Racism
Hatred, skin color, and judging are all parts of racism. These are apart of America’s problem today. One reason is there are still some hatred towards immigrants coming into the United States. Second there are still people in the United States of America who are biased against colored people. Lastly there are people who judge other people by the way they look. There are so many situations now in America that involves racism; it’s ridiculous. That seems to be a main topic in the U.S. Racism is a problem in America that needs to be fixed.
There is still some hatred towards immigrants coming into the United States. The reason is that there have been a lot of immigrants coming into this country. They are coming into this country and taking numerous jobs. The problem that America has they don 't like the fact that people who were not born in this country taking their jobs. First of all, the reason immigrants are taking those jobs is because Americans don 't like hard labor. Immigrants are willing to take these jobs and be happy of what they can afford. Another reason why this country has hatred towards other race, because some people think that immigrants are the reason why the economy is down. Yes immigrants are taking our jobs, but the jobs the Americans are not willing to take. We have been having problems with the economy for many years, and immigrants are not the people responsible for it.
Secondly, there are still
Racism throughout time has had a powerful negative force in society. There have been many efforts made to relieve racism. Racism is still present in America, although many people are doing their best to put a stop to racism and its somewhat devastating effects on young black males in society. “You never really understand a person until you consider things from his point of view... Until you climb inside of his skin and walk around in it.” (Lee) The negative stereotypes and racial profiling that Americans hand down from generation to generation are damaging not only to the minorities but to those perpetuating them as well. The behaviors that are kept alive because of these negative stereotypes and the behaviors associated with them, create an emotional and social struggle as well as presenting obstacles when receiving an education and employment opportunities.
Throughout history in America there has always been the idea of racism. When Americans think of racism, they usually think of slavery and that racism is no longer a problem in America. However, this is not the case. Racism is still very apparent in America. It is true that since the end of slavery, the U.S. has made great strides towards becoming a less racist country. In reality, racism will never be extinct. In today’s society, all American citizens of all races have the same rights as one another, yet there is still racism. Racism can be linked directly to stereotypical mindsets of certain groups of people. It is human nature to make conclusions about other people, this is what leads to racism. Today’s racism is not limited to whites
Racism is the belief that characteristics and abilities can be attributed to people simply based on their race and that some racial groups are superior to others. This has been a problem in our world forever. In to Kill a Mockingbird there are so many racist events and it reflects on the society as a whole till this day. The book setting was the 1930’s in a small county of Maycomb, where most people were racist and discriminatory. People think racism has died off, but it is still a huge problem. People choose to raise their children and teach them that racism is okay and that is how there is still racism today. There are so many statistics out there based on skin color that right there is even racist if everyone is equal why are there polls being taken separating people by the color of their skin?
Racism has been a big problem in the U.S. for all races for a very long time and continues to be a problem to this day. Racism has been a big part in U.S. history and has changed over time, some of these races were African Americans, American Indians, and Mexican Americans, for American Indians it was how they were treated wrong socially and economically.
Racism isn’t hating someone because of their race. Prejudice is not a misconception of who a person is. Racism is being prejudiced because a person believes their race is superior; and, prejudice is a preconceived opinion not based on any prior experience. In other words, racism is when a person has a preconceived opinion about another person because they feel their race is superior. Racism and prejudice are probably two of the most talked about and controversial words 60 years ago and still today. When Rosa Parks refused to give up her seat and Martin L. King marched on Selma they didn’t think we would still be in such a place today; we are in a place where people are not allowed to be themselves without facing judgment. This is the same prejudice and racism members of society face in schools, by students and educators which limits their ability to progress in a world full of competition and rise above what demographics say they are destined to become. As the great Charles Albert Tindley once said, “We Shall Overcome!”
Racism has been a part of our country since the early ages. Historically, racism and equality have been central issues that have divided our country. Many actions from the past such as the decision in the Plessy versus Ferguson case, and present day actions like The Mississippi school system case have been the ongoing battle in today 's society. The struggle to achieve equality was made even more difficult by the legislation that is now considered racist in the Plessy versus Ferguson case.
Racism has always been a big factor in the United States, less so in the 21st century but ever so present. This issue resulted in the longest and biggest human massacre in history, followed by decades of discrimination and horrific acts of abuse that are a reality until this day.
America’s foundation in a sense was founded on racism. Although we live in a much more different, accepting time, it wasn’t too long ago that there was segregation and extreme racism in our society. We as a society have now since evolved and are now more tolerable and diverse then what we once were. However, there still are cases in America that show just how far we still need to develop our tolerance.
Many Americans say racism is a big problem, according to CNN. Racism is one of the World’s biggest issues today. There are a number of people who are racists and spreading racism around the world. There are also many people who are actually facing racism in this world. Racism is bad as it was before and it is still here in many people. Definitely, no one born racist, but his/her surroundings or cultures or environment make them racist person. There are plenty of people in America who are facing racism. While racism still a big problem in the United States, it can be decreased or reduced by making changes in the community, supporting or attending different cultures and learning about cultures.
Racism can be “defined as the hatred of one person by another or the belief that another person is less than human because of skin color, language, customs, place of birth or any factor that supposedly reveals the basic nature of that person. It has influenced wars, slavery, the formation of nations, and legal codes” (“What”). The face of racism over the past 50 years has changed but yet, some still stay the same. People made laws against racism and it is not as blunt anymore. But opinions and stereotypes will remain which will cause others to still be treated differently.
Racism is a huge problem, especially here in the United States. The United States has come a long was, but there is no doubt that there is much more progress to be made. People seem to follow the patterns of others and fall in to the same issues. It is important that the cycle breaks and individual learn to be independent and speak their own minds instead of following the thoughts and beliefs of others. Until the chains are broken and people fall out of this endless loop, racism will continue to be a major issue.
Racism has been a constant dilemma in our nation for centuries. No matter how hard someone attempts to ignore that it exists, racism is still prominent in today’s day and age. Although race has been discredited by many, it is still conspicuous in our country. We may not own slaves or have segregated bathrooms anymore, but racism continues to exist.
Racism in this country has been prevalent over centuries now, and still a huge hindrance in the United States of America. Racism has a huge history with scholars documenting the long illustrious reasons and root causes as to why this has become such a major topic of issue in the United States and its psychological and social obliterations in the society.
Racism is an age-old issue that was named during the Civil War, fought during the 1960s, and is still lingering in modern society.
Race is a subject that dominates our culture, our history, our elections and our lives. Without it life would never be the same. Although some believe that racism (to an extent) doesn't exist anymore. However, they are wrong. The same racism that is shown through Karl Linder and George Murchison in A Raisin in the Sun- is still shown today- in our world in things such as: the travel ban/Muslim ban, and behind the scenes in soccer.
