Think about how the Royal Navy would be compared to the U.S. Navy and their similar purposes. The Royal Navy and U.S Navy are services full of naval warships ready to defend their respected countries when needed. “The Royal Navy of England hath ever been its greatest defense and ornament: it its its ancient and natural strength; the floating bulwark of the island, William Blackstone.” These two navies are both proven as being key resources and powerful forces in their respectful services of each individual country The Royal Navy was fonded in around 16th century, before the foundation of the Royal Navy the English Navy was a motley assortment of, “Kings ships,” but didn’t really take form until the time of the 16th century. Known as the senior service, it’s the oldest service. From the end of the 17th century until well into the 20th century it was the most powerful navy in the world, playing a key part in establishing the British Empire as the dominant world power. Due to this, it is usual even the non-Britons refer to it as the “ Royal Navy” without qualification (Wikipedia). The Royal Navy follows the motto of, si vis pacem, para bellum, the Latin phrase stands for, if you want peace prepare for war. The Navy was had issues after their victory in the First World War such being reduced in their Navy’s size. By the time of the Second World War, it was still known as the biggest Navy in the world. Before these battles, the Navy went through the following founding battles such as, the Battle of Sluys and the Hundred Years War. During the Battle of Sluys, the English Naval power seemingly declined as a result of the Norman conquest and during the Hundred Years War the battles with France started and dramatically increased the French menace in the 14th century,
