1.0 Introduction
There are a lot of methods in language learning that have been practical in our country’s education system such as Natural Approach, The Silent Way, Cognitive Code Learning and many more. This assignment require us to do a comparison between Total Physical Response and Natural Approach. Total Physical Response is mainly based on the coordination of language and physical movement while Natural Approach emphasises communication and places decrease importance on conscious grammar study and explicit correction of student errors. We will have to do the similarities and differences, strength and weaknesses and the implementations between these two methods.
2.0 Similarities And Differences
Total Physical Response and Natural Approach have some differences such as their learner’s role which Total Physical Response learners have the primary roles of listener and performer. The students in the class listen attentively and respond physically to commands given by the teachers while Natural Approach learners should not try to learn language in the harder way but should try to lose themselves in activities involving meaningful communication. For the second method which is Natural Approach, learners were initially exposed to the language, not forced to speak until they felt to and not corrected until they fully understand the usage of grammar itself. Many popular theories of second language acquisition have been analyzed throughout history. The socialization of L2 learners, their present emotional state that is present at time of acquisition, as well as the comprehensible input and output with the use of scaffolding play a major role in second language acquisition. Let us also not forget the importance of written expression as well as reading comprehension with these L2 learners. Each play a role in language development. However, I believe that in acquiring a language, one must use a variety of techniques that work together to create a balance within the learning environment. Furthermore, all L2 learners learn differently and so a variety of resources will need to be used based on the ability of each student. There are many theories that have been developed by highly qualified experts in the field on linguistics. However, I will address those areas that I agree with as I present my personal theories on second language acquisition.
The second language classroom is full of theories of how to get students to acquire the target language (L2). These theories have been around for many years and have been debated and revised numerous times. Theories such as the grammar translation theory, used up until the 1940’s, are no longer in favour because of their inability for learners to use the language in colloquial situations have been superseded by new innovative ideas. At the time of writing this paper, there are three main theories used in the second language classroom: Behaviorist, Innate, and Interactionist.
2. How does task-based learning differ from grammar-based one in terms of improving students’ language proficiency (speaking, listening, writing, reading, use of language) ?

For humans, Language is the prime method of communication, it is a huge achievement of the human species, it is something that all humans can do, (whether that be verbal, gestures, or symbols). The Communicative Approach emphasizes the ability to communicate the message in terms of its meaning, instead of concentrating exclusively on grammatical perfection or phonetics.
