Respectful Relationships defined – For a relationship to be considered successful both partners need to be accepted for who they are, feel safe, valued and need to be equal. If this is all done within the relationship you have the chance to get to know each other and potentially have a healthy, successful relationship. How may a relationship be considered no respectful – A relationship can be deemed non respectful when one partner in the relationship wants to leave but the other partner is not allowing them to. They may be threatened if they leave the relationship and are basically forced to be in a relationship with someone. They are not taking into consideration the other partners feelings or thoughts within this situation. 4. It is deemed disrespectful when one person manipulates the other partner into doing what they want. Both may give consent at the beginning but later on one of them decides they have had enough. The other partner still wants to continue so they pressure the other one into continuing as well disregarding what this person wants or their rights within the relationship. How does consent apply to a relationship where sexual activity has become part of it – Consent should be present from both partners within the relationship; and if one partner doesn’t want to then the alternative partner should accept that decision that has been made. Consent should also be given every time sexual activity is present; one should not assume that consent given once means that they have given it for every time after that as well. Anybody under the age of 16 cannot give consent for any type of sexual activity; the parents of that person must give the consent and if consent is not given then you are disobeying the law and charges can be brought onto you. Consent also doesn’t count when it is given by a drunk person. Drunk people do not have full control and are not capable of giving full attention to any activity they complete. So you must wait until that person has full awareness and is no longer under the influence of alcohol. Two
