In order to analyze and understand the writing process, there are three main areas of consideration to provide an effective and understanding essay. The essay must be able to provide a clearly concentrated thesis that allows the audience to understand the point the writer is trying to make. The body of the essay must be able to provide extensive information and experience on the topic outlined in the thesis. The final process to tie the essay together must include the conclusion that overviews the thesis in conjunction with the information provided in the body of the essay. While reviewing and revising my three essays, I based my decision of choosing the three that did not have the previously mentioned categories fully developed. I started by reviewing the notes provided by my professor to assist in further developing the overall idea and body of the essay. In my essay for Higher Education for Servicemembers, my thesis did not have a clear understanding that connected with the body of the essay. For most of this piece, the discussion lead to information about achieving higher education for servicemembers through online education. I provided information based upon my ongoing personal experience with the pros and cons of earning a degree, but I had misguiding evidence with other online students. I had to create a more centralized thesis to base the theme on what the more specific struggles and benefits to higher education for military servicemembers was rather than online
English Composition I has developed my style of writing and my skills analyzing and researching topics to write a piece about a topic. Throughout the course, I got better at analyzing articles and pieces to get the meaning of the topic. With that improved skill I was more able to use the information given from the text and install it into my essays, with proper citation if needed. Before taking the English Composition course, I was not one to organize my essays in an ordeal order to clearly state the point of the work. Now with taking the course, I have learned to organize my essays, examine research for a topic, and develop an essay with proper mechanics, and revising skills. In writing my personal, review, analytical, and cultural
Personally, from the class of English 1101, I have learned on how to use the writing processes effectively, where the first step is to have a pre-write, which focuses on brainstorming ideas form either the group or from individuals’ brain for the required topic. The second phase of the process is the thesis statement, which is the primary idea of the entire essay. I discovered that the thesis statement should be persuasive and truthful. The third step is on developing drafts, where it showed me on how to focus on content, organization, and style. Again, I noted that I must ask myself who is my audience, and what do they want or need to hear.
If I look back at the very beginning of this class and compare my writing skills from back, then to the sets of skills I have developed after taking this course I can easily feel I have improved a lot as writer. I went from being a writer who is not so confident in writing skills to someone who could pre-plan his paper before starting the paper after critically analyzing the text materials. The X-men Text we studied as text material throughout the course symbolized the identity issues of our society.
Writing an essay has always been a difficult and tedious task in my opinion. The writing process I followed when creating the original assignment consisted of research, a rough draft, a small amount of editing, and a final draft. Researching the topic was the first step I took in writing my paper. I searched for credible and useful information that would have a positive effect on my essay. After gathering my information, I worked to create an outline that would assist in the organization and structure of my essay. I then used my outline to begin a rough draft by inserting research, as well as my own thoughts and ideas. After editing and revising my essay, I ended with a final draft. The editing done to the paper was basic and done solely by myself. I did not use any resources such as the writing center. Along with this, peer reviews were not helpful as my group did not strive to make any meaningful corrections or provide any constructive criticism. Because I had little corrections the amount of editing or revising done was limited. Throughout the duration of this class, the process in which I write an essay has changed.
Throughout this class, I have learned many things and I have also improved. This quarter, my writing has developed a lot, on my papers I have wrote I usually can't write a paper then and there, but on the literacy walk in essay I got a good score which I was proud of since that’s the first time I had done that. Usually, I don’t get very good scores, but I have learned a lot and how to write a good paper which led to me getting a good score. Another way in which I have improved in writing is how to use less fragments and also do less run-on sentences. Before this class I would do a lot of run-on sentences and many fragments. I have learned how to use better word choice and better sentence structuring.
My day one writing process wasn't much of an effective process, it was mainly just meeting page requirements by adding a ton of filler information. this was not a good process because it takes away from the purpose of the paper and makes it a lot more difficult to capture the readers attention. taking this six week course has improved my writing process.

The foundation of your essay relies on a strong thesis statement, but what exactly is a thesis and how do you develop it? Creating a good thesis is vital when it comes to writing a skilled essay. If your thesis is not effective, then your whole essay is weak. Also, this chapter emphasizes how crucial it is to support your thesis with reliable and factual sources.
