Before I go any further I'd like to focus on the white background a little more. Without any doubt the photography of Richard Avedon increased the popularity of the white background with a great deal. Avedon, born in Manhattan in 1923, was one of the 20th century's leading fashion photographers. He was just 21 when he started working for Harpers Bazaar, later on shooting for Vogue and Life magazine. His most famous work, and that which he himself considered his best work, was the series "The American West". He suffered from an inflammation of the heart at the time, and went to the West to recuperate and began chronicling the people of the West. Documenting them over a period of five years. He photographed loners, drifters, workers, homeless

David Bailey took a ‘simple’ approach to his photography. David Bailey was a photographer for Vogue. He said “I’ve always tried to do pictures that don’t date. I always go for simplicity”. A lot of his work was done in black and white as it will never date. Back in the 70’s black and white was an original effect to use and even today black and white still has a massive effect on the world of photography. These were known as timeless shots. I would take a similar approach with my work because of the effect of the simple work. To make something so simple have a huge impact can really strike an audience as a talent and would be good on the front of a magazine. He used many cameras but the one that he use
Contributions he made to photography were the creation of a dry plate formula and a machine for preparing those plates. The innovation of this was that it made photography much easier for professionals and was one of the first steps he took to make photography accessible to many. This type of plate would be used many photographers later. George
When people think of professional photographers, they think of people taking pictures for a company or a person. But the reality is, professional photographers are the artists of pictures because they are the ones who make sure the pictures are at the right aperture, shutter speed, and Iso resolution rating. People think pictures symbolize the place setting or a memory of the existence of what they’re taking. For a professional photographer, they see the quality of picture by the lighting in the background, exposure, and the focus that creates that perfect picture. When I think of a good professional photographer, I think of Richard Avedon. Richard Avedon was a professional fashion and portrait photographer who did a wide variety of professional photographs from clothing designers and Motion Blur photographs.

Not simply a great photographer and ethnographer but a man with enough compassion and foresight to recognize that here was a once proud and free people whose traditions and culture were quickly disappearing via assimilation into a conquering white man’s society. His passion and drive to capture those traditions is reflected in this quote:
William Henry Jackson was well known for his photography of the American West. The reason he did photography about the American West was because in 1866 his brother and William took a Union Pacific Railroad train to the last stop which was near Nebraska. He then got a job as a bullwhacker on a wagon train. This company traveled along the Oregon Trail. In Omaha he open up a photography business with his brother in 1867. This essay aims to analyse the key role that the surrealist movement has played on fashion and the fashion industry. Both from a historical point of view, as well as its continued impact on fashion today, as a source of inspiration for contemporary fashion designers.
Helmut Newton was a German-Australian fashion photographer, October 31st, 1920 to January 4th, 2004, who was very influential because he helped change how the fashion world took photos. While working for the French, American, German, Italian, and British editions of Vogue magazine, he changed how the fashion world took photographs because he got out of the safe zones that were already established and made new bold work that got people’s attention. He let women show their sexuality up close instead of just making them look distant and wooden. The fashion photographers of today still use the same approach he started because it makes the photo and the clothes the model is wearing more interesting. He also made it to where it’s common to see things that used to be considered taboo, like fetishes, kinks, lesbians, and people will not be shocked by it. Helmut Newton helped change how the world views sex and fashion just by wanting to try more risqué things; things that he only got away with because of the time period and all of the stuff that happened in the 1960’s.
