Executive Summary
Professor Ghemawat explains the globalisation in a different view than actual. He gives the figures and percentages that show that we are living in a semi-globalised world and through these facts he proved that people do not need to fear about globalisation as the points are very low like in France immigration and Americans foreign aid federal budget. The second activity is about Holacracy and how it is different from the Bureaucracy. In Holacracy every individual has its own role and he can take any decision for the profit of business at any time as this strategy is adopted by the Zappos. This is entirely opposite from Bureaucracy which follows a hierarchy system to take decisions from employee to boss.

Has your view on globalisation changed after listening to professor Ghemawat? Explain.
Yes, my view in globalisation has changed entirely after listening to professor Ghemawat views on globalisation. Because he is offering absolutely a different picture of globalisation where he shows the percentage of the people on some aspects of the world which is very diverse from the actual data the world holds. Besides, this globalisation has a very wide scene when viewed in terms of its effect over internet. It is because; with the use of new

As per this, set of working responsibilities are refreshed consistently. Here, nobody is the boss and authority is dispersed to groups and roles where decisions are taken locally. Besides, the standards are straightforward and everybody is bound upon similar principles whether it is the CEO or another
The first topics I would like to discuss are from the first chapter. The book briefly touches on the concept of globalization as the increasing communication and interdependence of people, countries and governments around the world. I think that this ties heavily in with our current presidential election. The world always watches the American political stage but I think that this year many more people are watching their election. I also think many of these people are watching in fear that Trump will be elected. In turn as an American I watch the political stages of countries such as China, Russia and more recently Brazil. I think that this shows how as a global people we are starting to recognize the impact
Globalisation has a very long history of the social development of the world it started many years ago. It left a remarkable sign throughout the time which many people use this term of globalisation. It often
2. Are the roles of the chairperson and chief executive officer (CEO) exercised by different individuals? This clear division of responsibility would help to counterbalance the power and influence of the CEO in the decision making of the company’s directors. Furthermore, this would enhance the supporting role that may be assumed by the chairman in being the CEO’s confidante.
Apart from the company president, which is the head, the company still has a Board of Directors with the chairman of the board. And also an advisory board, elected by the workers are generally valued by the employees.
Globalisation is the interaction among people and the exchange of goods between different nations. The economies of countries grow and become interconnected (Globalisation 101, n.d.). The Criterion group had a lot of success with trade overseas. Managers need to make sure they do research of the country they wish to enter, for example, being aware of other cultures and religion, which could effect how they work. Hofstede’s 5 dimensions include Power distance, Individualism vs. Collectivism, Masculinity vs. Femininity, Uncertainty Avoidance and Long term vs. Short term. Power distance, although not a huge concern in New Zealand due to our open door policy, this is not the case in other countries such as Singapore, where lower members of society accept they will not be treated equally. Criterion put a lot of effort into making their worker feel appreciated and try to

level managers are in charge? The norms of the employees are the primary focus. But, How are
No, the philosophy and vision of the company is firm and fix with dedication towards the society and community. The company’s philosophy does not change with the changing the CEOs. This structure of the system contributes towards the single focus and point. Every CEO simply doesn’t have to mark his position differently and thus it positive impact the decision and
Globalisation is an ever growing process around the world, which has been an ever-lasting process throughout time and into the 21st century. Globalisation is described as “a process of international integration arising from the interchange of world views, products, ideas and other aspects of culture” (Al-Rodhan 2006). Throughout time, Golbalisation has impacted everyone, from the changing face of work (Occupational Psychology) through the Industrial Revolution to the more current Globalisation of hand held devices, such as mobile phones.
This follows the chain of command where the offices below respect those above them. Managers link the supervisors with the CEO because they are between the CEO and the supervisors. Managers interpret the goals/objectives from the CEO to the supervisors. Then the supervisors monitor the daily performance of subordinates. The command flows downward and the feedback goes up the chain.
‘Globalization: What’s new? What’s not? (And so what)’, portrays the speed in which globalism has increased through many different factors; economically, military, environmentally and socially. This is an idealist analytic approach, not set in stone. This leads on to
Globalisation can be defined as the movement toward economic, financial, trade, and communications integration by countries and their populations globally. It is a constant process and it has resulted in the intertwining and generalisation of the needs and wants of people
In this essay I will give a detailed explanation of what sociologists mean by the term ‘globalisation’ and how they have tried to explain it.
Yes, obviously my view on globalization has changed after listening to Professor Ghemawat. Professor Pankaj Ghemawat has gone through the entire process of globalization and set up a new idea for the interpretation of the globalization process as well. According to the newer idea and concept of Professor Ghemawat, it is not necessary at all to think over the fences of the countries’ border for the consideration of globalization. He has also opposed the flat world’s concept of Friedman and has stated that world is neither even flat, nor close to be flat (Pankaj Ghemawat, 2008). For the purpose of explanation, he had also compiled the data collected within the borders and across the borders as well. He had given the top priority to the flow of the information, the flow of people, one kind of flow of capital, and obviously the flow of products or services in the trade. It is not important to keep this flow out of the national borders for maintaining the globalization process. You can also make the running process of globalization within the national borders. Professor Ghemawat had also explained some of the related facts with the examples.
