many individuals are oblivious to the drastically increasing pollution epidemic in all of our oceans, but it will soon enough be apparent to any regular person if we do not take measures into our hands.
When states deal with international issues such as global warming - it’s common for accusations to be made rather than actions. For example, although the United States hasn’t formally accepted the Kyoto Protocols, they have been quick to judge China for its levels of pollution that rank the worst globally. Needless to say, the U.S. has failed to make meaningful impact themselves and rank second worst (Union of Concerned Scientists). States need to begin to work together and come to the understanding that the environment is a collective good considering everyone uses it and is responsible for taking care of it (Miller 2016, Module 13). States would benefit from a cleaner environment regardless of the sacrifices made in the form of short term negative economic effects caused by industrialization, new technologies and individual economies that depend on them, overall we would see reduced greenhouse gas emissions (Goldstein and Pevhouse 2014, 312). During his TED talk, Al Gore says “we can mobilize resources and political will. But the political will has to be mobilized in order to mobilize the resources” (Al Gore Module 12). When superpowers such as
