My group’s presentation was on ‘ Nutrition’ which focused on Maori adolescent aged 10-12. It was structured into four sections. We used powerpoint slides alongside clear explanation for each section. In order to capture audience’s attention, we avoided adding too many texts on the slides and used pictures, tables or quotes instead. In the final section we tried to engage the audience by showing a video rather than constant verbal explanation.
I felt really anxious during my presentation. I couldn't control my hands and legs shaking when I stood at the front of the classroom and faced around 70 students. In order to cover up my anxiety and deliver a good presentation, I tried to calm down and imagined that no audience in the classroom.

Regarding to the speech delivery rate, my lecturer and 4 class members all pointed that my speech was too quick which I should pay highly attention to. I was too anxious and not confident enough during my presentation which leaded to a poor circulation that I tended to finish my speech as soon as possible. Too fast speech disclose a person’s nervousness and a lack of control, which will influence audiences to receive messages and understand it. Aryadoust (2015) identified that maintaining a suitable speech delivery rate is a key factor that can affect speech intelligibility. A study also showed that presenters’ lack of this skill leads to listeners’ confusion and misinterpretation of verbal input (Aryadoust, 2015).
Completing this group presentation has taught me how to deliver an effective communication. The most important thing I have learned was the way I present rather than information itself. I will not realize this problem if without this experience. The feedback given by lecturer and class member has helped me a lot in recognising my strength and weakness. Being a good presenter requires that I prepare well before each speech and practice speaking in front of a mirror as often as possible, especially practice to present in proper tone and speed. There are a range of videos from YouTube that I now think I ought to look at to observe how people give an effective presentation especially to notify
There is no question that after giving about four speeches, I have become a much better overall public speaker. In the beginning of the semester, I would tend to get nervous during some of my speeches and consequently the delivery of my speech would be greatly affected. If I had made a mistake, my level of nervousness would drastically increase and I wouldn’t know how to correct it. Although today I have improved on these aspects. Normally in order to control my nerves I try to think as positively as possible. This is critical because when I start to think even a little bit negatively then I severely hurt my chances of giving a good speech. Instead today, my main priority is to stay very confident and tell myself that I’m going to perform fine.
I hope to control my anxiety while speaking in front of a group, since there might be a situation in my field that requires me to inform others of daily logs or protocols. It would be fulfilling to get others passionate about a subject that I favor and means a lot to me, as well as presentations are an expected process in future classes and need to be mastered.
Provide students with information on different presentation skills needed for their final presentation. How to conduct a Power Point presentation and a poster, including visuals and different sounds, the importance of speaking clearly and loudly, the importance of correct spelling and grammar and use of appropriate language relating to the topic is discussed.
Anxiety is one of the most common illnesses in America. Your palms can get sweaty, you get nervous and your blood pressure can increase. Some students can go through anxiety every day just by having to go to school or present in class like I am now. I am presenting a speech in front of a decent size class some of who I am familiar with and some of you who I barely know so that can be a bit scary and nerve racking.
While a good presentation can deliver the insights of a topic and allows the audience to clearly understand a textual topic in a visual and more memorable way, a bad presentation can also make the audience more confused for even the things that they already know. Unlike how most people think, presentation is not all about the quality of the contents of the presentation but it greatly depends on aspects such as presenter’s confidence, quality of slides, and speaker’s methods and preparation for that particular topic. The most complicated and boring topics can seem so interesting by the audience,
- What I did well during my speech was looking at my audience. I was always facing my audience and have a quick view to my PowerPoint. I believe I did well on these aspects because I wasn’t like the other students always looking at the PowerPoint and not even facing the audience. I know this is a public speaking class and the point is to talk to our audience while facing them.
Comment on the following points: presentation introduction, presentation closure, speaker knowledge about information, main points clear to audience, etc.
I ensured whilst I made my presentation that I spoke clearly and steadily. I have a tendency to talk quickly so I paid particular attention to controlling the speed of my voice. I also ensured I maintained eye contact with my audience and tried not to focus just on one individual.
Let me start by saying I was nervous, which in itself caught me by surprise. I consider myself a fairly confident person; I’ve always experienced butterflies prior to any public presentation but this was more than that. The nervousness led to other issues such as the vocal characteristics of my presentation. For instance, I stumbled on my words during the introduction, tongue-tied as it were. I saw the words in front of me but couldn’t seem to verbalize them. I stopped, re-grouped and moved forward. I continued with a number of vocalized pauses which prove not only
message across to an audience or a group of people. If you speed through a speech and

Welcome to Focus, we are an organization that functions through a unique structure, with elements borrowed from several approaches and theories studied throughout the course of our year. Focus’s structure most closely models the systems approach. In addition to functioning like a human body, Focus has borrowed elements from the classical approach through ordered structuring of department levels, the family metaphor and human resources encapsulates our employees, and cognitive strategies to influence our decision making. Like a human body we need to operate at full capacity and so our group has added the best prescribed medicines, practices, to ensure that Focus efficiently functions internally between departments and employees as well as
We mainly did so by first discussing what we were each going to be discussing in our segment of the presentation and made sure that each of our segments directly related to the topic. After our discussion we began to formulate slides for each of our segments taking information and research from our papers and putting it into a bulleted form that would be easy to read on each slide. We also made sure to include images to keep our presentation interesting and captivating while also getting our point across. After we had finished our presentation and were satisfied with the information we checked it over for formatting mistakes as well as grammatical errors. Then on the morning before our presentation we ran through our presentation multiple times sorting out and issues that could make the presentation seem poor. We then delivered our presentation and completed the entirety Task
Our presentation slides focuses more on pictures, charts and key-points for visual aid. By keeping the slides simple, audiences can focus more on the speaker. The videos uploaded by the Centre for English Language Communication department tell us our weaknesses which we do not realize by ourselves. Reflecting on my first and second presentation through videos and feedbacks from Ms. Christine has helped me
Do you think you cannot give hundred percent when you are presenting something? If you have this kind of thinking, have you ever tried to make it better? Sometimes I really think that we always want to give the best while presenting my speech or talk. So I just wonder on how I can improve my present? I believe that not all of you can stand in front and talk with the high level of confidence. Speech is the one of the type of oral communication. What is oral communication? Oral communication implies communication through mouth. It is a vital part of life in relationship, education, and careers. It includes individuals conversing with each other, be it direct conversation or telephonic conversation. Speeches, presentations, discussions are
