Young, but driven, Jorge began dancing in the spring of his senior year at Sharyland High School. He was welcomed into Melba's School of Dance's family where he was introduced to ballet, tap, jazz, hip hop, and folklorico.
At first, Jorge had a hard time keeping up with his classmates. Yet, he had this fire to keep trying and moving forward. He practiced and used every moment to make up for all the lost time he had yet to discover his love for dance. Every hallway of his high school was a chance to tap his feet away, every grocery isle a possibility to six count prep into sloppy doubles, and every long sidewalk as an opportunity to tombé pas de bourrée glissade saute chat for his life.
Despite all odds, bold 18 year
Transferring to Carencro High School was really terrifying. I was a Lafayette High School student and we just thought we were the best school since we were an A school. Like “ nobody couldn’t tell us anything.” That been my mindset for the past 3 years since I’ve been there. I remember there were times I was like” I can’t wait to leave that school.” I honestly didn’t think I would be leaving so early.
The warm breeze blows past me as I open the door to the Sweetwater Middle School. Shouts and hoots of excitement about the New Year came from behind me as I speak amid my social circle. It was going to be a wonderful year with delightful students and teachers. By the end of the year I knew to have been mistaken to think it would work out for me.
“ In the early month of May at the Menifee Middle School, it was a normal day until ‘YES’, ‘HIT HIM’ ‘HIT HIM.’ Students were pilling out into the schoolyard toward the echoes of cheering. With the excitement in the air, it was the chance for students to grasp the glimpse moment of exhilaration.
Becca lived in florida. She is 15, but 5 years ago her parents died. They got in a crash. Becca was with them but somehow she was the only one to live. She was ten, so it was traumatizing to see her parents pass away right in front of her. She now lives with her grandparents. Their names are Kathy and Bobby. Becca goes to Edgewood High School. They live right near a forest. She gets bullied because kids there don't understand why she lives with her grandparents. Becca has been exploring the forest for years. Actually ever since she was a little girl. Before her parents died, she would visit her grandparents a lot because they didn't live to far from each other. Since Becca has been living there for so long she is used to people asking questions, so she doesn't get as hurt as when people asked her what happened 5 years ago.
I am completing my second weekly-required meeting and hate this one more than the first. At least the first one was with just my fellow English teachers discussing our summers. This meeting includes the English AND History teachers. Apparently, Bonnie-Leigh High thinks the two subjects are closely related and feels they should have their meetings together to discuss freshmen. I still don’t understand why we are discussing the new freshmen class twice a week for two weeks. I could be putting this made time into Aiden. That is if Aiden had any free time. With September quickly approaching, Aiden has done nothing but write and write. Any conversations we have are small and we haven’t actually seen each other in a week, which is abnormal for us.
A stranger in the village is someone that is new to a place or isn’t familiar with something. Approximately two years ago I moved, which meant I had to move schools too. I was 15 years when I moved to McEachern High School but it made me be a more independent person.
The fresh dew in the air, cold and frosty, sent a chill vibrating throughout my body. The sun peaked out from behind the mountain, yet the tint of bleak darkness remained in the sky. Subsequent to the prolonged drive, we arrived at La Reina High School located at Thousand Oaks, California. We all filed out of the van and Miller, my debate coach, handed me a blue laptop, thin and smooth, with the number six atop. A wave of anxiety broke over me, as we walked in. My mind was clouded and racing with a million thoughts. I had never done this before, and here I was at my first debate tournament. Debate was a very prominent part of my life and I was strongly determined to earn pride and respect from my coach. As we went into the cafeteria and to
We pull up to the May Wood County High School, my mom quickly drives off as I get out of the car. I turn to the building, not even two seconds after looking at it, a lady in black comes up to me and grabs my arm. "You need to get in the school before the bell rings young man!" Her voice was eerie in a sense. She dragged me into the building, standing there were tons of other students talking to their friends and socializing. The lady walks back outside to "greet" the other late students. I stand in the middle of the sea of students, not knowing what to do. Everyone was eyeing me and I could definitely hear them talking about me, all of a sudden the bell rang and the flock of kids moved down the hall to their first period. I had to take a quick
One Thursday morning when I was in the school with my friend two boys were picking on me and my friend it happen on the bus and the hallway. That made me and my friend upset me and my friend goes to Arnall Middle School. it happen 1 week ago. What happened was two boys were picking on us so we told them to stop. But they keep going so we told the teacher. So he was talking to them out of the classroom door. So they can have a conversation about bullying.
The arrival of the town’s carnival meant two things: summer was coming to an end and school was starting up again. While Ryder would normally groan at the thought that his summer vacation was ending, it was kind of bittersweet this time. After all, he was entering his last year of high school and it would be the last time that he would walk down the halls of McKinley High. It was crazy to think that he would be graduating in just a couple of months and despite the fact that he was pretty stoked to move on with his life, he couldn’t help but be a little scared too. He knew he couldn’t dwell on it too much though, which is why he had to make the most of his senior year, while trying to keep his grades up.
I can still remember that day... Heart was beating real fast, palms were sweating, stumbling across my words and I honestly felt like the world was coming to an end. Starting over at a new school halfway through the year has got to be every kid’s nightmare. I went from a private to a public school which was the hardest switch of my life.
The sun appeared over the horizon, painting the sky in countless warm golden shades. The rising sun brought with it the awakening of the people and the city started to slowly emerge from its nightly hibernation as the roads filled with vehicles that seemed to roar in the crisp morning air, As the workplaces slowly filled the noise of the roads died down as people started to go about their daily routine content with the habitual life that they continued to live. This would not stay true for the students of Steele high school for much longer.
On one faithful day I started my car and was about to leave Croatan High school. It was a cold January day it wasn’t sunny I wore a black shirt and grey shorts. As I start to pull out my spot into the straight way to get on cougar lane someone stops me. The person that stopped me was my buddy Jacob he made the jester for me roll down my window and so I did and he said. “Hey man do you know when the next test is in Mr. Slater’s class,” to which I reply. “No let me know if you hear otherwise,” and he walked away. I roll the other window down as Stair Way to Heaven comes on and turn up the music. I pull into the straight lane behind three cars and wait for someone to let one person in so the line will die down.
“Bye McKenzie! See you next year!” exclaimed my friend Kimberly, as i walked to my parents vehicle. I had finished my first year of high school successfully at Brooks County High. As I got into the vehicle my parents greeted me with a curious looking smile on their faces. I smiled back and wondered what news they were hiding from my brother, sister, and I. I asked my brother and sister if they knew what was going on, but they did not know. The suspense was almost unbearable for me to handle.
The next morning, Becca awoke with a piercing headache. Nauseous because of the pain, she went straight for the Tylenol. If she didn’t have Caleb to look forward to, the covers would have gone back over her head and stayed there all day.
