During the beginning days of Earth, the land was flat. There were no rocks and no mountain tops. Then God put a man named Rocky onto the Earth to create large hills; however, he didn’t know how to fulfill God’s wish. Rocky thought long and hard about how he could create a large hill. He wanted to please God and make him the best hill there was. Rocky reflected on his ideas of how he could create the hill, but he couldn’t seem to find the right way. Then, Rocky thought of a plan. If he dug up grass and soil he could put it in a pile until it was large enough to please God. He started digging dirt and soil and placing each handful on top of each other. After a long two years, he finally completed the hill. As he stood back and looked at his
The rocks symbolized that there was a piece of the mountains with them and that every time they stepped out the door they could feel and see the freedom that they would get if they endured. “They also represented inevitable forces.” This being that no matter how much they disliked what had happened to them there was nothing that could change it. The rocks where going to stay where they were put for as long as they are told to do so. Even if they wanted to be a part of the mountain they were told that they
IntimeBrian learned that while he was waiting for a plane that he needed to hunt, build, and use his strength to survive. The author wrote, " He positioned his spark nest- as he thought of it-at the base of the rock, used is thumb to make a small depression in the
Despite a family history of geophysicists and rock enthusiasts, I’ve never found the subject of rocks particularly fascinating. However, an exploration of Earth Science has lead me to the discovery that rocks are actually hidden gems (often literally), and that there’s more to the topic than one would think.
While doing this Silko writes, “ The mountain wind was cool;it smelled like springs hidden deep in the mossy black stone. He could see no sign of what had been set loose upon the earth: the highways, the towns, even the fences were gone. This was the highest point on the earth: He could feel it. It had nothing to do with measurements or height. It was a special place.
hills are round and soft as breasts. And on the level vegetable lands are the mile-long
I’m reading Warriors Tallstar’s Revenge by Erin Hunter. My favorite setting is on page 304. Erin explained, “he scrambled past a hawkthorn, skidding as the slope steepened. Bracken slowed him down, dragging at his paws. He pushed through it, relieved that the slope was flattening out, and paused at the bottom to taste the afternoon air.” This reminds me of our grandpas big sliding hill. While I was climbing it to get to the top I slipped on a patch of ice and started to slide down the hill. I had to use my hand to make myself stop but I got to the bottom of the hill first. I rolled over smelling the afternoon air mixed with the burning
exalted, every hill and mountain shall be made low. The rough places will be made plane, and
At the start you are accelerated upward the first hill via hydraulics. By the time you are at the top you are oriented upside down, then you are flipped upright and you see how high you are. As you approach the edge you slowly accelerate until you rush downward accelerating tremendously all while you are spinning extremely fast in free fall and pure weightlessness. Then you slow down to a constant speed as you enter an extremely realistic
Blessed he felt then, for he had made it up the mountain! Trees were little, but Finley did not care, he instead felt grateful for what was given. There were not many trees in the area, but what was lost was made up in the animals; birds and minor predators were being used for food in the area. He saw the houses were tall and shaded, which was
Cold, Steep, Rugged. These are just a few of the characteristics of the Great Rocky Mountains. The Rockies are an unusual harsh environment. The ecosystem is very different from the savannas, forest or arctic. Only a few animals are adapted to the low oxygen levels, steep terrain and frosty temperature. Some of these animals are wolves, eagles, grizzle bears, and mountain goats. Herbivores like the mountain goat whose diet mainly consist of the giant lobelia and Diapensia also have to adapt to the harsh environment. They form a tight waxy mat to be protected from the windy slopes.
I came to and looked around at the eerily familiar landscape, but something was missing. The house. It was gone. I slowly walked towards the plantation that I had visited so many times before, and as I grew closer and closer, I saw something peculiar. What was a rock doing in the middle of an empty field? The field was empty except for a single tree, which
In Greek mythology, a king of Corinth who was condemned to Tartarus, a region of the underworld for the wicked. "As punishment for his evil life, he was forced to roll a huge stone uphill for eternity; it always fell back before he could reach the top"(Sisyphus para. 1). This reference contributes to my understanding of the poem because of the punishment that Sisyphus received. Cullen throughout the poem is questioning why God is doing such things. Many times people who are religious keep their faith even though several bad things could happen to them.
He explained, “Rocks are eternal and do not change shape or form like other earthly substances. Structures placed on rocks are not expected to fall apart as easily as if the same structure were situated upon sand or dirt.”
He stares pensively over the precipice and says: "Look at the stone, how it keeps going" (p. 158).
He had realized that he needed to take time out of his rushed life and re-evaluate who he was and what everything meant. And this all started (when the kid asked about grass?). As he proceeds to speak about his journey, his thoughts become gradually more intricate. He begins to discover himself in correlation with the earth and awakens into a state of transcendentalism in order to truly find his self worth. He looks at the grass and sees it as another chance. He looks at the clouds and sees someone's worth. He looks at the dirt and sees living after death. As he embarks on this journey his views are changed and open for the whole world to
