Who is Sikh?
Introduction: In today’s world every Sikh person faces lots of trouble on both sides West and East world. Whenever a person talking about Sikh religion or heard a name "Singh" or Kaur, every person most in every part of the world took a virtual memory of a person wearing a TURBAN with full mustaches and beard or a female wearing Salwar Kamiz with Chuni.

What are the problems that Sikhs faced from the beginning till now?
From 1400 - NOW: Sikh is the Caum (kind of race) which barely most Non-Sikh people can figure it out. Let me start this way: Most of every Sikh was very very great warrior, they are still now and they will be. If Sikh can't able to get justice, they will get it in various ways, and they did get it many times in the past hundred years. Sikh holiest Shrines called " Darbar Sahib" " Golden Temple" has been attacked two times, once in the time of Mughals Rule and once by Hindu Fundamentalist in late 1984.
Current Issues:
Sikhs in this centaury: There are many Problems that Sikhs are facing in today world. Most of the common problem is Political; people face this problem only in India. By saying Political problems I mean Corruption in Government offices, lack of good education, poor economy in which rich people are getting rich and poor people are getting poor. Every politician in India is crooked, I mean everybody from police officer to Governor. Second most problems that today’s Sikh faces are the social religious issues. For example: Many people think that eating meat is allowed in Sikhism, which 100% wrong, another example is that many people cut their hair thinking that keeping hair long is not so important, which is also 100% wrong. There are lot of wrong things are happening, which people think that they are doing is correct, for example:
Eating Langar on
To be classed an official Sikh you must have taken the Amrit(Holy Water)and have vowed not to touch, cook or eat any kind of meat, fish or eggs. Some Sikhs are not strict with this and do eat these things but usually trying to avoid Beef or Pork as long as it hasn’t been killed a Jewish or Muslim way. This is called Kosher, it the way animals are killed.
Disputes over land seem to be a catalyst for almost every hostility and war since the dawn of time. The addition of politics and religion into the matter only serves to aggravate an already tense situation. Kashmir knows this all too well. The conflict between Hindus and Muslims seems to be an ever reoccurring battle. This is also evidenced in population battles. Hindus make up the social majority of the population of India by almost eighty percent. Feelings of tension and uneasiness are a natural reaction to being dominated by a majority and are a problem unto itself.
In our society today, culture is not what it used to be hundreds of years ago. There is no more “pure” culture. Our culture today is enriched with many different traditions and customs that are being shared and adopted. Due to emigration and immigration, a variety of diverse customs, beliefs, and knowledge moved with every exiting and entering human being. Thus, changing and shaping the culture of many. Throughout the world, the beliefs and religious views of culture are dissimilar around the world. By taking the time to read, listen and learn about certain people’s culture, there will be knowledge and understanding that will be gained.
For decades without end, members of the Sikh faith have suffered countless injustices at the hands of their fellow countrymen. The Sikh religion was started in India during the fifteenth century by the first guru Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji. The Sikh were a peace loving people who spread messages of freedom and equality. They even went as far as too risk their lives to help out other religions. Despite all this in the past century the decedents of the very people the Sikhs sacrificed and continue to sacrifice themselves to save have turned their back on them. India reduced Sikh's to second class citizens, and didn't even consider them as a proper religion. During the independence movements Sikh's were the ones who contributed the most, despite
Sikhism remained relatively clustered in the Punjab, where the religion originated. After it became an independent state, the British took control but let them fight in the British army.
Hamid shows Changes perception of individuality. People like Changes suffered a lot in America and got interest to know native identity. Native culture and identity is awesome for every individual. Changes worries that even after all the sacrifices and services of Pakistanis has never treated Pakistan as ally or friend. There is probability that Americans might have encouraged Indians to envy with Pakistanis. Hamid painfully conveys that Americans never treat non- European Counties as their friends and they treat like tissue papers.

When someone does something wrong, they have the choice of whether or not they want to take responsibility for their actions. Most people recognize and apologize for their wrongdoing, whether it takes a couple days or weeks. However, some people choose to never admit to what they have done. This is the case of the Sikh genocide, which was known as one of the darkest times in Indian history. On October 31, 1984, Indira Gandhi was assassinated by her Sikh bodyguards. In response, many anti-Sikh mobs, mostly members of the Congress Party, attempted to exterminate Sikhs in India. The Indian government officials and law enforcement often participated in the annihilation by engaging in violence, seeking vengeance, and providing mobs with weapons.
