Dianne Feinstein: She has been our Democratic Senator representing California since 1992 and was the first female Senator to hold the position. Dianne was a native to the state born on June 22, 1933 making her 83 years old, meaning she has been a woman leader in power for some time making major differences for our state. Barbara Boxer: She had been our Democratic Senator representing California since 1993, she is 75 years old. Senator Boxer is ranking member of the Senate Select Committee on Ethics. She is a senior member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, where she chairs the first subcommittee ever to focus on global women’s issues. 3. The Newark Desalination Facility treats brackish groundwater to remove salts and other impurities, and the Blending Facility blends San Francisco water with local fresh groundwater (with higher hardness) to provide a blended supply with lower overall hardness.” I find this district to be a very important part of our daily lives, we need clean water to survive everyday and without the Alameda county water district managing our water we might not have enough to provide for everyone. Senator Kamala Harris from Alabama is a democratic senator for the state of California. Prior to that, she held the role of 32nd Attorney General of California and District Attorney of San Francisco. Before her political career she served as managing attorney of the Career Criminal Unit in San Francisco and later as chief of the community and neighborhood division. Kamala Harris is also the first woman and Jamaican American to become attorney general, as well as third woman of color and 1st biracial woman elected into the senate. 1 This Howard University graduate is used to filling significant roles. She is currently serving on the Committee on Intelligence (Select), Committee on the Budget, Committee on Environment and Public Works, Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs.2
President Barack Obama nominated Sonia Sotomayor for Supreme Court justice on May 26, 2009, making Sonia Sotomayor the first Hispanic female to be nominated for higher court. Sonia Sotomayor was born on June 25, 1954. She is currently a federal judge on the U.S Courts of Appeals for a Second Circuit. If nominated she will be replacing the retiring Justice David Souter and she will also be the first Hispanic and the third female Justice. This will be a huge milestone for the Hispanic community. Looking closely into Sotomayor qualification and experience we can predict that she will most likely be approved by the Senate.

The name of my chosen state-level legislator is Royce West, and he is the Texas State Senator for District 23. He is African-American and his religious affiliation is Baptist. She made no staffing changes to his team until she was elected in her own right in 1979. She was re-elected in 1983 and served a full second term. John F. Seymour was born December 3 1937. He is an is an American real state investor and politician. He is a Republican, served Anaheim, California as a member of its City Counsil from 1974 to 1978, Then he became the Mayor of anaheimfrom 1978 to 1982, and as a State senator from 1982 to 1991. Elizabeth Warren is a democratic senator from Massachusetts who was elected on November 6, 2012. She is known for fighting for the middle class and because of this she is skilled in the topics of bankruptcy and financial pressures that face the middle class (Biography). When she was campaigning for senate in 2012 Elizabeth proposed the question: : Do we want to be a country that thinks "I got mine, and the rest of you are on your own? Or are we a country that believes that we make investments in our future so that we can thrive and our kids can do better than we do? (Issues).” She keeps the middle class in mind when making political decisions. Warren bases her political choices on her upbringing. Her family struggled with medical bills, making her in favor of Obamacare. She grew up with pride in her country, and she wants to allow immigrants to have the chance to feel the same way about the United States.
Congresswoman Suzanne Bonamici was elected in 2012 to represent Oregon’s first district, which is located Northwest of the state. Bonamici is currently on two committees which are Education and Workforce and Science, Space and Technology. Her main priority as Congresswoman is to advocate for federal policies that can benefit working families a chance to succeed in the economy. Bonamici has been a big advocate in not only helping workers to become financially secure but also saving up for their retirement. The youth engagement program has a multitude of resources within their program including, events or support for participants, partnerships, and grants. The many events open to students within the program are, restorative practices, reading/writing/math support, SAT prep, writing workshops, campus engagement events, FAFSA workshops, college/career conversations, career connecting, and post-secondary application support. In regards to partnerships held by the program, their main partner comes from a subcontract with the NSO along with, individuals and organizations with expertise in different programming elements (social workers, counselors, mentors, and those in trauma care), and mutually beneficial partnerships such as university-community relationships. Lastly, the programs grants include; $10,000 from united way for restorative practice training and $10,000 from ford for reading and writing tutoring.
