The Virunga Gorillas is endangered but smart and amazing species. The Virunga National Park or NKP is located in the Democratic Republic of Congo and “is home to nearly 200 gorillas” The Virunga Gorilla is a massive animal. It has a short trunk and broad chest and shoulders. the Virunga Gorillas have a large head and hairless, shiny black eyes and ears. There has been a argument whether or not to keep the mountain gorillas in a nature reserve or to let them stay in their own habitat. My personal opinion on the the Virunga Gorillas shelter is they should be put in nature reserve because the virunga gorillas can be checked for disease that can help prevent their extinction, virunga gorillas can be better taken care of, and they can live their
The Gorilla beringei beringei or mountain gorilla, was first discovered on October 17th 1902, by a German officer named Captain Robert von Beringe (Berggorilla and Direkthilfe, 2002). Mountain gorillas play a large role in it’s particular ecosystem through consumption the gorillas control and maintain vegetation that is vital for a healthy environment not only for the primate but also other species that live in the environment as well. Since the discovery of the mountain gorilla much fascination has been drawn toward the species. However, the gentle creature’s population has had a sharp decline from Rwanda’s belief in sumu, poaching, human disease, and unregulated tourism. In efforts to revive the species population from extinction, persistent activism through worldly foundations are helping protect the mountain gorilla species.
Mountain gorillas (Gorilla beringei beringei (scientific name) ), are critically endangered with only about 880 left in the wild. Mountain gorillas live in Africa’s national parks in protection.
Have you ever wondered about gorillas? A gorilla is a very strong built great ape with a large head and short neck. Gorillas are the largest member of the primate family. Gorillas are quiet, shy, peaceful, and live in central Africa and tropical rainforests. Several thousand years ago, gorillas split from its closest relative the chimpanzees. There are four types of gorillas, being Eastern lowland, Western lowland, mountain, and cross river gorillas. Ecology is how organism interact with one another and the environment. It is the study of relationships between two living organisms.
The Jane Goodall Institute website provides information about the projects regarding the protection of chimpanzees and other primates. Based on the institute’s initiative to protect the primates by providing education to the community, supporting sanctuaries, and working with law enforcements (website JGI). Furthermore, the information provided on the program Roots & Shoots points out a guide to those interested in helping the wild life, and provides aid to elaborate new plans to help the primates. The first step is to acknowledge the problem, in this case is finding a way to protect the chimpanzees. Second, to elaborate a pan, the JGI conservation program uses technology such as cloud computing and remote sensing to provide up to date information on the
I have finally came to a very difficult decision of choosing the new mascot for our school. I have chose the Lowland Gorillas. In the two following paragraphs I will explain my decision of choosing the Gorillas and also why I think they are the best option. We would need a mascot that is tough and dangerous and will crush the enemy. I feel like the gorilla is our best option for that.
One well know organization that is out there trying to fight for the rights of Great Apes is, the Great Ape Project (GAP), located São Paulo - SP - Brazil. GAP is an international movement that aims to defend the rights of non-human great primates, which are the closest relatives in the animal kingdom. They believe that the abuse of great apes in laboratories, circus, entertainment shows, and zoo can be considered as a kind of slavery. When great apes are unable to be release to the forest because of mistreatment, this is when the mission turns to provide the best quality of life and state of welfare for the animal in captivity. They state that in the sanctuaries, chimpanzees are treated for physical and psychological traumas and stress caused
With a population of only 880, more than half the populace of Mountain Gorillas live in the Virunga Mountains, bordering the Democratic Republic of Congo, Rwanda, and Uganda. Threats to this species caused by human actions include habitat loss, disease, and poaching. With the repercussions of the war in Rwanda and fallout of the civil war, waves of displaced people have encroached in and around the mountain areas that are home to the Gorillas. With this thrust of human populations into the
The intelligence of the gorilla is still being explored. The gorilla shows more persistence and memory in solving a problem and is more likely to perform a task out of interest unlike its nearest relative, the chimpanzee which will only do it if he gets an award. Gorillas can also identify geometric shapes more correctly. The gorilla, KoKo, was taught how to do sign language and was taught almost over 1000

One day all of the animals were in a contest. The contest was held by King Gorilla. King Gorilla said that whoever finishes the pile of stuff wins a pot of gold. Once everyone knew about the contest they started it. The contest was held near the King’s throne. Everyone thought that they would win. After all the animals failed, the monkey was up. Every time the monkey was up, he took a mouthful of the stuff then went to rest in the tall grasses. The monkey knew that the pile was black pepper. Every time the monkey went to rest another monkey came out. This happened during the contest. They did this by the Gorilla’s throne. They did this because they wanted to win the pot of gold. Soon after the monkey won, the other animals caught on and went
The Western Lowland Gorillas are critically endangered animals that require our protection and support. The Western Lowland Gorillas’ greatest threat is poaching the gorillas for food and the destruction of their natural habitat. Wildlife preserves are constructed, but the poaching continues due to unstable governments and high price of the gorillas’ meat. The governments in African countries must be stabilized to prevent poaching and destruction of the Western Lowland Gorillas habitat or these animals will become extinct.

Have you ever wondered about the Mountain gorilla and how they are disappearing quicker than they are reproducing? Two living creatures can bond emotionally, and they don’t even need words to speak to each other. That’s precisely what happened when park ranger Patrick Karabaranga comforted a mountain gorilla shortly after the gorilla’s mother was killed by poachers in July 2012.