In this essay I am going compare and contrast the rituals/ practices parts of sikhism and judaism. As we discussed in class, Sikhism is Monotheistic religion that was found in Punjab Pakistan in 1469 AD by Guru Nanak Dv Ji. The worship place for this religion is the Gurdwara. In my site visit to the Gurdwara I learned that this place open 24 hour and anyone may enter it no matter their faith, caste or skin color. I also learned that There are daily prayers and the three pillars of sikhism are to remember god at all time, to live your life honestly/with integrity and to share what you have with those less fortunate. In addition, Every day Sikhs worship the one God at their homes, even with or without a Gurdwara service. As we learned in class that in sikhism statues and pictures are not allowed. Furthermore, there is no prophets in Sikhism, only direct relation with god without mediator. The three jewels in Sikhism are Naam Japna,Kirat Karni and Vand chakna (Living Religions page . Additionally, Skishis do not drink intoxicating drinks and most of them are vegetarian. Also, sikhs wear the 5 KS which are Kangha,Kara,Kachera,Kirpan and Kesh. According to the book Living Religion in Skisham , Men should wear turbans and
rebellion and there pretty much was a war. One of the most interesting events that the Sikh extremists did was the attack on the Romanian ambassador. The Sikhs are extremely violent in all their means and a lot of it is also retaliation. But the founder of the religion was a gentle soul. This shows just how easy it is for religion to turn violent. The younger activists had taken over pretty much and now the older Sikh leaders were just there. That is how the religion got so messed up. That 's why they were all about violence and none of the original Sikh views. They did not even achieve any political views. The Sikh terrorist are mainly in India. So even if the government is not the best doesn 't mean people can do whatever that want.
This French article discusses the current cultural and religious conflict in India. The author cites various individuals who argue that Muslims are purposely blamed for violence that affects both communities. As well, it stresses that the government is lacking actions in order to resolve the conflict. This article applies to psychology.
How do you forgive and forget when we have acquired another up roaring of events have made people think that the second round of 1984 is going to happen again against Sikh people in Punjab. The events that have been going on these recent months is the discrimination of the holy book of Sikhs called the Guru Granth Sahib. Some individuals decided to vandalize the book in a small village in Punjab and to tease the Sikhs by leaving the ripped pieces around the village. This instance led to other villages having the same actions. When complaints were filed and no action was taken, Sikhs were outraged. They decided to hold a silent protest in some of the larger cities of Punjab. This was a peaceful protest until authorities arrived and decided to use water hoses and tear gas against the crowds. This outraged Sikhs even more. However this time around Sikhs received a lot of support from other religious groups like Muslims. Since the government is not taking any actions this has brought uprising with all Sikhs around the world. This has led to worldwide protests to raise awareness of what is going in India and what the Sikhs are facing again, in hopes that other countries will try to push the Indian government to do the right thing. Silent protest was even held in small towns like Kelowna. In Canada many people are diaspora from their home countries. Due to this Sikhs are able to spread the word of their religion. As times change we see Prime Minister Justin Trudeau holding Vaisakhi festivals at the Parliament building. They were held to bring awareness of what else goes on in this world. In the Fresno Bee, they brought attention to the memories and the pain that came with it. Since it was only 32 years ago many of the people who went through that time are still alive and dealing with the memories. However people in living in India have known the
The scholarly articles provided a lot of information about this topic and introduced me with the basic beliefs and cultural values of people following Sikhism.
Have you ever been punished or judged for being a person of a certain religion? What is your true identity as a person? This novel is based on a girl named Esha who lives in Canada but travels to India to fulfil her father's wish. Esha is forced to follow traditions that she rejected all her life. In 1984, Indira Gandhi who was the prime minister got assassinated and innocent people were killed in riots.
Pali is appalled by this, and cries. The social worker states, “You are a Hindu boy” (pg. 70). This quote was used for the drawing because, Pali is going from Hindu to Muslim back to Hindu. The Hindu community did not appreciate how Pali still used Muslim traditions, instead of Hindus. The transition from Muslim back to Hindu is the hardest since Pali was Muslim from four to eleven years old, which was most of his life at the time. This also ties in with the drawing of the Muslim hat versus the Hindu hat, and how the Hindu’s and Muslim’s are arguing which religion Pali should be. My image relates to the reference “Conflict: Hindus and Muslims” in the book The Indians, because it explains all the differences and thoughts that each religion has on each other. In “Conflict: Hindus and Muslims” it talks about the violence between the religions and how it all started. Similar to the short story of Pali. Pali shows the conflict on the two religions, by an actual story of him being Hindu and Muslim. All in all, I really enjoyed reading the story about Pali, and it really taught me every day struggles of Indians and their religions, Hindu and
