Rock and Roll is not just another type of music, it is a part of people's lives. Rock and Roll shocked the world since the 50’s. Most people found this new music very enthusiastic, especially teens. Across America where rock and roll was created, some people saw good in this music and others saw bad. This is the history of rock and roll. Most historians trace rock and roll back to the 1950’s, more specifically 1954. When this new type of music appeared it changed the world, especially among young people. Rock and roll did not develop immediately, it was regularly denounced throughout the 50’s because it was believed it had a negative impact on the nation’s youth. Rock and roll is often considered the baby of rhythm and blues. Technological advances helped create a new market for this new music. During the 1950’s records also changed with the advancement of technology. More information could be put onto a record and played at a higher quality. The transistor radio was also invented and became popular, radios were now much smaller and less expensive. They soon found their way to young people’s rooms. With radio came laws of radio, Jim Crow made laws for the radio which radio never obeyed, it took music into places it normally would not be heard. “In the 90’s groups such as Nirvana and Pearl Jam combined punk, fast electric guitar playing, and heavy metal.” This new style of music is known as grunge rock. Grunge started in the late 80’s but by the mid 90’s bands broke up or became less visible. Although these bands have faded, their music continues to affect modern rock music.
Rock music today is still being created by popular bands such as Nickelback, Green Day, Avenged Sevenfold, and much more. All types of rock and roll can still be found today, people have been influenced by the artists who started rock and roll.
