I cant believe that I am finally a senior in high school it seems just like yesterday I was beginning high school. As I begin my final year I am beginning to realize that this year I will be faced with many responsibilities and will make tons of memories. But I hope that I am able to make my senior year the best yet. Through this final year I hope to have passing grades in all of my classes, to win pep rallies, and to have perfect attendance.

The poison injected by senioritis stings of change. Although there is nothing wrong with high school, seniors begin to feel dead. They don’t find the excitement of attending high school anymore. Senioritis can be contagious; it gets to the best of the seniors out there. Without realizing it, seniors mentally begin preparing to leave their lives as they know them for change. Seniors don’t really comprehend why they suddenly resent high school, but they do. They are bored with it. High school becomes dreadful to the seniors, and they just want out. Students start with being careless and then their grades start falling along with their GPA. After grades comes excessive sweat pants wearing and a horrible attitude is protruded towards school. Senioritis is a common issue across American schools today and can have many different intensities that come along with it. The main cause of such an event is the loss of motivation, especially one who may already know what they are doing for future endeavors such as college or having an awesome job plan lined up for themselves. Everything from just wanting to graduate high school already, to truly despising the building you are locked up in all fall under what senioritis truly represents. Within Woodstock Union High School, whose numbers are slightly less than 400 students, one can see how broad of a spectrum this whole issue has become today.

When I think of a senior project, I think of an educational opportunity that help students obtain adult-like skills, interests, and hopefully, maturity. Also, it’s a form of expression for most students, because it’s their chance where they can show and demonstrate what they’ve accomplished throughout their experience with their topic. As I mentioned before, it helps students obtain interests but also helps them acknowledge others and expand their minds to new possibilities or opportunities. Suddenly Senioritis hits students like a freight train. Why would a student who planned on being a English major or a lawyer even want to think about taking a calculus class? Is there a reason for a future college professor to be taking classes on animal sciences? Seniors begin to get a sense of frustration that they were led to believe that those classes were needed. As the school year is about to end, students, especially seniors, are excited for graduation. However, senioritis is so common that some seniors might face difficulties getting full credits in every classes if they missed school a lot and did not have enough credits for their graduation plan. So, it will be nice to know what to do and not to do throughout high school years.

During my senior year of high school, I had the opportunity to become a Junior Ambassador for the Chamber of Commerce of Walker County. Being a Junior Ambassador for this organization was a great experience.
