I had one job in first grade, gym class soccer. All I had to do was not let the ball go into the net, and guess what happened? It went into the net. While the soccer game was going, the gym teachers had put on KidzBop and my feet just naturally moved to the beat. So of course during the entire game when the ball was never near my side of the field, the one time I twirled like a ballerina, the ball went straight into the net. From that point on, I was never picked to be the goalie ever again.I remember my mom surprised me one day after work, and enrolled me into Miss Mary Ann’s School of Dance, and it felt like Christmas morning on an ordinary Monday. The summer into my Junior year, my friends recommended me to audition for Shrek the Musical. The
My first job is at a trucking company located in Derry. Adding a job to my schedule now was not too stressful because it was only the first week of my junior year. Also by now in high school everything is predictable the first few days of instruction. We start the first few days of instruction going over the course material and expectations. Thus, letting me have more free time in the afternoon the first week. I started my first shift on a Monday, it was so hot outside. I can remember seeing the heat rise off of the truck hoods. I restored headlights and washed a couple of the box trucks there for the day. I was surprised how easy this was, and remember going home and telling my parents “This is the easiest job ever”. I was beginning to get a taste of what it is like to have a job.
It all started on a cold saturday night. It was a windy day. The leaves painted the streets and sidewalks all the shades of red. Small streams ran down the sides of the roads and vanished down into rusted grates. At the time, I was only 9 and-a-half years old. I had just came home from a long day of school and I was excited to watch the Shrek Finale. I ran up to my room, plugged in the cord into the audio jack and blasted the last Shrek movie. Unfortunately for me, my dad was home. He stood outside my door and called me a “loser”. I responded by telling him that “he doesn’t know Shrek like me” and he responded by backhanding my face. For his last attack, I was sent to bed without supper.
One of the first jobs I ever got when I was younger was being a cashier at a Save- a Lot grocery store. I was 15 years old and I absolutely loved that job.
The hero meets a mentor to gain confidence, advice or training to face the adventure
I came into my audition only auditioning for the ensemble, leaving the audition I ended up receiving the titular role of Pippin. There was also a dance audition, where we were asked to learn the choreography to All that Jazz from the musical Chicago, this was a challenging experience because I have had no professional dance training but I ended up doing very well and responding well to the choreographer and her teachings. This whole process helped me to develop my confidence and social skills. The auditions were the most like professional auditions I’ve ever attended, and therefore allowed me to better understand what the real musical theatre industry is like and give me a taste of what it would be like if I continued onto large productions. I was very lucky to receive the lead role, as I didn’t even audition for it, despite not seeing this at the time. There was a long break between auditions and the beginning of rehearsals, almost three weeks. This seemed like a very long period of time due to not being able to tell any of my fellow cast mates that I had received a
In William Steig’s Story, Shrek is portrayed as the hero who goes on a quest for an evil lord to rescue a princess from a dragon-guarded castle in exchange for his swamp. The Hero’s Journey clock begins in the hero’s ordinary world called status quo that encounters an incentive to venture in to the new world. That change is the call to adventure which will lead the hero to seek assistance. The Hero with the help of their assistants will face the trials and challenges of the unfamiliar world before the heroic action.
My job was called, an athletic trainer's assistant/water girl. The other two girls and I, as well as the athletic trainer at times, worked together as a team. While I was helping the trainer, the coaches, and the football team, I was earning community service hours on something that I loved to do and wanted to continue doing for the rest of my life. The trainer eventually got a job just for my school and became a teacher and the athletic trainer for all sports at the
During the summer, I worked at my aunt's coffee shop. I learned how to work with money and how to deal with customers. I also learned how to keep a business organized, keep inventory, follow step by step procedures, and keep records. Currently I am working as a soccer referee for children ages 3-9.In the summer of ninth grade, I took a course over the summer called waterbotics. In that class, I designed, built, programmed, and learn how to maneuver the robot in water. I had to come up with my own designs and rebuild, and reprogram the robots
Next, I was a shift manager or person in charge (PIC) at a local rollerskating rink. By the time I was 16 I was working as a PIC and then by 17 I was the sales manager. In both rolls I had to make sure things were going smoothly, people were where they were supposed to be, and resolve any problems.
I live in place that is a replica of the Disney animated movie The Princess and the Frog. N’awlins, Lusiana. Walking down the streets of the French Quarters, because the only thing in N’awlins is the French Quarters, of course) there is always a brass band playing, and there’s always zydeco music playing as well. People in N’awlins; natives, and tourist are always dancing, and singing marching down to Jackson Square to have a festival, because Jackson Square is the only thing that is in the French Quarters. Being from N’awlins, my daily food consumption only contains, Gumbo for Breakfast, Crawfish for Lunch, More Gumbo, and more crawfish for dinner, and of Course Beignets for desert. My daily mode of transportation is the Street car, because
During my sophomore year of high school, one of my teachers approached me and asked if I was interested in a job for the summer at the country of a local country club. While I was nervous at first, I accepted the job, and have now completed two successful summers there. The experience of having a summer job taught me many things; and as I continued to take on more and more responsibilities over the summer, I learned even more about how to be responsible at all times and to empathize with someone in order to understand their perspective and to help improve their experience.
The fourth movie that I choose was Shrek. Shrek is about an ogre who wants to live in peace, but gets stuck with an annoying donkey and all these fairy tale creatures. In order to get his swamp back he has to make the journey to save Princess Fiona from her tower and bring her back to Lord Farquaad. Just like Shrek, I did have a social anxiety disorder. When I started High School, I didn’t want to go with my friends anymore or talk to anyone.
I do not belong to political party yet, but I am coming near to the day that I do choose the Elephant or Donkey. I had an idea one day while watching the news to find that Republicans and Democrats could not make an agreement and the government would be shut down. ‘How can they not make an agreement,’ I thought? Then I remembered a time when me and my friends were playing football. We were playing two hand touch and Ryan said, “I was only touched with one hand!” Thomas responded, “No! I clearly got you with two!” Then there was a fight over who was right. Obviously, whoever was on Ryan’s team sided with Ryan, and whoever was on Thomas’ team sided with Ryan. Just because of this we no longer could play football. One of the other kids on Ryan’s
At 14 I started to work at a venue, Asbury Lanes, which was primarily ran by woman. This was my first taste of the music industry so I didn’t think much about the fact that I was surrounded by woman, I thought that was the norm. Then I started branching out, shooting shows and working with a non-profit that mainly markets to festivals and conventions. I loved every minute of it, I love creating art, capturing moments, and helping people in need. Working at Asbury Lanes was the best thing to ever happen to me; I found what I was passionate about and learned the ins and outs of it first hand.
A long line that covers all over the Universal studios. Waiting for our turn, my face dropping down, and looking at my watch for an eternity. My heart was beating so fast, I couldn’t wait to watch the 4-D Shrek movie and be full of green with envy. I’m not exactly sure but based on what I think, 4-D is just similar to 3-D movie.
