Many young students want to pursue a career in accounting but are still wondering whether the possibility of matching this job or not. In general, the accounting industry is considered the industry that many students including myself choose and study. Graduate, students easily find a job and have a steady income. Not only easy to find a job and a stable income, I began to choose accounting because of the peculiarity quite "comfortable" of the industry: not too demanding, picky, I just have to like working with the numbers and skills required when working with numbers. Since accounting is an indispensable part of all companies and organizations, so this is one of the best craft unemployment negligent that I want to purse.

I believe TVA would be the best place for me to find that. The courses that I have completed, my working knowledge, and personality are what set me apart from others. As a Shift Leader at Little Caesars, I was responsible for inventory and accounting at the end of every shift, along with the other duties management entails. At the high school level I had six separate classes in the field of business technology and accounting. I attended a week long academy for aspiring accountants at the University of Tennessee Knoxville the summer of my junior year where I learned a great deal about accounting concepts and careers. So far in college as a double major in Management Accounting & Information Technology I have completed my basic management and accounting courses, along with cost accounting. I have also completed two introductory Information Technology courses as well. One of the most misunderstood job positions in the United States is accounting. Accounting is often described as a dull job that requires a mastery in crunching numbers. Despite accountings misconceptions, it is often considered one of the most satisfying jobs. One particular accounting title, Certified Public Accountant (CPA), is one of the most popular qualifications accountants seek out. To organize and represent CPAs, the American Institute of CPAs (AICPA) was formed. Today, AICPA is informing the public about accounting and uses the slogan “Start Here, Go Places.”

My goal is to become a Certified Public Accountant, in order to achieve this goal there are many steps. My first step will be to earn and receive my Bachelors in Accounting; I chose to enroll at Colorado State University – Global Campus. CSU-Global has a program of study that matches my needs but also many resources available to the students, including post education employment information. I am excited about this opportunity and plan to take full advantage of my education and the opportunities that CSU-Global has available.

I have a grown up surrounded by the bookkeeping, accounting, and tax preparation professions, as my father has held his CPA for nearly 40 years and my parents operate two successful income tax preparation offices. While in college, I eventually chose to complete a degree in finance, wanting to branch away from accounting while still being able to take advantage of the knowledge gained from my upbringing. However, after having experienced multiple professions, my current employment as a contractor in Chesapeake Energy’s accounting department has inspired me to pursue furthering my education.

As an accounting major at the J. Mack Robinson College of Business, I chose to conduct my interview with an Internal Revenue Service manager. The goal of this interview was to seek career advice from a seasoned professional, Mrs. Fulton, and how she became very successful in her position. I was also eager to know what skills and qualities are needed to be an accountant.

I consider myself a sharp, professional Accountant with a great attention to detail and excellent skills that thrives on a good challenge and fast paced environment. I graduated from Iona College with a Master degree in Public Accounting with honors. My educational background has prepared me for my dream to be an Accountant who is aggressive and a professional in multi tasking and data analyzing. The first big question on deciding a career in accounting that was brought up was Public Accounting vs. Private Accounting. We discussed that Public Accountants were more of service providers to clients; this could include audit, tax, and advisory service roles that the company provides to their employers. On Sophomore Career Day I got the opportunity to better comprehend the accounting aspect and how it connect to a variety of career for instance real estate, supply chain management, and even leadership coaching. Accountancy is a great portion of a business because if it is based on numbers and rules that determine if a business is in line. I have been told that accounting is the safest routine in business because they will always be needed. Throughout the presentation I got to learn the insight of what it really means to be an accountant in distinct careers.

The area is an expanding section of every major accounting firm, and it combines advanced financial modeling with effective communication to provide clients with thorough solutions in areas such as due diligence, valuation, and general accounting advisory. Because I have already began refining the skills in this area and wish to continue my experiences in finance and investments, pursuing this career path matches my interests exactly. Furthermore, I have recognized that a significant amount of alumni from the program have taken this career path, which strengthens my belief that the Graduate Accounting Program would be a perfect fit for me.

I am very excited to apply for a Co-op position with Manning Elliott this summer. I knew I wanted to become an accountant in my senior year of high school. I attended a guest lecture from a CPA for my accounting 11 course to learn more about the career path. That lecture taught me a very important lesson: that accountants are not boring number crunchers. Accounting is actually a dynamic career that allows a person to continuously grow and develop. They work in teams and have excellent personable skills. I have been a numbers person from the start, but the logic, analysis and application of concepts is what attracted me to this profession.

In any business environment from a clerk’s position to CFO, public or nonpublic, these individuals should reflect on how proficient they need to be while performing accounting services especially when dealing with public monies.

Accounting professionals are in very high demand. The nature of work in accounting is so vast an individual would have so many different areas of accounting to choose from. Accounting requires people who can work with complex business structures, computer systems, and financial analysis packages. Accounting work further requires an aptitude for mathematics and the ability to compare and analyze accounting data quickly. Accountants also need to have strong communication skills as they must effectively communicate accounting data to their employers and/or clients.
