Running Heading: 12 STAGES OF DEVELOPMENT 1
There are many stages that a person goes through in life. Many milestones have been achieved throughout ones life during these stages. In this paper I will recognize and describe the twelve stages of development of a person. I will also explain the milestones that occur in each stage of life.
Pre-birth is the first stage of development for a human. It is the period when all the major organs and body parts of an unborn child is formed. There are many milestones in the miracle of creating a baby. At five weeks a baby's heart beat begins, facial features and limbs begin to form at six weeks. During the course of ten to eleven weeks the embryo becomes a fetus, its organs begin to work, and bones begin

Over the course of twenty four to thirty six weeks the child's brain and lungs will develop while they are beginning to sleep, wake, close and shut there eyes and suck there thumb.
The next stage is birth, it is the separation between a mother and her child. This will typically occur around the thirty nine weeks mark but may be earlier or later. "Early term" is when a baby is born at the thirty seventh week, the baby does well but needs more time to fully develop the lungs and brain. When a baby is born at the forty first week it is considered "late term" and the forty second week is considered "post term" in which then the doctor will more than likely induce labor to avoid complications even though test are being done to monitor the baby and mother.
Infancy is the stage of development after birth, it is the first three years of a child's life.
During this time a child has learned to roll, sit-up, talk, and crawl along with many more

It is the stage of adolescence. This is the time when a child begins to become a young adult. This stage typically occurs after puberty. During adolescence a child is beginning to obtain responsibilities as would an adult should have. Children are beginning to prepare for adulthood and its difficulty. A child starts to be self conscious and more careful of their actions. A person should be starting, attending or finishing high school at this point in there life.
Early adulthood is the next in development. It is when someone becomes independent and more curios about life and what it holds for the future. During this time a person may begin to start college or live on there own. They may also have a job, family or a significant other at this time in there life. Typically this stage in development occurs at the ages between twenty and thirty five.
During the ages of thirty five and fifty there is another developmental stage. It is the main period in someone's life. This stage is called midlife. At this time in a persons life they would typically have a career, home and family. Also at this time people may have grandchildren.
People during this period of there life are typically married and are in good
A child develops through its whole life. They can develop; physically, linguistically, intellectually, socially and behaviourally. “Physical development is the way in which the body increases in skill and becomes more complex in its performance” [Meggitt, 2000, Page 2]. Twenty five days after conception; the body of the chid has developed immensely from the small fertilised egg. Up to birth the foetus mainly develops physically however once the child is born the child then begins the long process of development. Not only do the gross motor skills and the fine motor skills develop on the baby, but the sensory development also widens on the child.
To commence with, during development a human being grows at an astonishingly rapid pace. According to Guttmacher Institute, “89% of all abortions in the United States are performed in the first trimester of pregnancy.” (2005). In the first trimester (16 weeks), the baby’s eyes and eyelids, nose, mouth, and tongue have formed, and the baby's reproductive organs also develop. The cardiovascular system is the first system that begins to function. The baby’s heart begins to circulate their own blood, similar to his mother’s heart, twenty-two days after conception. Electrical brain activity can be detected at six or seven
Through a young person’s development, from birth to 19 they are expected to follow a development pattern including physical, social, environmental, behavioural, intellectual and communicational. The expected pattern is seen as the average time period it would take to accomplish these skills. In this assignment I will discuss the main stages of development and how it can sometimes differ for different sexes.
Erikson’s (1968, 1980, 1982) psychosocial stages of development provide a framework for the different stages of development throughout the human lifespan. These stages of development begin at birth and continue until death, and separate the lifespan into eight stages based on chronological age. Within these eight different aging stages are corresponding psychosocial stages. Each of these psychosocial stages represent a conflict between two characteristics of development for that particular time period in a person’s life.
From birth to 6months- a child will develop a range of skills starting with being alerted when you say their name. Their neck muscles will become stronger and they will be able to hold their head
Babies can start to grasp things in their hands and are able to feed for e.g. by latching onto the motherâ€TMs breast they can suckle. The colors can be recognized. Babies start to look at the environment. Recognize parents and enjoy repetitive activities. Babies have no any verbal language
The first two years after birth, through the developing person has to do with three domains biosocial, cognitive and psychosocial. There are many different theories regarding the first two years. The three most influential works on growth and development was done by Piaget, Freud and Erikson. Piaget’s theory was called cognitive development or the sensorimotor stage. This is when the child interacts with his surroundings through physical action such as pushing, sucking, grabbing, etc. Freud’s theory of development is psychosexual. He proposed three stages in psychosexual development: oral, anal, phallic. Erikson’s theory is psychosocial. From birth until about one and a

The brain continues to grow and rapidly develops in three stages known as Neurogenesis, Synaptogensis, and synaptic pruning. Neurogenesis describes the process of rapid division within the nervous system to create functional regions of the brain where most of the process is complete before birth while some regions continue to form after birth such as hippocampal cells. Synaptogensis forms new connections between neurons as over time connections increase in density where some only form one synapse and others form hundreds of thousands. Synaptic pruning removes synapses due to the fact some are only needed temporarily, some are damaged or become dysfunctional, or that some are not used often enough so they are removed for specialization. The newly formed fetus from weeks 9 to 12 shows signs of simple movement with reflexes in arms and legs while sex organs begin to differentiate. Fingers, fingerprints, and toes are fully formed around week 16 and around week 24 the fetus develops response to sound. More remarkably the brain doubles in size between week 16 and 28, while developing basic behavior. The fetus gains greater coordination skills as the cerebral cortex grows larger and personality also develops. Around the 28th week the fetus can mediate sensory input as thalamic brain connections form, such as responding to bright light from within the dark womb. Growth slows down around the 30th or 32nd week but the fetus continues to gain weight and by week 37 has developed all organ systems necessary to survive outside the uterus. Prenatal development ends with the birth of the fetus around 38 to 40 weeks
This stage in the life span is considered the time when a person moves from the childhood stage into the adulthood stage. During this time there are many physical, cognitive, and personality developments that affect the
Babies, A babies most important organs, like the brain and lungs, are still developing in weeks thirty seven and thirty eight. Babies born earlier than 39 weeks are the ones that will have the most life threatening conditions that have to be in the intensive care unit, A baby delivered early is likely to have breathing problems because the lungs are not fully developed. Most premature babies

According to parents.com, after conception, a fetus begins to develop rather quickly. In the fifth week of pregnancy, a baby’s heart begins to beat. A baby also develops three distinct layers, ectoderm, endoderm, and mesoderm. These three layers will eventually form the body systems that are necessary
First trimester: By 12 weeks of pregnancy the foetus will be fully formed. The ovum grows and develops certain important parts of the baby’s body such as spinal cord, nervous system, gastrointestinal system, heart and lungs in the first four weeks from conception. The heart starts beating and brain and other organs forms by eight weeks. At this stage, the face is formed and arms and legs start to move. The baby grows to 3 inches long and
The development of the first stage is birth to 4 weeks. This point is likewise recognized as the Neonatal Period. Infant are held with a number of abilities that become the foundation of future growth.
