Melissa, that's something you and I have in common and that's I cannot wait last minutes to do any writing assignment. That’s simple impossible for me do since, writing for me take up a vast majority of my time, because I want to make sure, and double check everything I can before submitting an assignment, because I'm a weak writer. The sooner I start the better for me, and my grade. We also share the same editing process. I have my peers read and give me some suggestions about my work too. I'm always open to hear their critics and suggestion on how to make my piece better. I’m hoping it will one day make me a better writer. One thing I like about your writing methods is that you have one that I might use when it comes to rough and draft
Writing is a practice that most of us were taught when we were young. We were taught the basics of grammar, how to form a sentence, conjunction words, how to write paragraphs and more. Although we have learned this skill while growing up and have used the skill every year after entering kindergarten, this does not mean our writing process will ensure the best work. The authors that I chose each encourage their audience to excel in the art of writing in their own way to help with the writing process.
Ill thinks long and hard about my opening sentence and after I’ve come up with a good one the words just come into my head and I type them. Then I reread them to make sure that they make sense. Since I’m still in high school I do think that my writing style really has room to grow as I discover myself and who I want to be. I’d say that my process could improve, there’s always someone can improve or makes themselves better. For right now I think my process works, I think it works because I’ve never received a bad grade on something I written. Sure, my drafts have always had lots of red marks but doesn’t everyone’s? Like I said you can always improve and that’s what I’d really like to do in English
Many steps of the writing process came together when I had to write a blog entry for this class about my complicated history with composing first drafts. When I first attempted to start the assignment, I planned
Upon entering English 111, I knew I would be writing papers. However, I did not anticipate how much room I had for improvement. Throughout this term I have been enlightened with so much knowledge that I may have forgotten or have been exposed to for the first time. Certainly, my experience with essay writing has been solidified due to newfound knowledge of proper work citing, MLA standards and the steps of planning an essay. Perhaps, my time away from a learning environment slowed me down a bit, other times I feel as though I have an advantage due to life experience. An online environment has certainly been challenging but throughout the course I have provided solid work and consistent grades commendable of an A grading.
My experience throughout this class as a writer has been remotely good. I have learned many new ways about how to write an essay because one of my strengths is having a strong memory of the topic and another strength I have in writing is that I am much more experienced on how to describe a subject in great detail and because of this I know what I am capable of doing. I unfortunately still have some weaknesses in writing such as, procrastinating on starting the actual working process and because of this I start to panic on not getting done in time. Over all my writing skills throughout the class has not been what I expected but I did learn more about how to properly write an essay, which will help me out more later on in my future classes.
Over the eighth grade year, I have learned to effectively use feedback and reflection skills to strengthen my writing. These writing processes taught me to include peer and teacher feedback along with self-reflection to earn a better grade on my writing pieces. In the beginning of the year, I would simply complete the drafts my teacher assigned. Proof of my original writing process is shown in the essay, titled One Necessity of a Hero: Personal Sacrifice, in which it reflects on the Thematic Unit. To demonstrate my poor writing process, a segment of my original introduction stated, “After analyzing documents from The Hobbit Thematic Unit, I discovered that the principles of heroism involve personal sacrifice. I also learned that a hero is
Throughout my academic career, I haven’t given writing much of a chance. Instead, I gravitated towards math and science subjects. I believed that writing wasn’t one of my strengths, which caused me to not enjoy past composition courses. This opinion changed during my writing process for “Strategic Devices,” my rhetorical analysis of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr’s “Letter from Birmingham Jail. As I analyzed the skillfully crafted letter, I was reminded of how powerful writing can be, and, when used for good, words can transform the situation that they are spoken into. In English 121, I have learned many new aspects of writing, grown as a writer, and developed a fresh perspective towards composition. Through this progress, I hope to become a positive impact in my sphere of influence.
After looking over my recent GRW essay and the comments made on it by professor Prud’homme, I have concluded my work could be significantly improved with further revision prior to submission. I need to be more careful when editing my writing and possibly read it backwards to make sure I'm not overlooking simple errors. Through improving my editing and reviewing process I also think it will help to identify sentences needing further clarification. By acknowledging these weaknesses in my writing process I strongly believe it will lead to improvement in my overall writing abilities on future assignments.
One individual can change the world with a well-written essay. Essays are the combination of 26 letters to make words that form sentences and then paragraphs in a structured form depending on the style of writing. I have been fascinated with writing since elementary school. Writing has been my outlet for many years and something I have enjoyed. As time progressed, lost the time to sit down and write, but during the course of ENGL 1101, I have had the time for my favorite hobby in the present. I have learned many new techniques to better my writing and became a more successful student in the course of ten weeks.
I relate to this quote by Brandon A. Trean because to me photography and writing are sort of similar. There can be a 100,000 meanings and things going on in a photo as there can be on a page. Writing and pictures capture moments and feelings that can make the person reading or looking feel as if they were at that place and feeling those emotions, that's why I enjoy writing.
All the outcomes are clear and I like how we are expected to reach them. I am a little bit scared with the grammar part and the specific skills that I should develop for this course. My writing skills are not the best’s, since English is not my first language. I love to read, and since I moved to US I started doing it in English. This is helping me to have a better understanding of the language, but I haven’t be paying attention to the writing. I hope to develop the good skills writing that are expected from me.
I believe that my writing has improve a lot, because I have learned a lot of different words unknowns by me. I have also learn new prewriting techniques which have been essential in the process of creating new and fresh ideas. In this class we developed an activity which really help me with my writing skills and my vocabulary, and it was peer review. I always have agreed with the way the peer reviewers have criticized my work, because most of the time they see something that we have miss. Most of the time, a fresh look is welcome, I always say. I have learn from my paragraphs that if I put my mind on it, I can improve my writings increasingly. We all know that improve writing is a process, but If we write carefully, and we proofread several
Before I came to college, I felt my writing had to follow a certain pattern and be fixated around one way of thinking. What I was fortunate to learn was quite the opposite. Writing does not have to follow any certain pattern, but can rather be structured through many different possibilities. I was also told in high school that my papers either had to agree or disagree with the given topic, even if I believed otherwise. This formulated a very one-track way of thinking when it came to my papers. Now I know that I can let my mind explore new and exciting ideas. I can agree, disagree, compliment, criticize, and question the author however my heart desires, as long as I have the evidence to back myself up. Many authors in the book, Writing About Writing, explain their processes as well as the processes of others when it comes to writing. As a writer, I can draw on my own processes and relate them to the authors, as well as use their ideas and apply them to myself. Through reading, I have learned new methods of invention, planning and revising, and incubation when it comes to writing. All ways I can use to create more meaningful and creative work.
Writing was one of my worst fears when returning back to school after thirty years. I never saw myself as a strong writer by any means. I struggled through taking English Composition I and felt inadequate after completing it. I never thought about the process that it took to write a strong paper before taking this course. I have learned a great deal this semester, which will help me in my future classes.
Like the layers on an oil painting, the more layers and revisions in a piece of writing, the more a piece glows from within. Similarly, the more pieces that I wrote during this semester, the more effortless it became to create each new layer. With lengthier papers due in shorter time frames, English 1102 forced me into a more efficient method of writing that still maintained its quality: the method of drafting. Though it meant binding myself into a long term commitment, using drafts solidified my writing process and provided an efficient alternative for my writer’s block. In and of itself, sticking to drafting was a challenge, but it has helped me better explore and develop my thoughts throughout the
