Does the Problem of Evil show that God does not exist?
In this essay I intend to show that the Problem of Evil is a poor argument against the existence of God. I will argue that evil isn’t enough reason to object to the existence of God. I will look at various arguments and objections against each of the Problem of Evils’ premises. Firstly, I will argue whether it is logically possible for evil and God can co-exist. I will then discuss potential reasons of why there is so much evil in the world and why God allows this evil to exist. Finally, I will summarize all key points and show that the Problem of evil is a fragile argument.
God, according to definition is an (omnipotent) all-powerful, (omniscient) all-knowing and (omnibenevolent) all-loving creator. The Problem of Evil is one of the major arguments against the existence of such a God. It has the following structure (Chapman, 2015):
