The simulation was a pronounced learning experience, I relished every minute of it. Working with my team mates was the best part, our success came from team work and analytical decision making. Below are the key highlights of my learning experience. • Bring together the best team. • Team work and decision making in real time. • Understanding each team member’s strengths and weaknesses. • Written plan of action must be specific, specific addressing the financial needs and projections is a must. • Forecasting should be detailed for all components of the business. • Making correct assumptions. • Willingness to stay the course and not get distracted or zone in on one area of the business. • Chasing just demand was a poor decision, that was a short
Inter-Professional Team Model (PAARP) is used throughout the life cycle of a team and includes 5 phases describing actions of the interprofessional teams: purpose, assemble and charter, align, resource, perform. The division of labor is based on the scopes of practice of team members and takes into account KSAs of team members. In the PAARP model, actions of leadership give purpose to the group, and consistency of action by the leader is essential. Identifying purpose through goal-setting plays a large part in this theory and team members accept the goals of the team as their own and take responsibility for their part in achieving them. This model is applicable across health professionals through an understanding of each discipline’s roles

Being goal orientated and having a set task to work towards be it as a team or individually and knowing
A quality in people that are willing to not only take on responsibility, but to see it through to the finish line; these people do not need others to look over their shoulders they are able to accomplish their tasks independently. You know that with this type of individual once they commit to the responsibility they will unquestionably get it done! No excuses, No hindrances, No buts, simply said it just gets done and it gets done right and on timely. As an example, the Colonel could have given a million and one excuses as to why the message would be undeliverable, but did
Avoiding having your ego so close to your position that when your position falls, your ego goes with it.
Once the exercise was over and as the individual points were displayed a lot of things became clearer. Having experienced the system and then debriefing later on, helped in filling a lot of gaps in information that seemed to exist during the simulation. With a better understanding of ‘the rules of the game’ and some of the strategies that did work, it is difficult to introspect now without a bias. As the saying goes – “Hindsight is wonderful. It's always very easy to second guess after the fact. “– Helen Reddy
Another skill needed is commitment. Commitment means they finish and follow through with all tasks. Commitment also means they do not easily give up when the task or client get difficult to deal with.
In this reflection, I will provide a brief description of the simulation laboratory scenario that I underwent, my thoughts and feelings from this experience, and analysis of important learning opportunities.
