A Work in Progress Entering into a Composition class has proven that I know a lot less about writing than I had originally been aware of. With being four weeks into the class, I now realize I have already learned a lot of information about grammar, sentence structuring and transitions. When my first paper came back graded and did not meet my expectations, that was when I knew I had much more effort and research to put into my writing abilities. From there, I spent a lot of time researching; revising and building paper number two. When paper number one was graded, I still found myself feeling exceptionally disappointed. I still have quite a few weaknesses when putting a paper together. I am feeling the most disappointment due to the points I missed for my use of contractions, commas and simple errors in my titling capitalization. Those are simple corrections and upon reading that paper as many times as I did, I am unsure how I missed the opportunity to correct them. I have learned how the use of contractions is …show more content…
The website www.paperrater.com was an excellent resource to use. Along with using that website, I intend to continue to go back through the pages in various chapters of our Faigley book since it has plenty of stories that are excellent examples of each type of writing. I am finding that many of the resources posted weekly on Moodle are a great help to understanding the topic of each paper and what it entails to write each paper. The presentations on transitions and commas (“Conquering the Comma”) specifically helped guide me into better format. I also really benefited from watching the video called “ Understanding Plagiarism”. I plan to be proactive in retaining what I read from those resources. The sense of accomplishment I will get once I am successfully able to construct a paper correctly will be well worth the journey of
The Norton Field Guide to Writing covers topics about writing and composing. Several of which I was already familiar with. In chapter 2, Bullock and Weinberg express how “Many readers find it helps to annotate as they read…” (16). I have become very familiar with annotating over the years. I often use this writing method to help me understand and summarize text I come across.
At first I was not sure what I should put, but then when I starting thinking about it, it came pretty easily. However I did have a difficult time thinking about what I can’t change because I try not to focus on that.

This unit does not introduce much new material. Instead, we expect you to integrate technical and theoretical knowledge acquired from study across your degree. We refer to two frameworks that may support you in carrying out this integration:
Experience is sometimes regarded as the best teacher. Many things can be learned in a classroom and by formal academic study, but many cannot. Reflective practice is a form approach to learning through experience. Reflective practice is a lifelong learning process to promote continual development of the nurse. Reflective writing practice helps the nurse to gain knowledge and to challenge their own ideas and concepts. The idea of reflective practice is not only to see what happened, but to see the situation through new eyes, eyes that can help in personal growth and to develop ways to respond differently in the future.
A person communicate different variety of ways, both verbally and non-verbally. Primates and other animals have been communicating without the use of language since long before humans invented verbal communication. Some scientists believe that even today, most communication between humans is non-verbal. Both types of communication differ significantly between genders and across cultures.
Pursuant to California Vehicle Code (40902), I plead not guilty by Trial by Written Declaration of the charges of CVC 22349 (b). I have paid the fine of $352 and have attached the receipt to the case as instructed.
When first brainstorming what topic I was going to pick for each annotated bibliography, it took me a while before I settled on a topic for each essay. While reflecting on my writing process, I came to the conclusion that more time would have definitely benefited my argument for each of these annotated bibliographies.
This essay is a reflective essay on my learning development from a young age through to my current position as a University Student. I will be relating my learning development back to two theories of human development, Vygotstsky’s socio-cultural theory and Marcia’s version of Erikson’s theory of identity development. I will identify and discuss the challenge I have faced with my identity and how this has impacted on my development.
Vital signs are a fundamental component of nursing care and indicate the body’s ability to maintain blood flow, regulate temperature and regulate oxygenate the body tissue. This is a reflective essay based on a event which took place in a hospital setting. The aim of this essay is to explore how members of the Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) worked together and communicate with each other to achieve the best patients outcome.
When doing the annotated bibliography I too came across some not so credible sources. The Shaprio library really helped me find the right kind of sources to use in my paper. I am glad you realized the value of outlining. This step in the writing process will come in handy in other courses as well. I can’t write a paper without one. Outlining is like a road map for your paper and always helps me get my paper organized and helps me see where certain information fits. Before this course, I had never done peer review before. At first, I wasn’t too thrilled about these assignments. I quickly realized the benefit in having someone else grade your work. I too have learned a lot in this class and I know this will help me in future classes.
Since beginning to write papers in English class, I have had countless successes and failures. While many of my English classes have taught me how to improve my writing, I have not learned very much in others. My most recent English class was last year, my sophomore year. My class was particularly undersized; therefore, it gave each student the opportunity to have additional individual attention. Throughout the class I experienced high points, weaknesses, and even difficulties that I never overcame. Overall, my writing skills improved, but only marginally.
During the course of the quarter, I feel that I have progressed somewhat. I've gained a lot of knowledge on rhetorical strategies and how to present arguments effectively. In the writings I have written, I feel that each writing works towards meeting the course goals. Logos, ethos, and pathos were strategies and ideas we were introduced to (if not already in the past) and were built upon throughout the quarter. The knowledge gained over the course of the quarter weren't only those three types of appeals. Rhetorical strategies like proposals helped reinforce the course and using rhetorical analysis in different situations have become easier throughout the quarter. I believe that I have made sufficient progress towards becoming a better
Over the past few months, I have learned several different writing techniques. While all of the different types of papers were difficult to write, I believe that my writing skills have improved. In fact, I did not understand all of the assignments, but I did try to do my best on all of them. While I should have used more transitional words in between sentences and paragraphs, I feel that I learned a great deal. It is true that I have not had very much writing experience and the writing process is difficult for me. Sometimes, I do admit, it takes days to complete one assignment, but it will be worth it when I am a proficient writer.
