Did you know that you can solve a real-world problem? Well, say who created the gun, and why?Richard Gatling invented the first gun. He did so in the late 15th century. Ottoman empire used firearms as part of its regular infantry. The first successful rapid-fire firearm is the Gatling Gun, invented by Richard Gatling collected them in the American Civil War in the 1860s.
The Texas State Rifle Association (TSRA) is an interest group that represents tens of thousands of members throughout the state of Texas. The TSRA’s objective is to protect the rights of a law abiding citizen to keep and bear arms under the constitution of the state of Texas and under the constitution of the United States. The TSRA uses its influence through it’s members and currency to consistently attain their objective.
The Civil War is a harsh part of American history but the life of the soldiers was a real struggle. Most people know that the soldiers had a miserable life but it was far worse than people assume. Weapons weren’t easy to use, training was like starting from scratch and the camp life was miserable. Whether is was the North or the South, life wasn’t easy. Therefore, during the Civil War, the soldiers continued the courageous and daring fight in spite of poorly constructed weapons, labored training, and dreadful living conditions.
Hiram Maxim created Machine Gun and in 1883, he created the first multi bullet-firing weapon. This lead to wider development of automatic weapons which were later used in war. (Note: the 1862 Gatling gun which was ran by hand cranking.)
"A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed." This is the Second Amendment; the amendment that has split a nation due to differentiating opinions. The right that the amendment grants, that is so controversial, is “the right of the people to keep and bear Arms.” This is the statement that creates the factions of the confrontation. The faction that has the most traction in their argument is the pro-gun faction. They argue that the second amendment protects the other nine.
By December 1941, Finn was stationed at Naval Air Station Kaneohe Bay on the island of Oahu in Hawaii. As a chief aviation ordnanceman, he was in charge of twenty men whose primary task was to maintain the weapons of VP-11,a PBY Catalina flying boat squadron. On the morning of 7 December 1941, Finn was at his home, about a mile from the aircraft hangars, when he heard the sound of gunfire. Finn recalled how a neighbor was the first to alert him, when she knocked on his door saying, "They want you down at the squadron right away!" He drove to the hangars, catching sight of Japanese planes in the sky on the way, and found that the airbase was being attacked, with most of the PBYs already on fire.[3][5][6]
During the American Civil War (1861), Richard J. Gatling invented a firearm weapon that aided with loading, reliability, and the firing of sustained bursts. Born and raised in Hertford County, North Carolina Gatling grew up to be a physician and became involved in many organizations such as the Order of American Knights. The Gatling gun is a machine gun composed of multiple barrels that rotates around a central axis that has the ability of firing at a rapid speed. Before his invention, he followed the path of an inventor and soon after he devoted himself to the perfection of firearms. After his invention of the machine gun he then founded the Gatling Gun Company.
Have you ever wondered what a blacksmith and munitions maker at a Sugar Plantation in the 1800s was like? At the Levi Jordan Plantation, an excavation revealed a cabin that indicates a resident that worked lead, manufactured lead shot, and possibly other metals. This cabin is now called the “Smith’s Cabin”. At the Plantation, western artifacts used in African cultural context have been found during the excavation. Indications from these artifacts show that although these African and African Americans were no longer in their original cultural context, they still maintained some of their African cultural beliefs. The excavation of the Munition Makers’ cabin revealed information about the Munitions Maker, the purpose of the cabin, and showed findings of animal remains.
In 1862 Dr. Richard Gatling invented and patented the original six-barrel, .58 caliber Gatling gun that fired up to 300 rounds per minute (McNab). The Gatling Gun became just the beginning, however, as it would lead to world renowned inventions in the military and change war forever.
Alchemists experimented with mixtures of natural ingredients, trying to find a substance that might allow people to live forever. They also searched for a way to make gold out of cheaper metals. By the 10th century, the Chinese had made the first weapon that used gunpowder: the flamethrower. Early flamethrowers contained gunpowder mixed with oil. The Chinese used them to spray enemies with a stream of fire.
This event represents a decline in Canada’s history due to its bad reputation among Canadian soldiers as an unstable weapon. In the early years of the first world war, tens of thousands of Canadian soldiers carried the Ross rifle into battle– and many hated the weapon for its unreliability in combat. Even though the Ross was an excellent hunting rifle and an exceptional sniper weapon, it wasn't tough enough for the hardships and demands of the Western Front (dirt and mud trenches). For example, during the Battle of the Somme in France, many Canadians realized that the rifles were longer than the Lee-Enfield, a problem in the cramped confines of the trenches. Furthermore, the Ross rifle had a tendency to jam when firing which caught the disapproval
Gunpowder is believed to be originated in China, dating back to as early as 142 AD. A man by the name of Wei Boyang writes a substance with the properties of gunpowder, created by alchemist, mixing 3 powders said to be “explosive” in today’s terms. Scientists cannot be certain than this was actual gun powder he wrote of, but no other explosive know is made of only 3 powders. Over the next 700 years references are made to this Chinese gunpowder until finally in the 800’s AD the first confirmed references and formulas using a variety of different proportions of key ingredients - saltpeter, sulfur, and charcoal to make the explosive occurred. The Chinese used the powder in military for multiple types of bombs and projectiles much like modern day
Samuel Colt with his invention in 1836, the Colt revolver establishes a series of events that change the course of American history. From the Wild West and the Civil War, to present days, this simple invention would create a Western culture and contribute toward making America a global military
The Gatling gun was my first thought for this week’s post as I have a special interest in it. The issue I had was I saw little impact on the Civil War. I have saw in a few articles that 12 of them were bought by General Benjamin F. Butler and two were used at Petersburg in 1864 against the Confederate attacks. From what I can find they work quite well, but saw very little use in battle and normal performed poorly. While they seem to have had little impact on the civil War they do show the way industry was changing the way wars are fought.
The only thing more exciting for a gun owner is buying accessories to go with their gun and ammo. When it comes accessories for 22 mag ammo, gun owners will find a wide assortment is available for them. Of course, what accessory is best for you will depend on several things, including how often you shoot and how much.
What is it that teens look for in a lyrical artist? Perhaps it's someone they find they can relate to through life experiences; such as partying, addiction, suicidal fantasies, family issues, or political and social views. One example of this would be a rising artist that goes by Machine Gun Kelly (MGK) who mostly talks about how corrupt and twisted our government and society as a whole really is in a way that catches the listener's attention through catchy beats and witty, snied lyrics that undercut today's “socially acceptable” views. Then again it they might just love the energy the young artists have when on stage when there running back and fourth, stage diving, and doing overly rehearsed dance moves. Another might be that they are infatuated
