I acquired knowledge of a contract between History Maker and our trades that states “all debris and trash left behind on the job site is required to be placed in the nearest dumpster”. Every builder meeting I have attended, the vice president of construction complains that contractors and subcontractors continue to leave all trash on the jobsite. By the contractors doing this, History Maker has written a contract that all builders are enforcing. If builders have to pick up the debris and trash themselves, the contractors will be back charged. History Maker faces risk management problems on every jobsite. The sub contractors that frame and brick houses refuse to set up the proper scaffolds, wear hard hats, and wear fall arrest harnesses. All
However, lately subcontractor has been put in the spot light because of their lack of responsibility.
Neglecting construction regulations could risk losing a project, so adherence must be strict and the environment monitored for changes. Clients ultimately determine response to advocacy groups in their design choices, however advocacy can play a role in changing practices such as waste treatment. Clients may also be planning projects in the future. Regular inquiries may present opportunities, which are more likely to be offered when a client is left with a positive impression.
Yes, Cuesport should pay Critical Development, because they made a unilateral mistake, by failing to obtain a county permit. However, the mistake does not provide the construction company no legal ground to be reprieved from the contract.
As is all too often the case, a payment dispute accompanied the conclusion of this substantial construction project. In early 2007, Metropolitan refused to pay WCS several million dollars due for the labor and materials furnished to the project. (E. 917). As such, WCS filed a complaint to establish a mechanic’s lien. (Id.). In consideration for WCS’s release of
History is forever being made, and although names are added to history the scenarios stay the same. A very prevalent issue in America at the moment is the #BlackLivesMatter movement. This movement was started in 2012 after the murder of Trayvon Martin by neighborhood watch leader George Zimmerman. Zimmerman was later acquitted for the murder, a decision that is becoming all too common for law enforcement who have injured or killed black men (Black Lives Matter). Although the issues that are faced today are slightly different, they are faced because of the same core problem. Throughout the course of history African Americans had to fight for the end of slavery, the ending of segregation in the south, the right to vote, and now they are fighting to end mass incarceration and the wrongful murder of African Americans by the police department.
As the Director of Long Island and Cypress Hills National Cemeteries, I prepare, justify, and administer a combined operating of $9,259,500.00. Planning and evaluating contracting and procurements can be difficult if not coordinated and monitored correctly. LINC is currently under a large renovation period there are 12 multi-year contracts being managed valued at over $25 million. I oversee three National Shrine Concrete Beam System contracts. The first at Cypress Hills National Cemetery valued at $6,324,083.66, a second contract at Long Island National Cemetery valued at $3,686,856.50 and a third valued at $3,382,940. In addition to these Raise and Realign Millennium contracts valued at $13.3 million, I manage several internal maintenance contracts. The grave repair and fine-tune alignment contracts valued at $715,700.00. LINC’s mowing contract valued at $810,152.00, a mowing contract at Cypress Hills valued at $1,001,355.60, Headstone Setting and cleaning contract valued at $339,815.00, and a trimming contract for Cypress Hills and Long Island valued at $35,661.00. I maintain oversight and manage these contracts through my staff; I have five staff members that are Contracting Officer Representatives (COR). Though they are managing each contract, I conduct contract review and inspections on a weekly basis. To accomplish this I require each COR to complete and forward to me a weekly observation sheet. This sheet tracks all actions related to each contract on a weekly basis to ensure any errors by the contractors are documents and retained. I personally manage two of the larger contracts to provide my employees with a positive example of how to manage contracts. Managing a large number of contracts has provided me with the
Although, some may say it is the construction companies fault and they should take the blame. This makes sense because right now the construction company is in control and should be held accountable for their actions.
This case highlights the likelihood of friendly relations between industry and government. It was recorded that Ford Motor Company dumped paint waste from 1967-1971. I find it hard to believe that not a single government official considered looking into where all of the company’s waste was being disposed of within that four-year period. It also took the federal government until the 1980s to list this area of Ringwood, New Jersey as one of the most toxic superfund sites. While I do understand that historically the United States has had strong ties between industry and government I find it appalling that both federal and state governments failed to advocate for the Ramapoughs.
This weekend the contractor had so many pieces to lift that they ended up working 2 hours overtime which wasn't authorized.
Also, the units are responsible for the cleaning of their re-mote site feeding containers. You cannot us the contract's workers to clean re-mote site containers unless it is approved by the COR (Mr. Jackson)
“New world history emerged at a time of dramatic expansion in the thematic scope of historical analysis” There are many forms of looking at history, the most prominent being Eurocentric and nation-state perspectives. However from the 20th to the 21st century up to date, historians have begun straying away from these view points and gravitating towards the world history perspective. Here I will briefly look at the pros, cons and implementation of the world history view point using the example of the end of slavery in Africa. World history helped steer away from viewing Africa as a receiving force but rather as a contributing force.
First, the ethical dilemma itself will be outlined. In the construction industry, it is often necessary for an owner or a construction company to enlist the help of other smaller or more specialized companies in the completion of a project. This practice is known as contracting. When an owner or company, referred to as the contractor, wants to contract out for a job, they will list the job and interested companies will bid for the contract. When arriving at a bid amount, interested companies will estimate

Many times, risks faced by contractors exist at no fault of their own. That is, in some cases the contractor is bound by a design that places specific hazards on the construction site. Designers who are cognizant of and responsive to their effort on construction safety would aid in making jobsites safer for construction workers (Gambatese et al, 1997). Situations such as these led the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health to create a safe design concept, prevention through design. Prevention
When it is time to do some form of construction it is not an easy process. Many people want to do construction on various parts of their homes. Sometimes a family has decided it is time to remodel their kitchen and sometimes people figure out that their bathroom is way too small and it is time for it to be updated. Unfortunately a few people try to do the updates themselves and somewhere along doing the project they realize that maybe they should have contacted some construction companies a long time ago. If someone wants for the update to their home then it is best that they contact some professional construction companies to do the work. This way they can completely forget about the project and it will take a great deal of stress off
