It began while I was in my History class in 7th grade, our teacher, Ms. Queen, at the time had passed out a bag of mixed candies for everyone to enjoy. I, of course, picked out a small watermelon Jolly Rancher from the immense and bloated bag of sweets, popping it into my mouth quickly. Now, this particular class was the first one of the day, therefore, this adventure ended up leaving me with an entire day to deal with the unforeseen issues my little candy gave me. I was mindlessly swishing the candy back and forth for the duration of this class period, when suddenly I tried to press it into the roof of my mouth. What my poor 7th grader self was unaware of, was the fact that hard candies can hold pockets of air in them, and when dissolved enough
“Apricots” was an interesting and evocative chapter. With this chapter, it is evident how story and storytelling play a major role in our lives. It made me realize, we are always telling a story, or reliving a memory and discussing it with others. When empathy was mentioned, it reminded me of when I was in film class; our characters didn’t need to be likable, but the audience must care for them and empathize with them on some level.
According to Wikipedia, the earliest candy bar was made in 1847 in the United Kingdom by a man called Joseph Fry (Candy bar). In the world there are more than 70 types of candy bars (Wikipedia). In the article "How Candy Conquered America by Lauren Tarshis" and the article “This Cupcake Is Trying to Hurt You by Kristin Lewis" they both talk about candy and how it became so popular and how it is unhealthy. In the first article it says "They removed the chemical flavorings and colors. Big mistake! Loyal customers were furious. sales dropped 35 percent, and the company decided to return to the original formula." (Tarshis 25). In the second article it says "New studies have linked high-sugar diets to a host of other terrifying diseases too--Diabetes, cancer, heart disease, obesity, high blood pressure, and stroke. Sugar may also contribute to depression, tiredness, and learning and memory issues (not so great on the day of a big test).”
Imagine being a young child walking into a chocolate museum where chocolate lines the walls, you can create your own one of a kind candy bar, thousands of different types of chocolates, and chocolate bars line the walls.
I am sure we have all seen or heard about taffy. What I would think would come to mind to most people when I would say something regarding taffy might be something concerning saltwater taffy. I love saltwater taffy. It seems that it is not in great supply around here. The only place I know of is somewhere like the cracker barrel. Needless to say I never go to cracker barrel, and it is a little more than I feel comfortable spending on candy. So I find myself resorting to a childhood favorite, laffy taffy. It is sold everywhere, and it is very inexpensive. I really started to like it when I played baseball as a kid. After the game I would always try to pump mom or dad for a few cents to stock up. It never made it home. I would somehow eat my entire entire stockpile. Whoever came up with the idea of putting jokes inside the wrapper is a very rich man. I could not help but to try to unwrap one more. The way the jokes where printed on the wrapper was very smart too. They would put one joke half way on the wrapper so it made me want to know the end of the joke, genius really.
I chose See's Candies as my mystery shop at because it was affordable and I was able to give what I bought as a gift. Another reason I chose See's Candies was I could make up a situation to shop with. I was a little surprised by the set-up of the shop, as I had never been in one before, but I liked the grayscale colorscheme of its interior. Most See's Candies have monochrome interiors, excluding the candy, of course. This is becuase the kitchen where Mary See, the mother of founder Charles See, made candy was black-and-white
The tangerine orange glow of the Tootsie Pop’s curled and slightly crinkled wrapping heavily inscribed by the same name in clear, bolded bubbly font invites my attention. While slowly unraveling the carefully prepared smooth plastic, a familiar aroma of overwhelming citrus invades my nostrils. A swirling amber elliptical interrupted by a jutting horizontal ring around the surface married with a thickly rolled paper stick stares back at me in all it’s splendor. Encapsulated in its center is a hidden chocolate treasure sealed away by the hard candy shell. When the Tootsie Pop settles on my tongue, it awakes all my taste buds to absorb the rich, sweet, and savory qualities of the fruity sweet. Having another look I notice the unnatural shine of
Ever since fourth-grade, I’ve helped my school sell candy on Fridays. It’s been close to eight years since I started and now that I’m almost out of school, I feel that I should talk about all the ways that selling candy has affected my growth as a person. When I first started doing it, I hated it, I was a pretty shy kid at the time, so talking to strangers was very far out of my comfort-zone. Thankfully, other people were there to help me out when I was nervous. It was hard at first; I wasn’t good at talking with people I didn’t already know, but I persevered and eventually became more comfortable holding a conversation with new people. Candy-selling was a lot like getting a shot: it felt uncomfortable while I was doing it, but I would have been much worse off without
Wyatt grabbed the gumballs and started passing them out to the princesses and farm animals. Everyone started chewing as fast as they could. As soon as everyone had chewed enough, they all starting blowing bubbles. After each bubble was complete, they floated into the sky and starting combining together to make one giant bubble, that covered the entire pirate ship, which continued to sail forward. After that, the characters started laying the marshmallows on the floor, creating a thin blanket, covering the entire ground. Then, Wyatt takes a peppermint into a sling shot (given to him by a robin hood-type character) and shoots the peppermint towards the ship. As soon as the peppermint punctures the bubble, the ship starts spinning quickly in the

He nodded and muttered "Your naked, sugar pie", I nodded in response. "Why don't you get some clothes from the back. I saw him check out my ass in the rearview mirror as I crawled over the seats. But I didn't care, I liked the non-rapey attention he was giving me. I pulled out 8 Balenciaga lambskin totes from under the seat. From them I picked out a chocolate pair of white Yeezy boost 950s, a pair of Falke socks, Versace jeans, a white Chanel t-shirt (which i covered with a Balmain sport coat), and I topped it off with a burberry scarf. I sat back in the sit and he told me I looked trashy. I said "Fuck you give me a joint" So, he did and I sat there smoking it. Suddenly, a flash of lightning struck across the sky and ran began to pour
What come to ones mine when you either see or hear about candy, orange and black colors, jack o lanterns, and doorbell ringing? Well, right off the back Candy and Halloween comes to my mind. The two have a long history of friendship, the friendship begun in the late 1940s when trick-or treating came into play. Although, the two became friend and is a big hit nationwide today. However, it was that sweet tasting treat, costumes, and doorbell ring, which is known as Halloween. The two did not start right off as friends, up until the 1950s; people would give gifts like coins, prizes, nuts and fruits.
Have you ever choked on a water bottle wrapper? Well I have, I don’t know how old I was. My mom has mentioned the story in the past. I found it humorous and so I decided to write about it. Silly children do silly things right? Well let me stop procrastinating and get to the story.
