The For Mustang Shelby G.T. 350 came out in 1965-1966 and was often referred to as the "Cobra." The first G.T. 350 was not built for comfort or the common driver. It was built for racing under SCCA rules. The next one built, in 1966, had more comfort for the purpose of casual driving. It also lost the tag of being a Mustang that year. The 1967 G.T. 350 had more luck with its simple body upgrades and design changes. The acceleration was impressive for its time. The car went from 0-60 miles per hour in 7 seconds and topped out at 140 miles per hour. In 1968, Cobra was added into the name of both models. In 1968, Ford started manufacturing what became known as Cobra G.T. 500 KR. The KR stood for "King of the Road." This car was manufactured with
Ford demanded more, so Shelby made the decision to install a 7.0 liter stock engine in the revised GT40s. Enter the Mark II GT40 performance era. In two seasons, the new GT40 became a strong contender on the track. In fact, this improved Mark II won the 24 Hours of the Le Mans 4 years straight, from 1965 to 1968. The ever-dissatisfied Ford was appeased; he had a gold, silver, and bronze medal to hang on his wall. This car has frequently been called the finest vehicle ever produced by Ford. <http://www.cobragt40.co.za/cobra.htm>

III. Mustang kept on developing through the 60’s getting bigger engines and more sleek design. They made the cobra jet and Mach 1. Then the super cobra jet and the boss. And many more each one getting faster and more expensive.
At one point Shelby was split from ford. Shelby was split for a long time after the first Ford-Shelby mustangs. In 1982 Shelby was working with dodge. In this time Shelby made a Dodge Shelby, he was even behind designing the Dodge Viper. Shelby then changed back to Ford in 2003. “Shelby came back in 2003 to start work in the new Ford GT, a car designed to compete with European sports cars.”(So long) In all Shelby inspired and designed many iconic cars in his day.
The 2004 C5Z06 and the 2012 C6 Z06 are two just just a few street cars to have broken the eight minute time. It’s rumored that in 1963, a single Z06 convertible was produced. The 1963 Z06 is said to have been driven for approximately 7,000 miles — and then stored. Few have seen this legendary Corvette. The Corvette Z06 is a Corvette racing car. Only one Corvette Z06 was produced in 1963. The Z06 is a really fast car, It is used to be raced and have fun driving fast in. Late in 1962, when Chevrolet unveiled an all-new Corvette for 1963, a buyer could tick a single box for RPO Z06, the "Special Equipment Package" that included just about everything he would need to go racing, save for a helmet and fuel (Hemmings.com). Model year 1963 was practically a clean sheet design for the Corvette team. Even as Ford had moved the once svelte and sporty Thunderbird more into luxury territory, Chevrolet doubled down on performance with the strictly two-seat Corvette (Hemmings.com). The performance for the Corvette Z06 was outstanding back in the 60’s, it was double the performance for Fords svelte and sporty Thunderbird. The corvette Z06 was a great racing car, reaching 300+ HP. The car was used for racing and only racing. Overall most outstanding performance Corvette in the
Next, came the Chevrolet Camaro. When the team of specialists and engineers at GM got there head together, they formed one of the best sports cars to date: The Chevrolet Camaro. When the Chevrolet Camaro was first introduced back in 1967, it was not thought very much of. The Ford Mustang had been out on the market now for quite some time and had made a very good impression on its buyers and the spectators. After General Motors pushed the sales campaign and got the first few buyers to commit they were hooked from day one. The word of mouth quickly spread of the sheer enjoyment of the Camaro vs. the Mustang. The Chevrolet Camaro provided a cheaper and better all around alternative to the Mustang. The Camaro came with loads more options and not to mention the stand features alone out did the Mustang's. The biggest reason for sales increase was the power delivered by the Camaro. The Camaro was able to astonish the buyers with loads of power, given the time period, for a cheaper price of the Mustang. Chevrolet too competes with Ford in the bigger and better race to a super sports car. Once such creation is a 600 HP Big Block Camaro. The Camaro was developed as more of a show car to show people what can be accomplished with aftermarket products as well as the time and effort to put into a car. The horsepower that the Camaro develops is unbelievable. "Horsepower builds with straight-line progressivity from 2,000 RPM (187-HP) to 6,000 RPM (600 angry ponies)" (Karr 48 -