When I first started elementary school I was horrible at writing and speaking English, despite English being my first and only fluent language. I started every sentence with "also" and I could hardly say my name. I generally looked at my mom to say pronounce it for me. To be fair, though, Xzavior is a hard name for someone in Kindergarten to pronounce. I was so bad that the school had to put me in an extra English class, so that I did not fall too far behind. Sadly, I did not improve quickly and created a horrible(and hilarious) sentence stating my improvement by first grade (figure 3). Luckily, by fourth grade I had improved enough to only take the required English course for my grade. However, "artistic" writing has never been my forte
In academic writing, the main purpose of the essay is to demonstrate to the audience a thorough understanding of the topic discussed and substantiate the thesis using academic evidence. Sometimes. both primary and secondary sources are needed to acquire the information crucial for the essay. More time is needed to develop these complex concepts and supporting data. An academic essay follows a structure that consists of an introduction with a thesis, a body that supports that thesis, and a conclusion. The author may use intricate sentences and lengthy paragraphs to develop the sophistication of their ideas.
Unquestionably, it is crazy to see my journey end with an overview of all the new strategies I learned about. This mini course has truly changed my perspective on how writing should be viewed at instead of just writing paragraphs upon paragraphs. Starting this course, I didn’t expect to learn so much about how to write, what to look for, and also the different strategies for reading and writing that could help benefit me in college. I thought this course was going to be the hardest online course, but I soon found out that it’s just preparing me for college and recreating ways for me to understand what college has in stored for me.
While writing this three essays I analyzed and I tried to critically think about what I was writing. I always asked myself if my opinions and convictions were affecting the information I was transmitting to my readers. To write the first essay I tried to find the articles with the most current information but that they would differ between them in order for me to recognize which was the strongest and more persuasive article. Also, the first draft of my essay number one wasn't specific enough and it need it some clarification in the transitions from one idea to the other. Also, my first draft had several grammar mistakes and need it to be more coherent. Then, in the second draft I tried to fix the grammar mistakes and I used better transition words such as, furthermore and additionally, so the reader could better understand what I was trying to expressed. Next, my last draft for essay one was a lot clearer and more specific and concise then the first one. The first draft of my second essay was better than that of my first essay but it still grammar mistakes were plentiful; so I tried fixing those on my second draft as well as I improved some sentences so they could be more coherent and clearer. The first draft of my third essay had several grammar mistakes which I tried to fix in the second draft as well as improve some of the sentences so they could be more concise and easier to understand. Overall, my
Throughout the past semester, as a writer, I have experienced an immense amount of development. The knowledge I have received through attending this English class has had an eminently positive affect on my writing capabilities, styles, and comforts. During the duration of the class I have been constantly urged to journey outside of my traditional comfort zone to elaborate and write about several topics that have affected and diversified my ability as a writer. In addition, I have learned many different styles of writing, new to me before the class and have attempted to write various new forms of essays. Through learning and attempting all of the new writing styles and techniques, my writing has positively grown amidst the duration of the semester. The constant practice in and outside the classroom continually matured and refined my writing proficiency and capabilities. The development and advancement of my writing ability is displayed in my works through the processes of prewriting preparation, writing development, and revision and editing.
An element that I learned which was important to an essay was the thesis statement. Over the course of the semester, I wrote various types of essays which the thesis is the main important sentence of the essay. I learned that there was more into the thesis. It grabs the reader’s attention to grasp the idea of what the essay is about and its tone. The process of constructing a solid thesis to complement the essay was a challenge to me. For example, in writing project two, for the rhetorical analysis, I could not create a thesis to grab the reader’s attention about the comparison two articles. This writing was a comparison between the two articles with the strategies that the author uses to connect with
This semester has taught me a lot in writing. From being in high school last year I have seen a whole lot of new expectations and standards that should come out your writing as well as the way you should set up essays. One of the things that scared me throughout this writing process was trying to exceed the length of an essay because I wasn’t really used to writing more than at least 4 pages. In my high school English class we never really had an essay that was as long as 5 pages. Thankfully outlines which were given in this class helped so much in what I needed to explain and what points I had to make when writing an essay.
