I wish to gain experience in and potentially pursue Bioengineering because it incorporates a multitude of my interests. As two of my strongest areas, math and biology, are tied together, they touch on my ultimate passion: helping others. For example, this collegiate path could lead to me aiding in the developments of prosthetics. Therefore, I’d help improve the lives of my patients by working with them directly and assisting them as they progress. Despite how extremely challenging this field is, I’m a diligent student who loves to learn and better myself academically, making this path potentially suit my character well.
After taking two years of calculus and traveling to Tanzania with globalbike to deliver bikes to women in rural villages, I have realized how much I love math and how much I would love to utilize my math and science skills to aid third world countries. I have recently been struggling to find a job/major that incorporates aspects of both engineering and medicine on a global level. Until I discovered the Perry Initiative I did not think this was possible. A Job in orthopedics appears to fit my interests perfectly. I would like to attend the Perry Outreach Program to learn more about orthopedics and the influence it has on society; the hands on activities this program provides would be exceptionally beneficial in presenting me with an overview of orthopedics and bio-mechanical engineering. I believe that there is no better way to learn about my interests than participating in hands-on experiments, which is exactly what the Perry Outreach Program provides. Even though this program is only one day, it would provide me with the same opportunity I was given this summer—further assisting me in finding the career path that best fits my many
As the coming years approach, I want my future to hold both the passion to explore new opportunities and the strength to overcome new challenges. With the experiences of my high school career, I aspire to take all the things I learned to transition into a college environment where my ideas can be challenged and shared. Where I can learn from others; where I can seek the opportunity to make a direct impact towards saving lives. I believe I can do great things. Through tenacity I will not only be gratified in becoming a doctor, but also be able to share my compassion for others through
Pursuing something new is fun and exciting, especially if the pursuit positively impacts someone else. I am grateful for the opportunity to re-enter grad school, this time at the doctorate level, to realize a dream that I’ve had since the
For as long as I can remember, I have always been interested in pursuing a career in the medical field. These interests were most likely brought to life from my desire to want to help people and learn more about the human body. The experiences I’ve had throughout my life have brought me closer to the belief that I can one day make a difference in the world through medicine. All though I am not completely decided on what I would like my future career to be, I have been able to narrow my options down to a few of the many choices available.
I’ve always enjoyed helping people achieve their own goals while I am on the path for my own. I believe I can help others reach their potential by being a valuable tool for their success. If given the chance to work with future freshman in a Living Learning Community, I could use what I have learned during my unique experience as a member of The World of Global Medicine and Human Rights and apply it to the freshman I would have to give them the best UAlbany experience possible.
My mother purchased a saddle for me before I was born. She knew I would be a cowgirl who loved horses, like herself. But what she did not know is that my love of horses would develop into something much greater. My past, present, and future endeavors have all been in pursuance of my goal: to be an equine veterinarian.
PURPOSE STATEMENT: I want to bring awareness to this interesting career and hopefully inform more people about its potential outcomes.
I began this academic journey at the start of the semester with the intention of finishing a bachelor’s degree and knocking out pre-requisite courses for veterinary school. The online program for a Bachelors in Health Sciences with the veterinary biomedical classes as an elective component seemed like a good fit. At the same time, I began to feel that I would like to make a difference in the lives of people that need it the most. While my priority is to finish a bachelor’s and I am still considering veterinary medicine, I am intrigued with the possibility of becoming a physician assistant and in working with penurious people as well as participating in medical missions.
I know I can be a great assistant, but that is not what I want for myself, I want to be a Speech Pathologist working in a hospital and helping people with traumatic brain injuries. This is a long-term goal that I’m willing to spend years reaching, because if given the opportunity to work with this population, I will get to blend not only my general knowledge, but also my love of science and desire to help others. I have had no experience with disabled people, and being in this undergrad program is my first- hand look at seeing what it’s like for those with disabilities to struggle daily and have frustrations I can’t even begin to imagine. This genuinely gives me a whole-hearted desire to help others and give them the assistance they need to live like everyone else, something I never truly had a passion for until
My larger vision is becoming a biomedical engineer. What interests me most about the field is the intricate combination of two seemingly opposite characteristics. Engineers are sometimes seen as people who are on an elevated level of intelligence, but a below average sense of interpersonality. As a Biomedical Engineer, you are required to interact closely with patient. It’s impossible to complete a job without getting to know a patient. You have to identify their ailment or whatever else may be troubling them, and incorporate different levels of math, science, and technology to resolve the issue at
Once I obtain a higher education during my college studies, I will be bound with responsibilities. I must use my newfound knowledge to my full potential by applying it to my life and those who are surrounding me. I will pursue my duty to society by giving back to my community and those in need because I am apparent of the struggles in a rural area. I am attending the University of Arkansas and majoring in Biology. Once I complete my courses and graduate I will apply for medical school at UAMS in Little Rock, Arkansas then continue my studies to specialize in oncology.
I know, however, that this challenging academic demand will only develop my work ethic and immensely enhance my intellectual growth. Staying focused to my intellect will help me stay organized and prepared for any challenges I may face in both my college life and life beyond college.
Anyone who knows me, knows in so few words that I could best be described as a complex or better yet, imaginative person. I am a person that is easily fascinated by all things thrilling and prove to be challenging. Growing up, I was raised with the mentality that anything you think, work hard for, and plan for, you become. So inevitably, when I got informed about this assignment, I went big with my top five career choices and pushed the desires of my heart outside of my comfort zone. In today’s society, the occupational field is getting more and more competitive because of the high demand for well-qualified and rounded individuals. Education doesn’t stop after high school because after graduation no one will babysit your choices and tell you
My interest started in elementary school, because of the teachers who enhanced my passion for science. In elementary school, I never thought about turning my passion into an actual career; that didn’t happen until high school. Science always intrigued me, from the never-ending science fair projects to research projects. Georgetown University’s Masters’ program in Biotechnology/ BioScience will continue to enhance my passion for science, but will also enhance my other passion in health related professions. Throughout my life, I loved science and health, but more so, the satisfaction of putting someone’s well being before my own.
