Should Chromebooks be allowed in schools
Many schools are switching to chromebooks from the original textbooks. And here is Taylorville we are starting to switch into chromebooks. There are many reasons as to why they would be a good alternative to the textbooks. My evidence to support this is that students will be motivated to be more creative and less forgetful in their school work. While they have their own problems, I feel that the benefits will outweigh their troubles. One troublesome problems the district will fret about will be the cost of each laptop for each student. Each chromebook costs around $200 to $250 and you will get many years of use out of them. They will stay up to date on their information unlike their hardback counterparts

This will help students because if they know they can design their work and chromebook to their personal desire. Students will also be obliged to carry a chromebook and a few notebooks and pencils in their backpacks instead of carrying so much weight in their bag. Everything students will need is all in one place and that helps take some weight off our backs and also makes us more organized with our work. They will also learn rather quickly how to type quicker and do many things with it because it is quite easy to access. This will have an impact on students work in a positive manner.
` Students with chromebooks would be better because it would be easier to collaborate with friends in group projects so they can be done quicker. With students getting work done faster more things could be taught throughout the year. It would be beneficial because grades would be improved. Teachers can help students who are struggling in class by sending them links to things that could help them improve their grades. Chromebooks would be a more efficient way to do things in a classroom with ways teachers could make lessons more interactive with the
At first, Chromebooks may seem fundamental. Once you see what kind of sites students are going on, you'll see why they have to go.
Another important benefit of implementing technology in the classroom is it can help teachers create personalize instruction and make it easier to provide accommodations. It can be very difficult and time consuming to differentiate instruction for a classroom of students. The use of technology can make this a much more workable task. By using technology, the teacher can differentiate instruction with just a few swipes per student. It also gives the teacher more options to work with depending on student need. For example, if a student has trouble writing, they can use an iPad with voice adaptive software to answer questions or complete assignments. This eliminates the stress they may feel being forced to write during an assignment or test situation.
Kardaras claims that technology cannot be used in schools, however I recommend that technology should be used in schools because it helps students keep in good health, save money and get good grades. To begin with, I think computers are easy to carry. Specifically, textbooks are too heavy for students to carry resulting a lot of students get shoulder disease. If they have e-books in computers, they would carry a computer to school without a lot of textbooks. In addition, e-books are cheaper than paper books. If a student has e-books, each semester he could save more than 400 dollars. That would ease students’ financial pressures. Furthermore, students can restudy lectures again and again because all lectures are on the internet. They can arrange
What were educators thinking when they decided to enforce Chromebooks into the school’s education system? They were thinking about the connection between student and teacher, but they forgot to mention other important details. If Chromebooks are introduced into the school’s system, it would end up being a lot more complicated and a hassle than most would think. Chromebooks should not be introduced to the school’s system due to poor policy in privacy, due to WiFi connectivity problems, and due to conflicts in affordability.
This divide between student and teacher experience and comfort with technology seems to have been exacerbated with the one-to-one implementation of chromebooks at City Middle School. Although all students were given a chromebook for classroom usage in January of 2016, teachers were given little adequate prior training regarding pedagogical implementation strategies. Lack of teacher training, compounded with administrative expectation that the devices must be utilized in the classrooms, has resulted in issues arising regarding the effective integration of the chromebooks for teaching and learning. The devices seem to be used, in many cases, as a substitution for traditional pencil, paper, or research tools, resulting in some incidences of low engagement and misuse of the devices. To understand how chromebooks can be better utilized in teaching and learning to promote student engagement in the middle school environment, various methods of implementation strategies, pedagogical methods and teacher beliefs about learning and technology were studied at City Middle School. Quality research specifically reviewing the effects of implementing
Many schools have switched from using paper textbooks to iPads or chromebooks, which allow students to access online textbooks. But is this a good change? There are many factors that need to be put into consideration, including the age group of a kids receiving the technology, the classes this tool can be used for, and the children’s ability to interact with others.
Chromebooks are a new technology that have been implemented into Green High Schools education system. Are they better for the students or the teachers? Do they truly help the education system? Have they made it easier for students to cheat? Have they created lazy teachers? Should teachers be able to change due dates change overnight? There are simply so many questions about the Chromebooks. Faculty seem to love them and on the other hand many students seem to hate them. As a student I have grown to hate these miniature trash bins for many reasons. When the wifi goes out absolutely nothing can be done. The pieces of technology are prone to break quite easily. Furthermore it has created a crutch for many faculty at Green High School. Chromebooks truly have created a hassle for our young adults at GHS.
Initially, it might appear the etextbooks are less expensive, but in the long run, they are much more costly. According to Williams, schools will have to “invest thousands of dollars to ensure each student has a tablet computer. Then consider the expensive software costs and etextbook licensing fees.” Similarly, internet is required and a lot of student do
It’s the end of school and you know what that means. It means the school board is going to have sixth through eighth graders white down if we should or shouldn’t have chrome books and why. I think that all Chesterfield schools should continue to have chromebooks. We should have chromebooks because they’re helpful, there is important homework sites and I personally work faster when I type instead of write.
The school board has been talking about getting rid of chromebooks.I think they are beneficial to all the students in Chester.
Currently, schools are switching to technology for all of their assigned work, rather than using paper and pen. As a student attending Fountain Lake Charter School Mark Burfeind experiences this everyday. Mark says, Fountain Lake Charter School are giving Chromebooks to the high school and middle school students, and you have no choice to deny the computer. Students are given the Chromebook so they can do homework and there should be no excuse for not having your homework done. Through the Chromebook you are to turn in all work. For the younger students, such as elementary students, they are given in class iPads and with these they can do learning drills and play learning games. Schools everywhere are dropping paper and switching to technology. Should kids now a days be forced to use technology? Yes, because with technology you are provided with effective ways of learning, it prepares you for college, and the real world.
The issue for Middle School students at SMS are the Chromebooks. The biggest problems involving the chromebooks are the responsibilities that come with them. The Chromebooks at Sherwood Middle School were a big problem for students. The Responsibilities that come with them are huge. In addition kids aren't able to change their backgrounds, do anything inappropriate with them, and if they dropped it or damaged it the school would have to replace it.
Harmony Public Schools use Chromebooks in classrooms to improve technology use among students and improve class effectiveness. It makes easier and faster for both teacher and student to access and process information.
Also, they will need to get Wi-Fi. Without that, no one can access their textbook or online work during school. And yes, students won’t have to deal with the weight of the textbooks anymore, but now they have to worry about finding certain cases or backpacks to carry their new tablet or notebook computer in. Not all backpacks are suitable to keep the laptop safe from harm. These harms can include theft, damage to tablet and many more. Theft is one of the biggest concerns. At the Miramar High School, they wanted to integrate technology into the curriculum for a project. (Gewertz). They issued out Apple iBooks to all of their students. 16 laptops were stolen; 10 by robbers, some armed with weapons, when the students were walking to and from school and 6 from inside the school when left unattended (Gewertz). With the massive storage of the tablets, it can be somewhat of a problem. Yes there will be a ton of storage but the student will feel tempted to download apps, games, and music onto the tablets.
During the last decades, laptops have become standard learning tools in university and college classrooms. Since today’s students’ are high-technology demanding and tech savvy, laptops manufacturers and engineers are constantly thinking of unique ways to design their products. With advanced functions and specifications, laptops can do various activities and educational tasks for students. Also, as technology advances, yesterday’s laptops are less expensive compared to today’s and tomorrow’s which allows every student to afford a laptop. However, educational institutions are concern about whether laptops in class hinder or facilitate students’ learning. Overtime, new technology and devices have been noticed to weaken student performance in
