Introduction
This paper will take a neutral stance and discuss what is now called the Fourth Industrial Revolution, which is the integration of automation and artificial intelligence (A.I) to the workforce. The paper will weigh both the pros and cons of past, current and perhaps future implications of integrating automation into the workforce. The paper will also discuss how past instance of automation and the ethical dilemma that was faced at the time-- and whether it is still relevant or not relevant to modern times. A past example is in the clothing manufacturing industry of the Industrial Revolution. As machines was invented, the different processes in weaving started to be automated and mechanized, thus normal workers was worried over their jobs being replaced by these machines.
But Boston University economist James Bessen the very nature of machinery will not cause that to happen. In the weaving industry, the normal workers responsibilities shifted from actual weaving towards operating and making sure the machines run smoothly, this in turn dropped labor cost by 98% and massively grew the amount of output produced which in turn made clothing much cheaper increasing the demand for it.
