A semester is about 3-4 months long. In that time, different topics were covered. Even though there were different materials covered, most of the assignments dealt with rhetorical knowledge. For example, in the summary and analysis assignment, I had to write a summary of a scholarly journal and then analyze using the rhetorical concepts. Throughout my years of writing, I never had to do such a long rhetorical analysis on an article. With this assignment, I struggled since I did not have much knowledge in analysis.
In the summary and analysis assignment, I had to summarize a scholarly journal and then analyze it using the rhetorical concepts. The length of this assignment was 5 to 7 pages. I had never done such a long analysis, which made it
The challenging component this semester was the transition from high school English reading and writing level to college level. It is mainly because High school writing did not have many expectations from students, its main focus was on the ideal five-paragraph essays. As compared to college, writing is mainly geared and focused on one’s ability to thoroughly answer the assigned prompt. Initially, I was not sure if I was capable of handling a fast-paced course, however, I quickly adjusted to the change and I am glad that I chose to stay. In English 10, I have learned many valuable elements that I can incorporate into my everyday writing. I have included my writing from project 2 a rhetorical analysis on, “Black Lives Matter”, which effectively demonstrates my growth as a reader, thinker, and writer.
Look to see how many journal entries are required for your grade level on the page where your book is listed. Journal entry requirements are per book. You are all reading different books, of different lengths, and of different levels of potential analysis. The more you converse and analyze the text, the more you will be prepared with the essay assignment and test to follow in September.
It’s hard to imagine that just ten short months ago I was sitting in a classroom building a spaghetti tower with no idea what a rhetorical analysis essay was or what the word anaphora meant. Now, just a couple of months later, I have read and analyzed six different novels, learned to write an argument, synthesis, and rhetorical analysis essay, expanded my lexicon of literary terms, and sat through a three hour AP exam. This class has not only given me the skills to master the AP exam, but it has also given me knowledge to succeed in future English courses and in life. Through this course, I have experienced unparalleled growth in my reading comprehension and writing abilities.
Reflecting on this course over this semester, there have been many lessons learned that will be valuable, as we enter the business world. Our first lesson was to learn to work together, as a team, to prepare a short memo, long memo, letter, and email for use in the business world. This is a lesson that will experience many times as we do our daily work. Punctuation and grammar are so important to present to the client and other organizations that we are professionals. It could mean the loss of a sale or acquiring new business. It’s like dressing for work; looking professional or unprofessional.
I reflected back over the last eight weeks of this course. The nursing outcomes in course NR 511 has prepared me to meet the MSN program outcome #7, MSN Essential III and Nurse Practitioner Core Competencies # 4 Practice Inquiry Competencies.
Proofreading was a major issue that I came across that I had to worked on seriously because it reflected my grade. My professor allowed us to edit each other’s paper which really gave me more insight on my writings before I turned in my final draft. We had to complete a Rhetorical Reading Response something that I found very interesting. This assignment taught me to look at a short passage or story and critique it with a persuasive method. Some example questions you might ask when writing an Rhetorical Reading Response are: How the author develops his opinions, how does the author get the audience attention or give a key idea in the
First, rhetorical analyses require a writer to think beyond what they are used to doing. It is less challenging to interpret what a speaker is trying to convey, but more challenging to figure out as to why they are trying to make the audience believe their message. Secondly, I was also required to memorize an abundance of new terms in which lost all of their familiarity over the summer. The requirement of these terms being used throughout the entire essay made the process extremely stressful. Eventually, I ended at a point of adding minimal effort to writing my rhetorical analysis. Lastly, the pure length of the essay created a deep difficult. When I spent an entire evening writing a paper and realized I was only halfway done, I was shocked and just wanted to give up. I pushed through the struggles and wrote an acceptable
The most difficult part of taking the Ap English Literature test was the essay section. Discerning a conversation between both characters in the test and formating a helpful prewrite made it difficult to write the essay with a paragraph per prompt given the 40 minute time limit that should be spent on each essay.
I assessed 71 years old female, Ms. Smith (fake name), who appeared in good physical health. She was alert and oriented because she was able to tell me the correct date and place. She did not seem to be in any distress. Eyes were symmetrical, sclera was white, and pupils were equal, round, reactive to light, and accommodating, and extraocular movements were intact. No hearing deficit was noted because Ms. Smith was able to repeat the words that I whispered into her each ear. I did not note any breathing difficulties as she was able to breathe through both nares equally, lungs were clear bilaterally upon auscultation, and she denied shortness of breath. No swelling or tenderness was noted on palpitation of lymph nodes. Ms. Smith denied heart pain or palpitation, and heart beats were regular upon auscultation. Extremities were symmetrical bilaterally, and muscle strength was strong upon assessment.
Rhetorical analysis is a guideline which allow writers see how well they can address the prompt. They all have to do with evaluating our paper. Everything writing has to have a purpose; it 's to show the reader what they need to know as they keep reading on the paper. Here in this writing assignment, the purpose of my paper is to evaluate an old assignment from the previous course in my field. The assignment I will be using for this rhetorical analysis is a project paper from a Civil Engineering Seminar. But before I start talking about my assignment, I want to talk a bit about myself.
The final role play assessment was used to test the knowledge and skills that were learnt and attained throughout the curriculum which was followed by personal critical reflection on the interview. According to Payne (1998), critical reflection is the core of social work, as it enhances one’s development and improves practice which ultimately lead to improved outcomes for clients (Askeland & Fook, 2009).
2.) I prepared for the second October TW by reviewing the different rhetorical devices and understanding when they should be used and how to analyze them. In addition, I also came up with a thesis and topic sentence outside of class so that when the actual timed write occurred, I would not spend additional time on attempting to come
As the semester has progressed, I find that I have certainly improved my skills of ascertaining an informative HPI and history. I feel more comfortable with the sequence of questions to ask and find that I am better able now to focus primarily on the information obtained from the patient, instead of devoting a majority of my attention to remembering what I should be saying next. I have also learned to work better with my wonderful peer in my PCM group and to learn from the things they do well and to understand and utilize the constructive criticisms they give me. One thing I can improve upon is communicating with patients (especially standardized patients) about sensitive topics such as discussing end-of-life care and adverse childhood experiences.
I struggling on how to properly write a rhetorical analysis paper. I struggled with this paper so much because I never had to write anything like this ever. I could not grasp the idea of using logos, pathos and ethos and trying to interpret those rhetorical strategies into how an author used them. However, I was able to easily write a summary paper. Writing a summary paper was the easiest for me because all I had to do was summarize the authors main ideas and I only had to use one quote throughout the entire
At the start of this class I questioned how you could be taught business in a class setting. I truly felt that business is something that you gained knowledge through experience, on the job training, and company advancements. In the past few weeks of digging into our Intro to Business class (chapters 1-8), I feel that I actually have a better understanding of how and why things work the way they do in a business setting. I’ve had business employment experience; and I feel that I have had a few moments in the literature of this class that gave me a bit of a “aha” moment. Moments that I was able to link back to my experience and thought, now it all makes sense.
