After watching the ad Now they are Asking You by Safety Firearms Storage, I will analyze what persuasive techniques are used. This ad is to persuade you to lock up any firearms you may have in your home. The ad uses many different ways to get you to “lock it up”. They use visual, audio, and textual components. The first line said in the commercial is “you make me wear my bike helmet.” This draws the listener attention and makes one ask many questions. This was purposely used because getting someone to listen in the first place is the hardest part. According to Newton’s laws of motion, “an object in rest tends to stay at rest and an object in motion tends to stay in motion.” The same will apply in this case. A person listening tends to stay listening.
The majority of the advertisement is black and white. This is to represent how the solution is obvious and the issue is black and white with only on right answer. This gives a more serious tone to the ad. The last 8 seconds of the video it shows a red box and the logos of the companies who sponsor this video. This is where the ad changes from black and white to color. They used the color red because it is a very vibrant color. The only color being the red boxes makes the viewer know that it is very important.

as if you are actually there talking to the kids. The music playing in the background is fast and melancholy. The children’s voices are sad and questioning while still maintaining innocence. A teenage boy brings up a question by saying “so why do you keep a loaded gun in your drawer?” This shows a switch in the video dramatically. The rest of the video consists of the children continuing this question. After they finish talking a deep male voice starts talking. This voice holds authority while keeping calm. The children no longer are looking directly at the camera and instead looking off in the
The purpose of this paper is to discuss the methods of persuasion that are used in this commercial, and how the use of ethos, pathos, and logos has made the commercial from ASPCA persuasive and successful.
When it comes to the topic of commercials, most of us readily agree that commercials are irritating. Where this agreement usually ends, however, is on the purpose of the commercial. Whereas some are convinced that commercials are meaningless, others maintain that commercials tell a story. Effective commercials are repetitive and illustrate a story. Marketers use rhetoric marketing, the art of persuasive speaking and writing, when persuading an audience to buy a product. Rhetoric marketing is especially effective through the illustration of a story. It is effective because the marketer is able to relate to the consumer with a story or message. Advertisers also use the appeals of logic, credibility, and emotions to intrigue interest in a company. Coca-Cola’s advertisement, “Falling,” depicts the product as a confidence building companion suitable for young love through a series of logical and emotional appeals that visibly promotes the brand’s credibility.
The commercial is very persuasive in many aspects. Throughout
The advertisement that was chosen for this project covers that of gun issues, especially with the increase of school shootings over the years. Right off the bat with the advertisement come at full force with the message it wants to spread and the change it wants to bring. On the left side there is a young boy holding a Kinder egg; which is banned in the US as a hazardous toy. Whereas on the right there is a small girl who is holding a rifle of sorts. Both children hold a steady and grim gazes as they stare at the viewer; it is meant to be in a way unsettling and putting off because we never want to see children in any sort of harm's way.
The reason for this is that from the advertisement one could sense an appeal to our sense of identity, self-interest and emotions. It added some amount of excitement and humor. A positive image was created from the video about the Papa John’s Pizza and it really made me feel persuaded to buy the pizza.
First, the subject of the commercial deduced after watching it is one, which cannot be ignored. Almost everyone was affected by the September 11 attack and paid attention to any opportunity that shows respect for the victims. Secondly, the audience only realized that it was an advertisement at the end of the commercial when the company logo is shown. But more influential is the use of rhetorical appeals.
The persuasive technique of appeal to fear is prominent in the anti-meth commercials due to the fact that these commercials focus primarily on frightening situations to try and persuade the targeted audience not to try meth even once. According to Logical Self Defense, appealing to fear is used in an “attempt to induce belief or action” (9), and an example of this would be “I have a gun! Gimme the money!” (9).
In an advertisement presented by “Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America” two little girls are sitting down on the floor in the middle of a library. One is holding a rifle and the other is holding a copy of “The Little Red Ridding Hood”, with a caption reading, “One child is holding something thats been banned in America to protect them”. Their intended audience is
In the beginning you believe that this woman has a gun to protect herself from the intruder, when it suddenly disappears to represent how Hillary took them away. Ofte times women are weaker than men and are at more of a risk of being attacked. This advertisement shows that a woman is capable of using a gun to defend herself if the government allows it. Because of this, this ad reaches out to women who are often home alone or feel unsafe where they live. It makes them think about what could happen if they themselves wind up in the same situation as the woman in the commercial. This could persuade them to vote against Hillary so that the option to have a gun still
That world we are living is harsh and, therefore, we must do everything we need to protect ourselves and our families. That's exactly why having a gun is becoming more common in recent times. What is very important to know is you have to have a safe for your gun. This will not only protect your firearms from children, but this will also protect those guns from getting stolen. You should opt for a small gun safe if you have just one gun that needs to be wonderfully protected.
This video is shaped in rectangular form which is how most videos are shaped. The text at the bottom of the screen is white with a black background. White amplifies cleanliness and has a positive connotation then, the black on the other hand means negative connotation and has a sorrowful feel to it. This commercial gets your attention fastly by showing devastation of homes, schools, and roads. The music playing is a very sad and
The organization behind this ad is Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America, commonly known as Moms Demand Action, which was found in response to the devastating Sandy Hook shooting back in 2012. Although it started as Facebook page, it has grown to a 130,000 members strong from 50 districts. The organization stands to fight against the epidemic of gun violence while still supporting the 2nd amendment to the constitution. The creators of this ad campaign did a really good job attracting its audience. Anyone would be curious to know why two kids, one carrying a fully automatic assault rifle, another holding a children’s book are seated next to each other, in what seems to be a classroom or children’s library.
The advert seeks to influence people to be aware of their surroundings and prevent possible
I chose to write my analytic essay on gun ownership in the United States. I selected an ad that was released by the National Association of Gun Rights and observed it. Four main aspects of the ad that I noticed was the background of the image, the text “Mama didn’t raise no victim”, the woman, and the stance of the woman holding the gun. By looking at these key points of the ad, I was able to view the ad the way the NAGR intended me to. From there, I took it upon myself to read into the major points of the ad and interpret the significance behind them, enabling me to draw conclusions from the image and create questions.
Not all advertisers do such a great job at taking their point across in an ad. Sometimes there are those ads that you can stare at endlessly, trying to figure out what it is trying to persuade you of buying, but you never understand
