Depression is a common disease that has plagued people for as long as there have been people. So many people suffer from it today although not nearly enough of them seek help for dealing with it. Depression is a serious disease that affects the mind yet so many people make it out to be less than it is. In this paper i am going to go over with you the signs of Depression, the way it affects those inflicted and if there is a cure or how it can be treated. one of the most common types of depression is Manic depressive disorder, this type of depression tends to heighten your feelings and make you more sensitive. Recurrent mild depression (Dysthymia) is a persistent mild long term form of depression that will affect you for most of your life. Major depression which is a severe form of depression that is accompanied by low self esteem that will affect you for the rest of your adult life. Postpartum depression can affect new mothers due to changing hormones and the sudden changes motherhood can bring. My moods rise and fall constantly for the smallest reason and sometimes for no apparent reason at all. I suffer from extreme self loathing and i am a recovering cutter. I tried to kill myself three times and I have been clean (from cutting) for three months. Therapy and medications have never really worked for me, the medications only made it worse and for the most part doctors are easily fooled into believe that their patient is recovering. I had to learn how to deal with my bouts of depression on my own with some help from my friends. Having a good support system is an essential part of dealing with depression without it dealing with it is next to impossible. I constantly talk to my friends and family about what I am going through and while it helps the real power to my recovery journey is within me. I am the key to my own strength and my own happiness and one day I will learn to love
