Uniforms, Or Not
Preppy private school vs. Casual Open School.
Most kids like the school Uniforms, but most kids don’t. I believe kids should have the freedom to be creative and have individuality. The most thing that is bad about having a school uniform is that if you have a ton of casual clothes then what are you supposed to do with the clothes?! Just give it away, sell it? Well, some school’s need to really work on the dress code. At my school, You're not allowed to wear crop-top, show your belly button, wear sandals, or wear less than 3 fingers in length. If we had more control… Most kids wouldn’t wear what you're NOT supposed too! Plus we would have school uniforms if we had more control over the kids. Only High-classified
Dress codes are not helping schools like they are meant to do; they are actually harming students in the school. Dress codes shame students and make them insecure about their bodies. They also disrupt precious class time that is vital to students. Buying clothes to fit the school dress code is costlier than some families can afford. Not only are dress codes stifling, but they are also unfair toward specific body types and different genders. Dress codes also decrease a student’s ability to be different from all of their peers in the way they dress. Schools should not have dress codes because they are sexist, unfair and disrupt class time.
Student should be free to wear whatever they want. Students have shown how strong and considerate they are of others. Students have learned to not judge a book by its cover. School uniforms never really capture the full creativity of a student. Students need to be thinking of their future kids and if they want their kids to wear uniforms. Many students have complained about school uniforms because they feel like their not themselves. Students love to be free and not told what to wear. The parents have even complained about the school uniforms in many ways. The parents have said school uniforms are way too expensive and don’t want to pay as much. Parents do not feel it is right that their kids can not express themselves because of school uniforms. Parents want to see their kids grow up with creativity and imagination. Therefore school uniforms should be abolished from
Secondly, most dress codes that are enforced are so extreme and unnecessary. Children are suspended for unnecessary reasons such as shaving his head in awareness for cancer patients. According to a child from third-grade’s mom, “A Colorado third-grader was suspended after shaving her head to show support for a friend battling cancer, because she 'd violated her school 's dress code banning shaved heads,” (Hoevel). Dress codes are so extreme that even a shaved head is not appropriate for some schools. When students just want to show awareness of cancer and other diseases, school 's discipline them for something so
My first reason for being against school uniform is individuality. When I say individuality I mean it as expressing yourself, wearing what you want to wear, not what you have to wear. Also, individuality can mean expression of course, freedom, and detrimental effects on students
School dress codes have become a very large issue, though it always has been, but now that students have been protesting against their school's dress code there have been many more problems that are surfacing between the school district and the students. School dress codes are taking away the purpose of school, students come to learn, and to be educated, but instead are forced to change their clothing because it doesn’t fit the school dress code. The dress code solely takes away students creativity and their right to explore with clothing. The administration also tells students to “not care what others think” then take students out of class and tell them that the length of their shorts is making a
School Dress Codes are believed to help the student body learn, but it just denies us the ability to express ourselves. First Amendment (Amendment I) to the United States Constitution, “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances”. It denies us the freedom of speech, the right to express any opinions without censorship or restraint. It doesn’t allow us our rights as U.S. citizens. Schools need to move away from conformity to adaptability. Instead of suppressing students, schools should promote the
Why do we need uniforms? Most student have their own style, but a common argument against school uniforms is that they take away the students right to show their sense of style, creativity and culture. Yes, school uniforms may limit what the students have to wear, but he/she can still have their own ways of self-expression in many forms. Students can still express their style of choice by what shoes they pick, color of the shoe laces, how he or she styles their hair, what accessories they add, jacket they wear or socks; there are many ways. Uniforms are still versatile where they will not be breaking the dress code policy the school has set. Just because a student can’t wear the most latest Polo ,Lacrosse , or Hollister shirt or jeans to school doesn’t mean that his/her rights are taken away. School should be a place where Children come to learn, not to scope out the latest fashion trend. Outside of school, kids can wear and show off their unique sense of style.
Kids don’t like uniforms here are some reasons why...They want there own fashion statement. And they should be able to choose their own cloths. They should be able to make their own decision on how they
Kids should be able to express themselves but school uniforms takes away their self expression and creativity. Some middle school kids express themselves through their clothing and if they have school uniforms that takes away
People always say be yourself, can't do that with uniforms. Schools should not have school uniforms because kids are being branded, and it takes away individuality. Kids are being forced to wear uncomfortable clothes because of principals feel. That kids should have to wear uniforms because they are worried kids are going to make fun of each other private schools that have uniforms usually cover up bullying. So do you think school uniforms are worth it.School uniforms strips away individuality and people can't be themselves, and wearing clothes that you like is certainly freedom of expression. So schools do not have the right to take away a right given to you.
Let’s start with the cons first. The reasons why I feel that uniforms are not good is because students should be able to promote individuality instead of conformity. Having everyone wear the exact same thing eliminates one way students express themselves. If everyone is wearing the same thing, you will not be able to stand out. An additional reason why I feel this way is because school uniforms are often unflattering, and it can damage a student’s self-image. Due to this, it can cause one to suffer from low self-esteem. At Leflore High School, uniforms divides groups which is enough to develop fights between the grade levels, which consequently results into a rivalry. For example, freshman’s wear white shirts while juniors and seniors wear orange and green shirts. Freshman’s usually get picked on more often and become targets because of this. Now to the pros. Uniforms save a lot of money. Parents don’t have to worry about buying the latest fashion pieces and don’t have to worry about their child being an outcast. School uniforms spare kids and their parents of the time-consuming, troublesome ordeal of picking out a set of clothes every day. During the rushed morning hours before school, picking out the right set of clothes, especially for girls, can take up a lot of time. Many kids would be happy to be rid of the hassle, and they can save their clothing for outings and
“I dress myself, not to impress, but for comfort and style.” School boards keep adding more rules to their dress code every year to make it even more strict and harder to follow. Dress code shouldn’t be so harsh. Students are required to follow dress code and lose their comfort, because they can’t wear tanks and short shorts. When they wear those items, teacher's get upset and send them home or force them to wear something they really hate. Dress code shouldn’t be strict, because it doesn’t give students the right to dress freely.
The first major reason for not wearing school uniforms is, it forces a student to conceal his or her individuality. To many people, it appears that the school system is trying to strip away this individuality on purpose, but now is the time that the school should be embracing it and helping the student become the person they are meant to become. “According to opponents of uniforms, even preschoolers should have input into their wardrobe, and the need to encourage personality, confidence, and independence grows more important as the student becomes older” (Chen). Because of this lack of self-expression, students feel their first amendment is being violated and most people would agree, which causes the school to look bad. Another way of looking at it is they are forcing students to become on mold, or one certain way of being. However, the problem with making them one is, no matter how they look they will still have their own individual personality traits that will come out in the end. If forced to wear the uniforms, many students would express these traits by adding things to their uniform such as brightly colored gems for girls and different
Education is an essential need for living in today’s society. A school is an organization where students are provided information and skill that will be useful in their future. Picking the best school for them is crucial. One problem that people need to experience is choosing where to send their children to class; private or public. There are many differences of public and private schools such as, environment, cost, and education.
In today’s society, receiving a good education has become of the utter most importance. The real choice that is being faced now is what type of schooling program kids should be sent to. Should it be private school, with smaller class sizes or public school, where the massive attendance count tends to make kids learning last on the lists of priorities? The obvious choice should be where the kids have better opportunity to thrive, and this would be at private schools. Since there is not an over whelming amount of kids in attendance there is not only greater opportunity to learn, but the children are what comes