More than 22,000 Mustangs were ordered on April 17, 1964 when it was first released by Ford. Show rooms were visited by more than four million people and there were over 2,600 ads in newspapers. In 1974, the Mustang II began. Buyers loved it since it was smaller and had a weaker engine. This would use less fuel during the fuel crisis. Sales had tripled since the year before. It also was easier to drive because of its rack-and-pinion steering. In 1978 Mustang added many fashion features that would appeal to female buyers. The rear seat was divided into two seats even though it had been a single seat in the years before. Along with many new colors there were also pockets in the door handles, illuminated driver vanity mirrors, and "Fresno
Ford uses the placement of the three different vehicles to show this family 's loyalty to the Ford brand. First, the mother 's four door sedan: a stereotypical mom 's vehicle. As Phil Patton quotes George Butcher in his New York Times article "The perk here is size. [ ']Space is the ultimate luxury,[ '] said George Bucher, the Five Hundred 's designer.", making the Five Hundred appeal to the family that spends a lot of time traveling in the car. (2004) Second, the 1969 Mustang Cobra: a stereotypical man 's muscle car. According to the Ford Mustang Enthusiasts article "Ford Mustang History" only 867 produced and came with "A 375-horsepower "Semi-Hemi" big block with NASCAR intentions…" (2016) Ford also shows the 2005 Mustang: the more modern, younger man 's hot rod that was getting ready to appear on showroom floors. This shows their credibility on many levels of the car buyer 's scale, proving there is a vehicle for everyone.
In August 1964, Carol Shelby approached Lee Daocca, President of Fomoco at the time. Shelby had a vision to create a high performance Mustang and Shelby wanted a car that could hold its own both on and off the track. Once Shelby received approval to move forward on the project, he created a fastback 2+2 Mustang (Kelly). This model Mustang only had front bucket seats and a console but no back seat, which earned it the name fastback 2+2. This model mustang came equipped with a four-speed manual transmission for more torque, one of the fastest cars of its day. The 2+2 fastback Mustang remains my favorite model Mustang of this year because it had a sleeker, aerodynamic design, and featured a larger engine, the 289 cu in, which produced a whopping 306 horsepower (Tucker1). The official name for this 2+2 fastback Mustang was the Shelby GT 350: Ford named it this for street purposes (Kelly).
The first shelby mustang was made in 1965. This car was made as a track car. Thru 1965 and 1967 they made 348 copies of this car. According to a recent poll conducted with 53 students, faculty, and staff of Crane High School,91-percent of them prefer mustang over camaro. The reason being of them choosing mustang over the camaro is that the mustang has better exhaust. Also it is 5.4 decibels louder than the ZL1. In the show head to head they said that the mustang beats the camaro in handling (5).
Camaro, a car that is easily recognizable on the streets today is probably one of the most iconic and controversial cars that hit the streets in 1967. For over 45 years the Camaro has exceeded expectations and often surpassed the likes of its adversaries, the challenger and the iconic mustang. Critiques often thought that the Camaro would fall short especially to the mustang due to the fact that it has a 3-year jump on the Camaro, but sales records and Trams Am racing titles might mean that the Camaro is doing just fine. Even though the Camaro is still going strong for over 45 years it hasn’t been easy. Workers strikes, recalls, even ending the production of the Camaro were just a few of the Camaro’s

Bob Tasca knows his stuff and time and again he has proved just how much he does. His work has been noticed and has earned him praise and appreciation from his peers as well as car enthusiasts all over the world. His exemplary work on the Thunderbolt drag racers put him on the forefront when it comes to designers and when the time came; he was called in to put in some work for the Ford Mustang. Plans to redesign the Mustang for the 1967 and 1968 model years brought about a powerful machine with the 335 horsepower FE Thunderbird engine fitted under the hood.
Ford came out with a Mustang Mach 1. One of the meanest cards to hit the road at that time. The Mach 1 package was a performance oriented option. 1969 was the benchmark year for Ford Mustang in its production of performance names and engines. Standard it came with a 351W 2V and a 3-speed on the floor. A 351W 4V was optional as was a 390 cu in, and the huge 428 cu in Cobra Jet 4V with or without Ram air
