Physicians are essential in the medical field, able to take care of you and make sure that you’re healthy is what makes them vital.

A physician is responsible for seeing the overall health care of their patients and make sure nothing might jeopardize their health. Because of that, they have to make sure they diagnose them correctly and prescribe the right amount of medicine to them, otherwise it can lead to serious consequences. If the patient comes back and still feel ill, then they diagnose them again, to see if the illness is more serious than previously thought. If so then they have to send the patient to a specialist. Some of the courses you might have to take are physics, biology, calculus and linear algebra, but all depends on the college and program you’re in. Sometime pre-med majors will take an internship during the summer, so they can get college credit and insight experiences on what it’s like being a physician. For example, during the summer at Kaiser Permanente, pre-med students will occasionally be interning under a regular doctor and the doctors will teach them how to do a proper check-up and how to prescribe medication to their patients.

The physician needs to know how to do math because they have to know how much medication is in the prescription and whether it’s too strong or too weak for the patient. For example, if a person has a minor wound on his/her body the physician must figure how what
