Art is an evolving subject that changes with time and ideas. Inspired by their earlier compatriots, some artists produce new artworks by enhancing the existing ones. Roy Lichtenstein became such an artist when he created a new version of the Bedroom at Arles painting after being inspired by the Bedroom at Arles artwork that was made by Vincent Van Gogh. Having received little recognition during his lifetime, Van Gogh’s popularity as a great painter and artist grew immensely after his death in 1890. He was a post-impressionist writer from Netherlands whose paintings gave rise to modern art. Gogh’s painting, Bedroom in Arles was created in October 1888 and is an expression of his own life. In addition to this painting, Van Gogh produced about 2,100 pieces of art out of which 860 were oil paintings. On the other hand, Roy Fox Lichtenstein was a modern artist who was instrumental in the 20th century art movement. His primary style was the use of parody to define pop art. Most of Lichtenstein’s work was influenced by the comic book style and popular advertising. Consequently, He was often referred to as a pop artist. Lichtenstein’s Bedroom at Arles is based on the original painting by Van Gogh, and it was made in 1992. This is the only painting of an interior that was made by Lichtenstein, and it depicts the contemporary appearance of a bedroom in the afternoon.

Rathnasambhava, the Transcendent Buddha of the South and Madonna Enthroned are very similar images that were produced by very different cultures. Both images were produced during the 13th Century. The image of Rathnasambhava, the Transcendent Buddha of the South was produced in Tibet during an interesting period of the country’s religious history. The branch of Tibetan Buddhism is led by a religious and sometimes political leader called the Dalai Lama. It was during the 13th Century during the reign of Kublai Khan, around the time of the production of this painting, that Tibet experienced the first incarnation of the Dalai Lama. Every artist has his or her own style of painting. Each painting tells some sort of story or has some type of personal meaning to the artist. One of the most important figures in modern art is Pablo Picasso. Not only was Pablo Picasso a genius in the field of abstract art, but he also experimented with sculpting and ceramics. Pablo Picasso has taken the world to many places with his unique style of work which is why I believe he is considered to be a genius of the 20th century.

Some of the most well known composers came to be in the in the classical music period. Ludwig van Beethoven was one of the composers, along with other greats of the time like Haydn and Mozart, which helped to create a new type of music. This new music had full rich sounds created by the new construction of the symphony orchestra.

When you go to an art show do you understand the symbolic interpretation of the pieces? Don’t feel bad, most people don’t. What’s so upsetting about that is that you really miss out on the experience. When I think about interpretation of art I think of Andy Warhol. Andy Warhol’s use of iconography changed not only the art world but the people who came into contact with his art. Once you understand his life and art, you will understand his art as a symbolic representation.

One of his jobs was to design the weather map for NBC’s morning news. In 1952 Warhol held his first exhibit, it was not a financial success, but it enhanced Warhol’s reputation as a commercial artist. But his spare time was now taken up with pop art, inspired by Jasper Johns and Robert Rauschenberg, two young pop artist, Warhol had come across in 1958. He began to paint, draw and print everyday objects such as, dollar bills, soup cans, postage stamps, comic strips, and soda bottles. According to Warhol, these were some of the consumer products “on which America is built.”

Roy Lichtenstein (October 27, 1923 – September 29, 1997) was one of the most innovative artists towards the end of the 20th century. He helped originate modern day Pop Art, and his first pieces of work were all based off of comic strips, advertisements, etc. that mimicked the indecency that newspaper reproductions had for printing. These artworks altered the history of modern art and created a new, American feel and view to the way art was seen as. Lichtenstein’s success was through all of his time, focus, and energy that was put into his creations, and he went on to create more than 5,000 paintings, prints, drawings, sculptures, murals and other objects after his peak in the 1960s.

Roy Liechtenstein, (fig 1) was born in 1923 into to a middle class Hungarian family living in New York, there was no artists on either side of his family and throughout Liechtenstein’s schooling there were no art

German composer and pianist, Ludwig van Beethoven, was born December 1770 and spent most of his life in Vienna, Austria. His first teacher was his alcoholic father, who worked as a musician at the Court of Bonn. Teaching him day and night, Ludwig suffered from his father's harsh and erratic behavior. For a time, he and his father played at the Church. As his father's alcoholism increased, Ludwig became the main musician.

Charlie Chaplin did not use sound to communicate to the audience in his movies. Despite the fact that there was no spoken language, his movies were sensational and the audiences loved them. Chaplin was thought of as cinema’s first genius and has been called the single most-influential artist in the history of motion pictures. I am researching Charlie Chaplin to learn how he became a sensational comedian and one of the best actors of all time.

Vincent Willem van Gogh was born on March 30th 1853, in Zundert, The Netherlands. Van Gogh spent his teenage year’s working for a firm of art dealers; however, he did not embark upon his art career until 1880. Originally, he worked only with dark and gloomy colors, until he came across the art movements developed in Paris known as, Impressionism and Neo-Impressionism (Meier-Graefe 4). Van Gogh than included their brighter colors and unique style of painting into his very own creations. He produced more than 2,000 works, including around 900 paintings and 1,100 drawings and sketches, during the last ten years of his life (Meier-Graefe 10). However, most of his best-known works were produced in his last

Arguably one of his most famous pieces of art, Whamm! displays this method of painting. Those methods make the panels look different from the original panels but remarkably similar at the same time. By designing his subjects the way the mass media portrayed them, rather than attempting to accurately reproduce the subject Lichtenstein helped define the Pop Art movement.

When he went to art school in St. Petersburg it was the period when he became exposed to the avant-garde movement in art.
